Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

So... bah, apparently now if I want to go physical with Mercenary all that's left is Region 3 carts. So let me ask you this, VitaGAF:

1. Will the patch downloaded from PSN US can be applied to Region 3 games?
2. I am concerned about the possibility of DLC... will this game have any DLC?
3. Can I still play multiplayer online with my PSN US account in Region 3 games?

Any answer would be appreciated... or worse comes to worst, maybe I will just download the digital version -______________-

I think it will be coming - Shahid and YosP were... hinting on twitter.

They aren't going to launch 2 devices that could send mixed messages.

Well, I figured as much. I just don't understand why they'd announce a product only to be mysterious about its release date in the West. Doesn't make sense. The existence of one could actually bolster support for the other.

gah I'm almost convinced to go for a BlackBerry Q10 at this point

Blackberry is about to be sold/closed any day now, I'd hold off.

1. Patches can be downloaded even if your PSN ID is not the same region as the cart.
2. I expect possible multiplayer map DLC in the future. This is the type of game that screams DLC.
3. Yes. Multiplayer is only an issue if a game has an online pass since you obviously can't redeem the code (KZM does not have an online pass).

Gah... you are correct in this.

Gahhhhhh........................................ So maybe I need to buy the digital version after all.................. Bahhhhh.

Overall, it is very mediocre. The gameplay becomes really repetitive once you gain a couple of key abilities midway. Once you have them, there is absolutely no reason to use any of the others you gain. It is also relatively short for an RPG.
.

i knew i should have listened to this post.

20 bux down the drain. :(

Fuck, I want to buy both Outland for PS3 and Stardust for Vita, but I as I see those were IGC freebies ages ago (when I obviously wasn't a subscriber) and not having any kind of plus discount I just can't bring myself to do it.

GAF, should I do it or forever dwell in my own misery of Outlandless and Stardustless existence?

I guess you want it for the keyboard? Because that's all it's really got going for it in my opinion.

yeap mainly the keyboard.
and well some of the OS level features too like the Hub and etc

tell @yosp about #PuppeteerVita :X

Damn i am wondering whether i should get a Vita OLED NOW or wait for an even cheaper price once the 2000 model hits the streets or maybe they will come out with a X-mas pack or whatever hmmm any danger of it being retired by then? Also what are the chances of a further price drop on the OG model?

Price drop? Zero. Sales? Very likely. I'm sure you can find a good deal if you look around.

I managed to get mine used for 150€, but I have a hard time seeing another price drop for the old model.

So im buying a game today after work. Any recommendations?
P4G and Killzone are already in my radar and will be buying it soon. I really cant have p4g because im sooooo buried in other JRPGS, and Killzone is a tad bit expensive. But i do want a game now so what do you guys recommend?

Just picked up my Killzone bundle. £169 is a pretty nice price.

Only downside is it comes with an 8GB card, so I'll have to order a larger one, as am I fuck paying £60 for one in store.

Edit: I was somewhat worried after hearing horror stories regarding PSN download speeds, but I am pleasantly surprised! Killzone + the patch only took a little over an hour.

Just finished Persona 4 Golden and got the bad ending. Man, up till now I absolutely loved the game, but I have to say I really really dislike how they determine the ending you get. It's put me off going back for the time being.
To be fair, the game indirectly warns you it's a point of no return of sorts, right before you start answering the questions that define good/bad ending.

First time I played it on PS2, I missed the true ending because a) I had no idea it exsted and b) I saved the ng+ data over immediately after the credits. Old lesson learned: now I always keep multiple saves when playing RPGs.

Is it possible for the Vita to be able to have multiple PS accounts on it in a future update?
Cuz I would really love to play me them Japanese PSX games on DAT OLED screen along with my awesome EU Plus Vita freebies...

I lost my +150h Tales of Graces F data when I started a New Game +. And, now that I think about it. It was while I didn't have PS+ (I bought July games early that month and bought a new suscription in mid August), how i donwload saves from the cloud in the PS3? In the Vita is pretty easy.
__

Is P4G good/bad ending less clear than in P3? There it was like:
The world is going to be destroyed: do you want to try something or are you giving up?

I evidently choose the first option Giving up means losing your memories. If i have to die, at least I want to die knowing I have conquered multiple waifus through the year.

Just kidding

Can't you order from Play Asia? they have them in stock.

Btw, am I blind or is there no way to browse PS1 classics on the web store? I wanted to go through potentially great games for the Vita.

I want to brush the dust off my Vita but I don't know what to start. I have too many options! I bought Hot Shots Golf, MK, Disgaea 3 and Persona 4 before PS+ came to the Vita. I've already got a platinum trophy in Persona so that's out, but between the games I bought and the PS+ stuff I don't know what to play.

Guacamelee, Hotline Miami, or Spelunky. The latter two would be great to pick up and play between JRPG sessions.

Knytt Underground seems fairly glitchy as well, I keep turning into a ball randomly without pressing the button, and when I'm using the little green thing that lets you control where you fly it'll suddenly do a U-turn and fly in the opposite direction of where I'm trying to send it.

Price drop isn't going to happen. I'm waiting for a Black Friday bundle myself for max valuez. I WAS going to buy one this month as a b-day present to myself, but then my fat PS3 died and so I have to put that $200 into a new console.

I haven't had any trouble with bugs (although I did manage to get to a place I wasn't supposed to with the teleport power which crashed the game), but I absolutely hate the dialogue. The atmosphere is great but the dialogue tries its hardest to ruin that every time someone decides to speak.

Yeah, I really wanted to like Knytt. It looked really cool to me and I liked some of the concepts, but it was just such a tedious bore.

Those aren't glitches, you probably accidentally touch a screen or backpad. Happened to me quite a few times as well. You could try turning touch controls off in the settings, though I don't remember if you are able to do that

for fuck's sake. How can a multi-million/billion company fuck this up?

they didn't, Steam style is not ideal for the gaming handhelds market and will kill used game on Vita (and hurt Vita even more), and I want to be able to sell my boxed copies of horrible games I got, so imo this is good for Vita owners.

Retail in the console market is important. Look at the Xbox One and the backlash they got for essentially trying to tie CD Keys and an account system to retail discs.

It works in the PC space because PC retail is dead and digital is preferred. Trading, swapping, selling, all of that is still important to the console market. And to do that, tying a disc to an account isn't feasible.

Unless you thought they wouldn't tie anything and you'd just be able to put a cartridge in, download the game and sell the cartridge.

The yesterday's discussion made me think, instead of begging for resident evil and silent hill that probably we won't get and even if we do they would probably be mediocre action games, why don't you tweet requests for GOOD survival horror like amnesia and other pc games? They are way better and probably they have also more chances to be ported.
