I'm not sure about the roster tho because of few things, so.
1) Bowser JR. I'm not convinced about him being in the game
2) It might down to between Dixie Kong or King Rool, but I'm not sure about them
3) Laughing Dog have very very low chance to be playable. He would be perfect for Duck HJunt Stage where he would randomly shown up and laughing at the players.
4) Snake, Sonic and Pac-Man. I'm not sure if they would get in the game or not.
5) I can't really see few characters coming back like Ike, Jigglypuff, etc.

He's from Mystery of Murasame Castle, a top down action game for the NES that was released alongside The Legend of Zelda (like Kid Icarus was with Metroid) in Japan. He recently was given a mini-game in Nintendoland, and appeared in a Wii-exclusive Samurai Warriors game.

So that's who it is, I saw the name pop up a few times here and there but I always assumed it was some third party character.
It'll happen when we least expect it ie 1 hour right before it airs.
The problem with Duck Hunt Dog is that, despite his best efforts, Sakurai (and his team) are very much Japanese. Do they even realize there's interest there? I never got the impression that Duck Hunt was popular in Japan, nevermind the Dog getting a cult following like he has in the West. I don't think he's impossible but he's very low on the list of "obscure old Nintendo characters" to include.
Little Mac is in the same boat, but between his Wii game, his appearance as an Assist Trophy, and his general visibility in Nintendo canon, his odds seem much better to me. Plus, he balances Takamaru well, both being culturally relevant well-known characters from America and Japan respectively.
I'm sort of doubting we'll see both Lucario and Mewtwo since they fill sort of similar niches (special humanoid energy-using Pokemon [that can be used to show off Mega Evolution]). Plus, five character slots on the main screen seems like a stretch for any franchise... I don't think we'll be seeing that this time around if ever.
I'm more and more convinced that Ike will be returning and, though I have no idea if this is even possible, I'm starting to feel like Lucina will get in over Chrom as the Awakening representative. I just get the impression she's a lot more popular than Chrom is (for example, Lucina got a figurine and Chrom doesn't even seem to be in the works). Plus, she'd work as a pretty solid semi-clone (Lucas to Ness) of Marth.

Melee had 5 character slots for the Mario franchise. That wasn't even including Yoshi.
I don't think 5 slots for Pokemon is an issue because there was a precedent for it in Melee, not to mention Mewtwo was attempted for each Smash title so far and is being considered for this one. I see Lucario and Mewtwo coexisting just as they were intended in Brawl.

You can actually disable the bottom part of her dress using the debug menu in Melee (I remember it's disabled by one of the taunt directions, but you might have to change an option to allow it).
Yea that's the Neji moveI was thinking about. lol Been awhile since I watched the show. Her down Smash in Melee was basically that dangerous in some cases.
And I'd take Daisy as a new Mario repping the spinoff titles over Waluigi any day of the week.

2) I'm actually one of the very few who thinks that Donkey Kong will be getting four reps this game. Both Dixie and King K. Rool are strong characters with a lot going for them and little in comparison holding them back. I'd be surprised if either got left out, let alone both.
3) Yeah I really don't think we're getting Duck Hunt Dog in this game. I'd axe him.
4) Pac-Man is basically guarantee because of the Little Mac, Mii and Pac-Man leak. Heck, I'm surprised that all three haven't been revealed already. Sonic I feel will return because of his massive popularity and being by far the most demande character ever. As for Snake, if there's any veteran that's going to be cut, Snake is by far the one in the most danger.
5) I'm confident that Jigglypuff will return. If Jigglypuff hasn't been removed by now, then I don't see any reason why Sakurai would remove Jigglypuff now. Ike I also feel will very likely return because his situation is much different than that of Roy's in Brawl (who was planned to return but probably got cut due to time constraints) and is in a better position overall. At the very least, I can't imagine Sakurai just simply replacing Ike with Chrom.
Lucario and Mewtwo share only two moves with each other, which is where the comparison ends. Outside of that, they're unique enough to where both can easily co-exist. I also don't see how seven characters (transformation included) is a stretch when Brawl was planned to have seven, if not eight, characters.
