I think we will get Orchid in the first round, giving us two female characters. While round two will give us two more female characters, Kim Wu and Maya.

Are Western fighters typically well received by the Japanese FGC? Games like MK9 and Skullgirls in particular.

Japan loves the shit out of Skullgirls, I don't know about MK9
 
TJ is the lamest character in KI. I will be so pissed if he's the 6th. (although he probably will be because DH wants to milk fans for the popular characters later)

How would DH be milking fans for popular characters later? You think the second season will cost more than the 1st? The second season will release with a bunch of characters just like the first. I'd be shocked if it weren't priced the same as well (with KI2 arcade included instead of KI1 for the higher version). If you only want to buy an individual character you can do that right now for $5.00 and I don't see why that would change later either.

Because MS knows as well as I do if you put the most requested charecters in batch 1 there is less of an incentive for people to buy batch 2. Make the first batch top heavy in less demanded/new characters and save fulgore and orchid for later for an addition $20/$40 guarantees extra sales.

Milking isn't really the right word.

Microsoft KNOWS there are fan favorites, and people will pay to get them. It makes more sense to split the fan favorites between both season one and two. It will force people will buy both seasons, as well as continue playing.

Its the most logic thing for sure.
I just want Spinal :/

I actually think Spinal will end up being #6. He's pretty iconic and was on the cover to Killer Cuts after all. They will keep fulgore, orchid, and cinder for season 2. The last few for batch 1 is more than likely TJ Combo, Spinal and either a new or KI2 character
 
I hope they give us an indication of who the last two will be after the reveal. Obviously if its not Orchid I think fans would be happy knowing she's at least making it in during the first wave. Then again, everyone has a favorite and its impossible to make them all happy. As long as its someone from the original roster this time I think it should go over alright. Looking forward either way.

Nope! The problems with the game have only gotten worse since DOA5, so outside of the work I have to do for it for Prima, I have no desire to play the game. Not to mention the only character I liked in DOA5 was MIla because she had tools that allowed her to get around the rampant guessing game... and now every single one of those tools has been removed. Now she plays like a DOA4 character, which is a horrible, horrible thing.
 
New game, new mechanics! Also, would be fun to beat up someone with a feathery dino.

But feathery dinos look so cuddly... deceptively cuddly! It'd be graphically stunning, if you rendered all the feathers in fine detail too.
 
better be fulgore.maybe its orchid since she is asian.

i havn't played KI in a long time, but i always thought orchid was black.
maybe it's just the way Rare rendered the character, but even then, in KI2 she looks like 'melina' from total recall (the one with arnie). seriously. lol.
 
Been a fan of KI since the 1st and loved both KI and KI2/Gold very much. My jaw dropped when I saw this new KI at E3 and made me want an X1 badly since I even I wanted to get it next year but instead I preordered it for day one!

Now as more info has been revealed it has gotten better from gameplay to reveals and such. I do hope Orchid is next because she's one of my favs, maybe my all time fav KI character.
 
So, I played KI at TFC now. Note that this is only like 6 / 9 matches impressions.
•First note: Saber and Jago's stage have frame drops! Glacius and Thunders stage are perfect.
•I noticed screen tearing.

The initial feeling is SO WEIRD. Non-shadow reversals kinda suck. I feel like I should be hitting a solid DP, but I wake up, see that I'm counter-hit, and getting combo'd into an attacks.

Thunder's tick command throw is crazy good. I swear he throws the opponents before you, or they know what's happened. Thankfully, this doesn't hurt, so who cares, lol.

Sky Fall feels pretty worthless for movement. Can it at LEAST instant recover on wiff? It recovers so slow, I don't feel like I want to use it at all ;/

Back throw feels pretty cool. I really like the utility.

I REALLY want to be able to cancel blocked normal into command normals? Please? Similar to KoF, I'd like this to be a safe way to approach. This early "no one's doing big combos" gameplay feels kinda slow and non-threatening because aggression is so straight-forward. It could use more than "poke... do your safe special... stare at each other..." (Super jump / Dash Cancel / normal > command normal) would all be simple options to add a bit more variety.

Jumps are SO floaty. Though I think SFIV jumps are floaty too. Filthie was telling me how great Jump medium kick was for Thunder... I want it to be even better! I guess I just want a body-splash box, lol. It is satisfying when it works, however! (So thanks!)

Shadow Call of Earth feels totally unfair, lol. It's so good! It's the most satisfying thing to do with Thunder ATM (screw ultras, I was SCOtE!). I was defaulting to Crouch-Heavy or stand medium kick - Sammamish > Skyfall, personaly

I played like... 1 round of Glacius. FULL SCREEN AUTO DOUBLES... don't make sense to my mind yet, lol.

I quite like what I played, but I definitely feels like you need to LEARN it. It doesn't just feel like everything else, which makes it feel pretty unique, even at this point. As a person who loves playing guard point with Maxima in KoF (Did it in tourney today!), I feel like Thunder could use MORE intimidation tools than he has now, but maybe that's just the desires of a KoF fan showing through. (I also want a hop. I hope someone in this game gets a command hop as a character trait!)

I feel like the game is very fundamental-zoning focused, which is odd, because I felt like old KI's footsies where as boring as could be, lol.

Still looking for strong variations between different strengths of the same move. So far, it has that "weak is safe, strong goes further but is unsafe... medium is just... there" feel to it. do thunders non fierce COtE DO anything in combos? "LoL, you whiffed, now get punished!"
