Here's something positive for VITA

The latest NPD figures revealed Dragon's Crown VITA at <29k and PS3 at 60k. Compare this to Japan where it sold 108k+ on VITA and 149k+ on PS3. The attach ratio on VITA for some of these titles is crazy. From what i heard, the store ratings for VITA version are also higher than PS3 version. I think this bodes well for potential future Vanillaware titles since they have somehow a pretty good audience on VITA :)

I hope Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD also shows similar numbers so that i can finally relieve my dream of playing FF XII qHD on VITA and owning a portable that has every worthy FF title on it :D

I guess that some of you didn't have a psp, the lack of localizations was a great plague even on psp, think of type 0, valkyrie chronicles 3, yakuza black panther 1 & 2 and many many many many more, it's totally not a vita exclusive problem...
Not that this makes me feel better... but at least now there's some hope with that new sony department.
There were loads of titles that got localized on PSP, even the extremely niche ones. The ones you mentioned like Type-0, Valkyria Chronicles 3 saw no localization because they were released at the end of PSP life cycle, especially in the West. Piracy had been so rampant in the West for PSP that software sales were downright horrible hence these titles went into a limbo of never getting localized.

They're about $10-12 at Gamestop (the protector set). They're official Sony brand and they go on super, super easily.
I bought one at Amazon for $5 and the official Headphones for $10. My bro also surprised me with a 16gb card and the Vita Vault Case along with his promised 3 month ps+ so i dont have to buy those anymore XD.

Now to games, im getting P4G but not now, im knee deep into other Jrpgs and i cant really start another one. Im interested in Soul Sacrifice but Ragnarok Odyssey also looks great. So between those two whats a better game?

NPD only tracks retail sales right? If so, then I'm sure Vita/Ps3 ratio is even higher since Vita owners lean far more towards digital purchases.

Haven't you read the "many many many many more" part? There are LOTS of unlocalized psp games, if you think that only late games weren't localized i suggest you to look better.

Look at the lineups ;)

I think the only game that I *ever* considered buying a PSP for was UGnG... and even then, I was just hoping they'd do a PSP emulator for PS3 to allow me to buy the digital version and play it at home.

Vita has a ton of games that interest me... could the library be better? Always.
Fuck, SCEA needs to stop screwing around and get the rest of the PSP/PSOne games available to us Vita owners... but the platform is growing and that's a good thing.

Look at the lineups ;)

I have. Here's a list of what SCEA published at retail on PSP in 2006, PS3 in 2008, and Vita in 2013:

PSP
Ape Escape: Academy
MLB 06: The Show
Pursuit Force
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
Daxter
Neopets Pet Pet Adventures: The Wand of Wishing
Lemmings
World Tour Soccer 06
LocoRoco
NBA 07
Gangs of London
ATV Off Road Fury Pro
SOCOM U.S. Navy Seals: Fireteam Bravo 2

PS3
MLB 08: The Show
Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue
Singstar
Buzz! Quiz TV
NBA 09: The Inside
SOCOM U.S. Navy Seals Confrontation
LittleBigPlanet
MotorStorm: Pacific Rift

Resistance 2
Singstar ABBA

PSVita
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time
MLB 13: The Show
Soul Sacrifice
Jak & Daxter Collection
Killzone Mercenary
Tearaway
The Walking Dead: Season One
God of War Collection

Tell me Vita's lineup is better than PSP's.

Tell me Vita's lineup is better than PSP's.

Ok. Vita's Lineup is better than PSPs. Soul Sacrifice alone kills it. Add in Killzone Mercenary and there are two games I've bought day one and would have considered buying the console for whereas there are ZERO games I've even considered playing in the PSP list you posted.

It's all personal preference though.

Again 8 years psp vs 1.5 years vita, can you honestly say that after 1.5 years the psp was better than vita? Imo not at all.

Yes. of course and definitely PSP was way better. in a year and a half PSP got GTA Liberty City Stories, Midnight Club 3, Outrun, Tekken: Dark Resurrection, Metal Gear Acid, Coded Arms, CM 2006, Naruto,Viewtiful Joe 2 (and MH?) also major exclusive first party games like Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, Daxter, SOCOM, Twisted Metal: Head-On..and NBA, FIFA, PES5, SSX and other sport games with shit other of other big named games.

first party wise PSP was better in the first year and half, same as third party (both western and Japanese) in that time period, PSP got killed soon after that tho.

I love my Vita, but have to agree with Takao.

Also agree with Takao. SCEA should do much better. Sure, they are putting a lot of effort on their indie initiative, which is not a bad thing imo., but they should put just as much (if not more) effort in their third party relations to localize exclusive japanese games at worst or bring new content to Vita in the west at best.

Look at the lineups ;)

Crisis Core came out in 2008, 4 years after the PSP release. We are already getting FFX/X-2 and if they do well, perhaps even FFXII by that time, so I'm still hopeful :)

The only games I would even consider playing in your PSP release list is Daxter and maybe Loco Roco & Ape Escape. Syphon Filter was probably alright.

What digital stuff did you leave off? Too lazy to look.

Honestly I like the Vita linup better. The only games on the PSP list that I care about are Ape Escape: Academy, Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, Daxter and SOCOM U.S. Navy Seals: Fireteam Bravo 2 (but barely for Socom) And Daxter is the only one that I actually ultimately care all that much about.

For Vita I care about Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, Soul Sacrifice, Killzone Mercenary, Tearaway, The Walking Dead: Season One and God of War Collection (if it isn't shit). Sure, three of them are ports, but I like Soul Sacrifice and Killzone far more than any game on the PSP list, and the same will likely hold true for Tearaway.

VITA lineup is league above PSP one. That's for sure. But if you put third party line-up as well then VITA is definitely weak.

I think first party out put is better in the PSVita than PSP. Killzone and Soul Sacrifice both are games that can be played for a ton of hours. Tearaway is nice too. But, why haven't you listed Invizimals? It's not releasing in US?

I did say that i prefer VITA's first party output over PSP one but third party output is pretty damn weak on VITA.

SCEA's given no indication that they'll publish either of the Invizimals games.

What digital stuff did you leave off? Too lazy to look.

Bentley's Hackpack (multiplatform)
Epic Mickey 2 (port)
Open Me! (original)
Jacob Jones (multiplatform)
Pinball Heroes Complete (port)
Toro's Friend Network (original)
Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault (port)
Table Mini Golf (original)
Ecolibrium (original)

AAA lineup, Vita is beast.

No wonder it's selling 29k in the US in a price drop month. SCEA didn't release a single port on PSP in 2006, or PS3 in 2008. Ports make up a huge margin of their 2013 Vita release lineup.

Any footage and details about it?

I posted about it a few times so I won't quote the entire post again but you can view it here

Why support a Kickstarter that doesn't have a confirmed Vita release?

Not if they're as awesome as Vita's Jak port.

why? the Sony guys are on it and the dev has mentioned the thought of it so to me, it is more or less confirmed

and it's great :D

Ah Takao's list wars again - I wonder if you have that bullshit saved to a word document just to trot it out time and again.

Could you add some things to that list for me that might make it, perhaps, a little more meaningful in terms of an argument? You know, small things like:

1. Size of userbase relative to each title
2. Rate of adoption of both platforms
3. Retail presence for both platforms (amount of floor space dedicated per store)
4. Number of retail outlets displaying both platforms
5. Hypothetical I know - but how many of those retail titles would have made the shift to downloadable only since?

And here's a kicker for you chap

6. User's buying habits (retail vs digital) and ATTACH RATE of both machines.

Anyone can jump on wikipedia and copy paste - maybe do some work to provide some weight to your argument? Until then people will continue to post "Here we go again" to your tired bullshit. No-one wants to do that.

Not if they're as awesome as Vita's Jak port.

I don't know about 2 and 3. But at least the first J&D is enjoyable. Once you pass the first hour or so the framerate gets good. 30 fps but good. Enough for most people, I'm satisfied with it.

I'm not playing Jak 2 or 3 anytime soon. I need to rest after getting pissed almost everytime I play the game. I'm only going to platinum the first because I have an unhealthy love/hate relationship with the game and I don't want to feel like playing it never again lol.

SCEA would be hard pressed to answer some of your requests, forget me. Some of the stats like attach rate have been completely broken due to things like PlayStation Plus and downloadable content that PSP never had the benefit to.

I don't mean to come across as aggressive, or singling out you in particular (been a long week) - but these are the kinds of things we need to know to make sound judgments about the Vita.

29k sales this month in the US? Sure - that's pretty weak. But all the home consoles sold poorly, and the Vita only had Killzone to back up the price drop, which, for whatever reason, didn't coincide day and date.

There's been mismanagement, it seems, though Sony readily admitted that the market they wanted for the Vita has changed. But, only from what we're told, the attach rates for the Vita (particularly digital, where profit margins would be higher) are extremely healthy.

I'd like to see more HW sales though.

Tell me Vita's lineup is better than PSP's.

Vita's lineup is better. I own ten times the number of games on my Vita than I did on PSP. Also looking forward to more Vita games in the next year than I was remotely interested in on the PSP's entire lifespan.

Kinda depressed lately and thinking about impulse buying a Vita game. Was eyeing Need For Speed since I enjoy racing games. Do you guys like the Vita version?

While the game is the best racing game on the Vita, that doesn't exactly say much; the graphics are BAD (b/c of non-native res and texture filtering), sound quality is absolutely atrocious (don't even think about playing the game with headphones), and the handling of the cars plus the pop-in equals a lot of crashing (extremely boring crashes compared to Burnout Paradise, mind you).

Still, if you really want a racing game, it can't hurt to try it out.

Just downloaded Limbo tonight. Another game from PS+ I forgot I had!

Anyway, a couple of weeks in and I am loving the Vita. I am currently going through a huge backlog of PS+ titles, but want to get KZ fairly soon. I particularly looking forward to Dragon Crown and Mura' Rebirth when they finally drop in EU land, going to be an awesome few months!

The only thing that is annoying about the lack of 3rd party support is that there are no boatload of JRPG's. The only reason I bought a psp was because it was a JRPG haven.
Sony really needs to understand who bought the Vita.

1. Gamers that want Console like games
2. JRPG fans.

Until Sony realizes that they aren't going to sell the thing.

I can see the difference in the types of exclusives and the appeal. Some heavy names and good games in there, but man that's a hell of lot of sports that I could give no kind of shit about... the ports Vita has gotten are world's apart in how legitimately good and essential they are. Ratings wise the Vita seems to be better too. I went by Metacritic for easy sorting but someone can do GR if they want to.

Soul Sacrifice is aparently better. Don't buy Ragnarok Odyssey right now, an expansion called Ace is coming soon. And there is an expansion of Soul Sacrifice (Delta) that it's going to be released in March in Japan (it will be here 2-3 months later).

lol now im kinda scared to buy both games XD. I'll try the soul sacrifice Demo though.

They're rated. If you're one of those "mobile games aren't games" people, that's on you. You can mentally remove the 6 PSM games if you want, and just look at all the others.

Sony views PSM as an Android platform first.

The seemingly 99 to 1 ratio of games to apps on PSM would say it's a platform for Android game development moreso than it is anything utilitarian. Sony released a game for PSM and no apps, so they must consider it a platform and storefront for games.

Bought Killzone Merc.. started it up and my Vita froze. Lol, nice way to start.

Game is pretty good so far. It's damn difficult on veteran at points, I'll tell ya that. Graphics are fucking amazing, of course..

Looking around felt extremely awkward at first but I got used to it for the most part within 20 minutes. While the Vita does have dual analog, FPS games will never feel up to par with console versions, because the Vita's sticks just aren't big enough.. that said, they're just the right size for such a device; I wouldn't want them any bigger, because then the device would be less portable than it currently is.
