Agreed. I've done Wanderer's Palace & AK a few times non-speed ran and trash just takes so long with nothing to really show for it other than a higher repair bill. Makes the dungeons much more dull than they need to be

I dont even want to play the game anymore if all its going to turn into is a tome grinding mess. Which is what its looking to be. Plus how little you get per runs.

I think once I hit 50 thats going to be it for me perhaps. As grinding dungeons isnt all that appealing at all.

Sides will have MH4 come saturday.

I know strength is where I should put most of my attribute points on lnc/drg but what's a good secondary stat for that class/job to put a few points in?

In the event if you do get hit which will happen on occasion since later on bosses will target players at random. VIT is always a good thing to add more HP. At least thats what Id do anyways with mine.

I've been turning off Defiance if we have another pally. Maybe one day we'll have the math down to compare the job stat boost (+10str?) vs burst +dmg abilities to see which is better.

If I'm off-tanking, I never turn off Defiance myself, because that means I can't use Inner Beast. I just avoid using Skull Sunder and build up Wrath using Maim and Storm's Path, which makes it almost impossible to top emnity by mistake. (I played a Druid tank in WoW and it was so easy to unintentionally pull threat.. I very much appreciate how it is in this game.)

Got a question about Grand Companies. I wanna pick up some more seals, I'm not really big on fate farming. I was considering quitting my GC and joining another to farm the other hunting logs. Is there any downside to this? Will I need to apply for promotions from the start if I rejoin my original GC?

Also, who do I even talk to to quit?

STR is really the only thing you gain significant benefit from. A bit of VIT might make your life easier but the gains from a few points of it are minimal.

Equip items from quests = to your level. You're done.

No seriously that's it, the game gives you all the gear you need from 1-50. Anything you get from dungeons or buy on the market or get crafted is a bonus.

And yes, people still Do It Wrong post 30 even with the quests literally handing you level and job appropriate gear.

Well uh, that's easy enough, heh.

Also wanted to post that I'm surprised at the negativity about the GAF FC in this thread. I've always gotten gaffers to party with through the FC ingame chat (I don't use mumble) and they've carried my ass through many a dungeon. It's made the game a lot more enjoyable.

With the limited amount of content right now you are pretty much relegated to that. You can either grind AK or try to craft your own gear. You won't get much further since Titan and beyond are all gear checks.

MRD is barely even a tank. In the low-level dungeons they are squishy as hell. As soon as I hit 30, I made a beeline for Curious Gorge, turned on Defiance and didn't look back. If I was asked to fill in as a DD, I would take off the soulstone so that I had access to Straight Shot and Raging Strikes from the ARC class.

Yeah.

Also, you get access to Invigorate, Quelling Strikes, and Hawk's Eye as well. ARC skills are so good for DPS which is why WAR doesn't get any. =P

You also can get Venemous Bite to have consistent DOT damage if you can keep it and Fracture up.

Im working on crafting my own but the mats just become stupid. Got the armorer up to 41, working on blacksmith and goldsmith. Since need those idiotic ingots. Blacksmith is to make the tools mainly. Then need stuff from tailoring, leatherworking.

Not enough leves to go around to power level everything.

I finally finished the story like 5 days after hitting 50. Feels good man.

Final dungeon spoilers:
The first Ultima Weapon fight we wiped once and then cleared on the second attempt, only the tanks and me and the other healer survived. Whole lot of shit going on in that fight, but it wasn't that bad healing it to be honest. It pretty much came down to folks could move or they couldn't, if they could you had plenty of time to heal them. If not, they'd get hit back to back and die anyway.

That magitek mount!

EDIT: I should add, the entire dungeon consisted of two members fighting with the others about watching cutscenes. Our original main tank quit when our monk said up front he was watching the cut scene. He tanked all of one pull. Gotta love FFXIV.

Hawk's Eye is useless to any class other than ARC/BRD, since it's DEX and that only increases damage for that class.

What is Invigorate?

Can always level another class but that's arguably worse since your primary method of levelling has to be FATE grinding due to not having any quests to do

I hear ya. I'm saving my leves for alchemy and have been grinding out botany and its a painful crawl.

If you are using levels for DoH classes I highly recommend using them on the leves that are repeatable (multiple turn in with only one leve allowance used). You can find a list of them here:

http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/118012-Best-repeatable-tradecraft-leves.

Ow. How many deaths?

I'm still not quite sure how the item decay system works, I'm just going by what I see in my own bills.

Id say about 10 at lv 45.

Not too keen on really working with the other classes as much besides paladin. I need another retainer already. A third one that is my 2 current ones are maxed out with items at 175 a piece. Since I do all the crafting jobs and gathering besides fishing.

Useful stuff there thanks!

Ive been doing those 3 x 3 x 3 leves just that sometimes trying to have all the mats to constantly HQ them each time just can add up. D:

You are going to lose your seals, I think. If you change GC, you won't be able to change again for some time.

Are the leveling areas from 1-49 decently populated? I was under the impression that everyone would be level 50 on there already so doing fates and low level dungeons would be tough.

Not sure where you got that impression unless it was from people who didn't even play 1.x (for any real length of time, that is).

I hope Square isn't planning on doing maintainence during NA primetime every week. What a joke that they don't split it out for each dramatically different set of time zones. Guess I'll have to play Dota tonight :|

Ifrit Claws get!

iwhgqyUpSWbN3.png

Took a lot less time to get than I expected.

The AF gear is impossibly expensive to repair. I would say don't even equip it until you hit 50. I made that mistake and my biggest repair bill was 3k.

Thankfully Im not wearing the AF gear. Still running around in my High Mythril at 45 currently. Still working on replacing some of the normal parts with HQ counterparts. Will work on that tomorrow.

Sarg is a fountain of gil

I knew it would be and that's why I started over on Ultros even though I had a 1.0 character there that I barely played.
My thinking was that I'd be a dirty poor among billionaires. Plus I didn't want to play with people who loved 1.0.
Oh well.

Yea it's not really worth it unless you do the HQ turn ins due to the enormous bonus EXP you get. That's why I've been leveling botany since a lot of repeatable turn in quests use mats from botany and its pretty easy to amass HQ mats from gathering.

But man is it painful to level....

What is Invigorate?

Hawk's Eye should increase physical accuracy, right? Not really useless for other classes.

Invigorate restores 300 TP which is good for longer fights.

So you want them to do maintenance at separate times for separate time zones instead of doing it all at once...?

America isn't the world

Yeah mining and botany are just mind numbing with how long it takes to level those D: What makes things worse too is ive been mining ice shards forever due to my massive grinding I did with armor smithing. dear god beyond mind numbing that is and worse yet is shit exp.

So would you recommend I re-roll on there? I'm pretty broke already on Ultros at level 50 and thought leveling mining would help out but that doesn't seem to be the case presently.

Whats funny on my server right now the most expensive minerals seems to be cobalt and that electro something forgot the name lol

cheapest is get this, mythril...

with all this economy talk maybe I should have rolled on sarg

The economy talk on top of doodie finder woes is making me reconsider jumping in soon. I hope thing iron out, I don't like to feel broke and unable to do things because repair costs are eating away at my non existing gil. I may try to hold out for the first expansion. That's when I started ffxi pretty much (near ffxi ps2 launch. It had Rise of Zillart). There should be more stuff to do, more classes/jobs, and the things like DF and economy should be solid.

You people that are rolling in the money are so lucky. Make that gil work, take over.

Ah right, I was still thinking ARC and not LNC.

How much accuracy is required? Ideally you should be able to get to some kind of hard cap where you will never miss boss mobs, but I don't know the math on it. I think that if you're far enough away that you need an extra 20% accuracy, your gear needs a lot of help.

Exactly how much money does the average person have?
I mean I don't even bat an eye at a 5-6k repair bill...

Feel sorta bad now.

It varies by servers. Mine the economy is beyond shit generally. Prices of everything tanking .

I guess part of it comes from the server still being locked down so no new users to keep a constant flow of money going around and everyone is just trying to scrape together whatever from all the others left in the game.

If it wasnt for all the constant crafting / leveling of said crafting skills Id actually have money. That and if it wasnt for idiots dropping prices of everything to rock bottom. Even lower than the cost of mats to create said products. Its why besides eve online Ive hated pretty much almost every other games "player based economy". As idiots outnumber sensible merchant minded people.

I haven't sold much on the AH but even with buying stuff for my relic weapon I've floated around 110k gil since I turned 50 a week or so ago.

I mean in a real general sense...
Like in my FC the poorest of the poor have maybe 200k to their name.

Really odd how they set their maintenance times. Blizzard would stagger maintenance times for different timezones (NA, EU, Asia, etc.) so to minimize the downtime for the most busiest times of the day. Hope Square eventually gets around to doing something like this.

My buddy hardly spends any cash and he only has around 70k-80k? though he doesnt sell stuff on the market either or craft things to sell. Hes at lv 45 currently.

Hoping these tweaks to repair costs and the droppable dark matter will lessen this black hole in the gil supply.

I was surprised that we couldnt mine that shit.

Maybe they'll make it like 1.0 where LITERALLY NOTHING BUT DARK MATTER DROPS

Finish Garuda

Dark Matter

Finish Ifrit

Dark Matter

AV/Cutters Cry?

Dark Matter

Mog?

Dark Matter

I have so much fucking darkmatter in my retainer from 1.0 it's absurd.

I don't know if there's a hard cap, or at least if one has been figured out. I don't see too much accuracy on gear in the game honestly, so I don't know if there's a big need for it. aside from the occasional boost.

40k lol.

As someone who much prefers running dungeons rather than sitting around crafting and gathering (in every single MMO) I really wish it was possible to make decent income from dungeons.
