• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

GTA V has gone gold.

I'm going to spend about 20 hours exploring before I even start any of the main missions.

Unless the first few are tutorials, of course.

I never played the Zombie campaign from RDR.

Thinking of doing that now before GTA V drops.

But I also want to replay through GTA IV one more time. I have the PC version, I only beat the 360 version. Not that far yet in it, but Im enjoying it so far.

It's one or the other.

what the hell is going on i can not think straight. im even exicted as hell for that OT. this game makes me crazy. so freaking ready for this.

Undead Nightmare is great. The main story is pretty funny and it's a nice change of pace from the main game.

Also not too long, so you could easily finish the story before next Tuesday.

I wish I can ride a horse in gta v and run away from police cars <.< just sayin

Edit:

Will the whole map be unlocked at the start or will it be typical GTA?

The whole map is unlocked from the start. Not sure if I like this idea personally....I like the sense of progression when you unlock each chunk

I read theres a 'fog of war' system in place though, so you still have ot travel to the areas to see what it looks like

Man I'm so interested in how character switching works.

If you're in a random cop firefight with Trevor, and right before you die you switch to Michael, what happens?

I would imagine that Trevor would die and the next time you spawn as him it would be in front of a hospital? Maybe?

Fuck! I guess I'm going to get this game day 1. I've been watching Rooster Teeth derp around in multiplayer on IV and it got me really hype.

You can't switch character if you have a star rating...unless you are in a mission and then the switching is pretty much scripted (somewhat).

Word is you cannot shoot / kill the other characters. You can probably knock them out if you were to hit them with a car, which would be pretty hilarious.

Also I don't know if you could go "find" Trevor if you're playing as Michael in free roam. There was some talk of that a few months back, but I don't think it's been confirmed. Will be interesting to try... they may just be programmed to keep their distance from the player controlled character when out of missions.

WOuld be awesome that if you start a mission with Michael, that has Trevor and Franklin starting together at the same place... that as you drive up, they all arrive around the same time in style.

I Wonder if there will be limited to switching characters at any time, like if you're in a certain wanted level... do you have to lose your level before switching or what.

You can see their position on the map at all time so I bet it's easy to get to them.

"Games like this only come around once in a generation. Grand Theft Auto V is a beautiful, sprawling adventure that proves to be one of the most, if not the most, ambitious titles ever created. Just when you think you have it figured out, an entirely new element is introduced that enriches it further, rendering it one of the least repetitive experiences to be had with a controller. An inspiring testament to what can be accomplished with unbridled devotion, it’s possible that nothing of this magnitude will ever be attempted again. No matter if you’re a fan of the series, or even the genre, GTA V must be experienced; it’s a truly definitive event that will be looked-back as a crucial step in gaming evolution."

They say you can track down the other characters, or just happen upon them while travelling Los Santos. You can also call them to arrange for a meet up. You can't kill them, but that was a bit of a misunderstanding. You can, however, 'waste' them and have them end up in a hospital, but you can't 'kill' them and eliminate them from the story.

Yep. All unlocked, but there's a strong fog of war effect on the map as you mentioned.

I like that. It's a nice balance. People who feel the need to go anywhere right away technically can, while others can discover areas more slowly as they go along in the story since everything is hidden until you actually travel there.

Just to clarify, the "fog of war" thing is just for the in-game 2d map, when you pause the game.
It's not like there's a magic fog when you go around.

See, that review works much better now.

Damn you GTA V. Damn you day 1 digital download. Damn you compelling videos online . Damn you Internet community for hyping this game. Damn you!!

All at once.

Hopefully a lot of the content is locked behind missions. Best part about San Andreas was how you kept being introduced to more and more gameplay elements throughout the entire game. Like how you didn't even learn to fly until the 3rd city.
