If they're trying to solve server load issues rather than "why don't it act like WoW" issues, AFK kick takes into account load on the particular zone you're in and boots (faster) if it's strained.

It's probably something a lot dumber like counting SixAxis jitters when you walk by as activity, though.

There've been quite a few experiences like this in the thread. Square's privacy/security system is a shambles.

Doubtful.

More likely user passwords have been fished, easily guessed, keylogged, or taken from another site.

Use a unique password, buy / download an authenticator, and don't download keyloggers or other malicious software to your computer.

Dammit!

Switching to a Disciple of War class I guess.
So hot!

Thanks for the screen grab!

do you gladiators have problem holding aggro at level 20? i don't have provoke yet so all I have is savage blade, shield toss, and flash and the healer is getting more hate than i can generate. maybe i'll just level a dps instead > >

I have that head from 1.0 was a coffer drop in Zanr'ak. Don't know where drops now in 2.0

probably wanderer's palace

If you're losing hate, then you aren't using Flash often enough. I had an easier time holding threat as a Gladiator than as a Marauder at low levels, though they do squat for damage. Provoke is situational and on an abnormally long cooldown.

so just spam flash? i remember reading that savage blade generates more hate than flash does and flash is more for the initial pull

Savage Blade does a good amount of single-target threat but will do nothing to keep that other mob from going to say hello to the healer.

So if I want to get the stuff from the Faire event, what's the best way to go about doing it? Need some break from farming Leves and Vigil before I go mad.

Beat the story mode tonight. Surprisingly, I've had some pretty good pugs so far. All of us were new comers in the last story dungeon and worked together to figure everything out. It was a fantastic time.

Ugh, Brayflox was frustrating, though it was a harsh lesson to make sure my gear's reasonably up to date before starting a dungeon, as I had a lot of mid 20s gear when I could've had low 30s! And sure enough I got through on my second try!

That, or it was a lesson for the healer to actually use Sleep, or to keep an Arcanist around for Stoneskin. Whichever, but it's not helping if I can't keep up on my end.

I would concur with wanderers, I got the sipahi gloves from the first boss last night. Seeing now that its the same set as the scions npc, I totally want the full set now, even if its only ilevel 55.

Damnit SE we need vanity waldrobes now!!

Titan HM was taken due to people exploiting the encounter by having a WHM jump to ledge, while not aggro, then start healing. This would break the encounter and cause Titan to not attack. Hopefully SE can figure out who all did this and ban them.

Eh, they got lucky in uncovering an abuse and got to use it in a very specific high level instance, without it being PVP I can't really begrudge them over it.

What is the healer doing? If they spam healing spells, you might never grab hate back. I have heal tanked before in Coperbell and it was so easy to keep hate.

I'm back with some more 4K screenshots! This game is doing wonderfully to hold me over until GTA V.

4k aside - this is the best looking MMO I have ever played. I love how varied everything is, while respectively looking amazing.

I have been really taking my time leveling, for a variety of reasons, but one them is because I enjoy simply taking in the atmosphere of each of the zones.

I am not concerned at all with the end game or rushing to it. I am just taking my time and having fun as much as possible. It's a nice change of pace from my usual MMO habits.

Yeah the defense upgrades are pretty huge on plate armor. Every bit helps :)

I did it when it opened up for me at level 32, and managed to stay alive without CC. But then again I had updated all my armor before queuing and I had the +25% hp from Defiance :p

So I was going to wait until the PS4 version comes out but I ordered the PS3 version yesterday...
I'm planning on going Lancer -> Dragoon (proud DRG from FFXI).
I only ever played Lancer until Lv 15 during the beta and have yet to participate in a dungeon run... Exciting times await me. Hopefully I get the hang of everything quick. I don't want to be a noob for too long.

Anyone getting Lobby errors (code: 2002) on the character select screen?

I got into a wanderers df group, 5 seconds in got 90000'd out of the game, now I can't get past character select :(

I'm only up to 26 on my GLD (just leveled before logging out), but aggro's been ok so far. If you get one of those healers who insists on spamming heals as fast as possible the instant a fight begins, there's not much you can do. Otherwise, if you find yourself losing secondary targets, you probably need to use Flash some more. If you're losing you r primary target and it isn't to spam heals, maybe there's just a big equipment gap.

For what it's worth, my general routine so far has been:
- Mark targets
- Shield lob on primary target
- Adjust my own position if necessary so everything's in range
- Flash 2-3 times (two has been fine for 2-mob groups, and I do 3 for 3-4 mob groups)
- Fire off whatever cooldowns might be relevant to the fight, if any
- Run the basic Fast Blade -> Savage Blade combo
- Sneak in a Fast Blade -> Riot Blade here and there for mana when I have a comfortable aggro buffer
- Flash every few combos to stay ahead of heal and/or DOT aggro.

Reached 50 while doing some levequests to try and see if some WHM items would come from rotating the quests. Got no items usefull as a WHM, but at least I leveled up.

When is it save to sleep after a group pull?
Since I can't sleep during the pull I have a hard time finding the time to cast sleep while three trucks are slamming into the tank..

Do both Warrior and Paladin use AoEs to get aggro at the beginning and do all AoEs break sleep?

So for those of you with more experience playing the DoW DPS classes, how does the Monk and Dragoon experience compare? I'm not interested in who does more damage, rather their playstyles / contributes to the party / defining characteristics.

I've played a Lancer up to 10 and the long cooldowns made everything seem slow. I liked how I was using almost all of the skills though. It almost felt like dancing.

I've played Pugilist up to 5 or so and the pacing seems faster. I haven't really gotten a taste for the different forms, but I felt like I was doing more maybe because of the attack animations and effects.

I hear people say that Lancer is perhaps overly complicated in the later levels and that you need to work hard to get good damage. Monk, on the other hand, seems to be faceroll into DPS. Visually, I like how they both look but the artifact(?) armor for Monk is really hot on Miqo'tes. (Girl's gotta look her best.)

Non-tick damage breaks sleep, I don't believe Flash does. That said, if the tank wants the mobs slept, you can adapt by sleeping during pull out of AoE range and/or they can adapt by using only single-target hate builders, especially since it's rare in this game for mob #1 to survive the full 30 seconds (especially with a WAR tank!)

BLM has Sleepga and should always be on sleep duty if there's one in the party.

I have a Gladiator at 22. I don't really have problems holding aggro, provided the DPS isn't an asshole that goes ahead of me pulling or attacking whatever he pleases.
Opening with Shield Lob, following with Flash, then doing a combo on primary target and starting to cycle targets to throw some threat generation on them is usually enough to keep everything on me. I'll just throw in some flash back to back and a stun if I'm seeing the DPS or healer gaining too much threat before the primary target is dead and it's worked well so far.

I've done the pull/sleep a bit differently depending on the communication between group members

The trickiest is to have the healer pull with sleep, and then have the tank peel off the mobs with something, usually flash. You need a good tank for this and since flash has a crap range, it might not be successfull and usually doesn't make for a very clean pull.

One other way to do it is to have the tank pull with an aoe move, like overpower, and then have the healer sleep one mob from the pack once the tank has initial aggro. But since the sleeped mob is near the other mobs, groups with loose communication usually just aoe it anyway. But if you have good coordination and marking, this is very efficient. When I do this, I usually start the pull by popping a cooldown so the healer has some time to sleep a mob.

There was one "pug-friendly" way to do it as well, I've only seen it once and it most likely includes a instant cast or something. I'm not sure how to do it, but it seemed like the healer sleeped a mob, either with instant cast or normally, and then used that knockback move to push the mob off the group. This works great in any envinronment.

AFAIK flash doesn't break CC, since it doesn't deal damage. If we're using CC in a pull, I'm usually spamming it a few times to have aggro and not break CC.

Well, I certainly didn't expect the Cavalry pants I spent time to get to be worse than my GC pants. Doesn't bode well for the rest of the set...

Someday the game will look this good while I'm playing, oh yes, someday it will.

Eh, probably wouldn't use 4k though, the monitors are a way too expensive. WQHD should be just as good.

I presume you're a CNJ or WHM, if so use Fluid Aura to knock back the mob and stun it then use Repose to sleep it. That puts it away from the group so it woke be accidentally awoken and stops it hitting the tank while you're trying to sleep it.

This is why I prefer Aero over Bio.

You lose the 50 potency attack on application, but you get +15 potency per tick when you use Bio. I think if you're counting on the initial damage to kill something, then you probably shouldn't be using Aero, you should be using Stone or another attack spell (unless you need the instant cast speed.) <.<

That's what I normally do :)
Also, I am marking it the moment it gets slept.

I just had some issues in SV when I have to wait a bit while three drakes hit on the tank and he is constantly at half health or lower. Not that it caused big troubles but it made me wonder about the tank abilities.

Since the cast is 2 secs the mob still makes it to the tank even if I sleep during the incoming.

Pulling myself with sleep is an option. Just haven't suggested it yet (I did it once or twice to check if I can keep myself up. In SV things might be too hairy though with my current gear.

I was more wondering which skills are aoe and when they are normally used. I figured Flash wouldn't break sleep.

Whenever I have time I am going to level a tank up a bit just to understand the hate mechanics and skills better.

What GC rank and level are those pants? I hope the Infantry set is better than what's being offered at my GC rank/level.

The Cav set is better than almost all the GC stuff,
Storm Sergeant's Skirt(not a female only item, actually looks good with the Cav set) was the only thing that was better from the GC.

Cav was 85 85 +7 Str +8 Vit

GC skirt was 88 88 +7 Str +8 Vit
