Jessica Chobot: Stepping Into Daylight by Polygon

Well she could write good stories for who knows, but yeah I remember the controversy with how she was handed a job. Never thought she was a good gaming journalist. Then again most videogame stories are rubbish so maybe she can hit the jackpot.
I will say I was shocked to see that she was featured in Mass Effect 3.

Her ME3 appearance comes to mind every time, was there no one at BioWare that said "this looks off"?

Nice feature article.

I always liked Jessica Chobot at IGN.

The documentary is well done. More women should join the gaming industry and show that this industry is facinating, artistic and all that.

What? What happened to make her a liability?

This thread? The Internet? The fact that guys scour the web for videos of women doing sexual things for their own amusement but when a women uses it to advance her career they immediately discredit anything she ever does?

For what it's worth I've met with with Jessica to discuss Daylight and she was remarkably passionate, articulate and demonstrated an educated perspective on horror and horror games. Plus she was pushing for some straight up legitimately disturbing themes and content that even the Zombie studios director felt uncomfortable with.

I would recommend waiting to experience the finished product before jumping to conclusions. Or, you know, speculate away.

Good article thanks. I don't mind her at all and what she has been talking about around the game is actually more interesting to me than most.

I totally misread the article as saying that she IS a trained writer. She isn't even trained? Wow okay. that's...Strange.

"This girl can really lick a PSP! We should hire her to write our game!"

Dont really care that she's working on the game, but to say they're not doing it because of her name makes me lol. At least be real guys.

This is one of those times people give too much meaning to what idots on youtube comments and internet forums say. So what if she licked a psp 7 years ago who gives a shit, shes doing a job writing to get paid just like everyone else in the world. I wish her all the luck in the world, just wish people like jessica and those in jobs in the industry would give places like this and youtube less meaning as the internet is full of those who shout louder and hide behind the anonymity the internet gives. Most wont care that shes the psp licker just the tiny minority of internet trolls.

Yes? She was able to land her dream job and live a happy life free of worry because she's hot.

A failed marriage? House foreclosed on? Maybe she's working at her dream job now but if you read the article it was obviously a circuitous route. I don't know her but the article doesn't paint her the way you are making her seem at all. Seems like she is very passionate about what she does.

I'm kinda jealous that she at a young age went to check out abandoned scary hospitals like Sheldon Hospital. I never did that as a kid since nothing like that was near me. Must have been an awesome experience.

So if she's not a writer, and her journalism was only mediocre.. what merits does she have for working on this game? I mean, why exactly hire her?

Jess was never a journalist. She was a host-for-hire. Those are her words, not mine.

Good luck Zombie... you definatly are taking a different approach to a team and building this game...

Let's she how it goes.. although alot of people (LADS) similar to me are now turned off. You will need to bring it to win me over :)

Chobot... what you got?

On an early episode of Girlfight she talks about about how she got into the business. I don't remember the whole thing, but the PSP picture had little to do with it.

I think she started by sneaking into conventions and do guerrilla style interviews with developers?

I listened to Girlfight when she was on it. I agreed with her opinions on most things on there, a really intelligent passionate person and gamer, looking forward to this game of hers.
