Is the materia for gathering classes obtained the same was as all other materia? My perception is only 300 and I need to crank that up some to get HQ darksteel and gold....but those Gatherers Guile materia prices are...ugh.

I'm at lvl47 and my next story quest is lvl49. Finished my hunting log, so I guess I have to grind Fates now...? How boring, what a lame way to end off the game :(

Is it possible that I missed a group of quests somewhere? I've been checking high lvl areas with no luck so far.

Go check the Waking Sands or the main cities. There are a bunch of new quest chains that open up around that level, the game just does a terrible job of leading you to them.

So now that I reached 50 and I'm almost done with my relic quest, what do I do other than farm for darklight?

I don't know what DoH/DoL to go for because I've tried the first 5 levels of most of them and they feel very tedious. I still want to go for them due to having to make gil for future purchases though, which ones would be easiest to zone out on using the controller to play?

Also do I need to level all of the DoH ones to lvl 15 first?

no you get a xp boost for having a higher level class than whatever you're currently leveling

static 50%

haha, oops. I read somewhere that completing the story gave you a flat boost to xp on top of the 50% you already receive. I assumed it was "The Heat of Battle" but apparently you can't see that buff on your own character.

Is there a site that shows the rewards for story quests?

I really need to expand my inventory as I am getting into crafting.

You'll get access to retainers after doing the first three dungeon story quests around level 15-20. Shortly after you get access to airships.

Have GLD/PLD's here been putting all their points into VIT, or have people been mixing it up with STR as well? Is it worth considering the latter seen as STR damage bonus and damage mitigation would presumably also help you tank? Is pure HP really that helpful compared to mitigation/damage output? I'm asking purely because I'm interested, not because I think one is right or wrong. I want to hear another opinion on it is all.

Is it only me that the text for the red dots/camps/dungeons is gone, when you zoom in on the Map?

It's not just you, it's everyone who has the "show map text" option disabled (it's one of the side buttons on the minimap).

And zooming out does remove it temporarily yes, but not zooming in.

From what I understand, go pure vit.

End game you usually want the VIT to survive big hits.

I've researched GLD/PLD because I'm gonna be going that route after I get bored with LNC/DRG. I've read that you should go STR to enhance damage mitigation.

I think you focussing in one (STR or VIT) is a mistake. I mixed VIT and STR (15/15) and then my accesories are almost all going to VIT, extra HP always helps and the more the better chances you may survive a unpredicted situation. But I think STR is helpful not only because of dmg mitigation but the more dmg you make the more hate generation and is something that will help keep hate from people.

Welp, looks like my computer is starting to kick the bucket. Played this game almost non-stop for the first 2 weeks, but now I can't stay in-game for even an hour without my computer crashing.

Really? Damn...playing as a MRD and was pumping STR (though only a few points so far)...need to focus on VIT then :\
You could always switch later. I have been investing in strength myself, it just makes the solo fights shorter. I can always switch to VIT if I tackle the end game content.

I really need to get started on the group content myself: there are three guildhests and three dungeons waiting for me while I have no quests left and I can't unlock the next level hunting log yet. It is getting harder to tank.

I've been going str on my Mrd. You can always respec but I've read it's easier to get vit food and items at end game. Plus it doesn't really seem to make much difference is what I've read.

I've gone pure strength on my Warrior again (it seems to work better for me), I will get the rings/bracelet etc which boosts vitality instead of strength. We're supposed to have a lot of health anyways.

It's a problem with the game. Happens to me too. Fine with every other game I've played on the PC but FFXIV (since release) crashes my computer randomly. sometimes it's fine for hours at a time, sometimes it crashes the system 2-20 mins in 4 times in a day.
apparently more people have been affected with the latest patch but I dunno. It's been affecting me since release, phase 3 and 4 were flawless for me.

Shit, need to use Duty Finder again it seems. Toto-Rak time. I really need to get GAF friends to help me do the dungeons.

Are you on Ultros? People in the FC will probably help if you ask. I'll be on in a little while and can help heal if necessary.

Send me a FR. I'm only level 32 - I haven't budged since I've been doing other stuff. I really need munnies.

ID: Dawn Cunanan

Will do, as soon as I finish lunch. I'm Level 27 only, lol.

Yeppers, for Ultros. I have no idea what I am doing playing an MMO with my massive amounts of anxiety towards online gaming, but it's too addictive to not play!

I think its time for me to pack this game in because in all honesty there is like no fun here when there should be. I have spent the last 9 days shouting for a Hydra party and i have landed 3 all ended in rage quits. I have had the DF running constantly for CM, WP among others for tomes and it just constantly sits there for 1+ hours over and over with nothing. More than half of my FC isn't logging in anymore its like such a waste of fucking time at this point. I don't think I have ever played an mmo where the experience has been this shitty consistently.

Very few people on the server are really all that friendly, no one talks to anyone at all and half the places are empty its like there is just no point anymore I think its time to pull renwal and move on cause its all a waste at this point.

Thanks for the info! Was dreading the thought of having to buy a new PC since I just don't have the budget ATM.

just went to log on for the first time in a few days, got a 3102 error saying I was already logged in. Figure there is some butthole selling Gil on my account right now. Changed my password and downloaded the ios security token app (which I should've used from that start but Ive never had a problem in any MMO with hacking so I wasn't too worried)

I feel like ive played MMOs That would have the ability to kick the logged in player out by logging in on that same account. Might've just been Everquest though. Sucks knowing there is someone logged in and there's nothing you can do to disconnect them.

Womp womp :(

So went and bought a regular game, upgraded it to CE stuff and went about playing. Picked a lancer and manged to make it to level 10, quite enjoyed what I was playing. It definitely has that FF feel to it which is more than I can about most FF games these days. Only decided to stop when I had to get the courage stone at level 10, fighting enemies that can use spells that do pretty good damage can suck a major dick.

Saw ton of GAF tags online too.

On the GAF guild website, how do I get my Miqo'te's name to appear correctly (K'sonjha Xin)? It says I can't use that as my name because it's not all letters...and yet I see Miqo'te names on there.

That level 40 crafters gear that I crafted...

I'm sorry you feel that way. I managed Hydra on second try on a mix of pug + FC party. Definetly you need an active FC to avoid frustration you can get from DF if you have bad luck.

One advise that not many Hydra pug parties know is that you need 2 tanks in front sharing the damage of one of his attacks (it does easily 3k) or either your tank has full DL and can deal with it. Other than that is easier than Chimera.

Just cleared the Praetorium for the first time with a PUG full of first timers too.
Shit was intense and so fun!

Last scenes were cringeworthy though. Kinda underwhelmed by the story of ARR, compared to XI or even XIV 1.0.

So yeah, Level 27 crappy Pugilist (srsly) here who would love to have any kind Gaffers help him go through Toto-rak on Ultros. Never tried it, but scared shitless.
