Halo 2 made me want to get a 360 Halo 4 makes me think I can pass on Xbone

Halo 2 and all it's awesome fun on the original Xbox had me pumped to get a 360 and the prospect of Halo 3. It was probably in all honesty THE GAME to make me want to get a 360 so fast.

On the flip side after Halo 4 it makes me think I'll be okay if I just pass in general on the Xbone. I don't feel the draw that I have to get an Xbone cause it'll be the only place to play the next Halo title.

I'm not sure if this says more about me, more about how Halo 4 turned out, or just in general more about where the Halo franchise sits in the gaming world these days. I'm also not sure what this says about Microsoft and the handling of the Halo franchise over this generation in that it was the exclusive to make me want to buy their console this generation, but it's failing to do that for the up and coming generation.

Halo 2 made me want to get a 360 for Halo 3.

Microsoft's output since that point has essentially pushed me to PC and, now, PS3/PS4.

Halo 4 is considerably better than the shit fest that is Halo 2.

Completely disagree. Something was missing from Halo 4, I can't put my finger on it. It just felt like the same old stuff. I hated fighting the new enemies and the alien weapons were worse versions of the human and covenant equivalents. I think that game might have killed Halo for me and I was a huge fan of Bungie's work.

I'll most likely be moving on to Destiny for my next sci fi shooter fix.

Respectfully disagree. Codifying the multiplayer was the worst thing they coul've done, evidently shown when multiplayer population took a nosedive when Blops 2 was released. I seriously hope they go back to Halo 2/3's multiplayer in the 5th installment or I won't be buying it.

Microsoft really has to step up their first party development this time around. If it's going to be like the 360 I won't even bother picking up an Xbox One.

Oh God. I maybe agree on the campaign part (maaaaaaaybe, but I hated the Halo 4 campaign) but the multiplayer tells me that is not the case.

And if I would still be a huge Halo fan I probably would buy the Xbone, but now I am doubting too. Especially since I also did not like Reach.

I really enjoyed Halo 2 and Halo 4. If you asked me which one I enjoyed more, I would have said 2, but having replayed 2 on PC, I'm firmly in the 4-is-better camp.

Halo 4 was made to make money, as was 343i. Bungie made Halo games because they loved doing it.
This is very generalized though.

Halo 1 made me want to get a 360. Halo 2 left a bitter taste in my mouth, but I thought they would right the ship with 3. As it turns out, they didn't. And then ODST and Reach were terrible and 4 was appallingly bad.

So yeah, Halo is dead to me (long live CE) and Xbox One can rot.

Opinions gonna opinion.

In all honesty, if Halo is the only reason you want an Xbox One, and the franchise isn't doing it for you, I think you should atleast wait for the unveiling of Black Tusk's shooter, whatever Gear's Sequel is in the cooker, and finally TitanFall.

Yep, pretty much exactly the same feeling here.

Honestly think I put more time into Halo 2 than I did every other subsequent Halo combined...

Imo 343 played it save with Halo 4 and that's ok, it was their first try at a huge franchise but I hope they take a bit more risk with Halo 5.

Halo 2 was one if the best mp experiences I ever have. Halo 3 was still great halo 4 had lots of issues but I still think 343 might get it right with halo 5. I might be naive.

You, you sick bastard. Lol I will agree with the OP. Halo CE and 2 were the reasons I got a 360 before anything else. Just the thought of a next gen Halo got me so fucking pumped. Now, Halo is practically dead to me sadly.

Halo 4 just kind of disappeared from my mind as soon as I finished it. I remember enjoying it while playing, but I don't think I'll need to keep playing the Halo series.

Halo 2 campaign is way worse than H4 campaign. That ending was a massive kick in the balls.

Buuuuuut I get your point. Until I see more of Halo 5 I don't feel the need to buy an X1.

Yeah I'm really not that interested in Halo 5 or 6. Not because I disliked Halo 4, but because my interest in the franchise waned after Halo 3.

I still wish they would make PC versions of the newer Halo games, but that'll never happen. :(

Titanfall will make you want to own an Xbox One. I'd also give 343 benefit of the doubt, it was a new studio trying to get way from the shadow of Bungie. I'm sure their next outing will be much better.

Halo 4's campaign is a lot better than Halo 2's.

Didn't play much of Halo 2's multiplayer as I didn't have an original Xbox, but I've never been a fan of dual-wielding. Thought Halo 4's multiplayer was fun enough, though I'm not the type of person to play one multiplayer game forever or anything like that so I wouldn't call myself a multiplayer expert.

But Titanfall will be everywhere.

Plus, I'm not paying to play multiplayer ever again. Kind of rules out Titanfall on Xbox One, 360, and eventually PS4.

Game is technically multiplatform.

Titanfall is being released on the PC, XB1, 360, and a rumored PS4 version when the exclusivity runs out. You don't necessarily need to pick up an XB1 for the tile.

Personally will be picking it up on PC. The high movement speed of both the Titans and the players coupled with the non-ADS requirement for the titans seems to be perfect for M/KB controls.

You may know all of this already, but you would be surprised how many people do not realize Titanfall is a multiplatform game.

At least they can somewhat justify the cost with dedicated servers this generation. Last generation's P2P connection was laughable at best, complete scam in reality.

Now of course, but back when it was released Halo 2 multiplayer was unbeatable, I still can playback seeing Zanzibar being panned around at E3 that year, along with the destructible warthog being shot. Proximity comms was also great - totally miss not being able to talk to the opposition after a take down :(

Goddamn I miss halo 2, i'll be all over an online remake if it comes out

I know exactly what you mean OP. Halo 2 was just an amazing game on consoles and especially with that cliffhanger hyped the hell out of the 360 and the Halo 3 launch. Halo 4 on the other hand makes me not give a shit about a franchise I used to love. But to be fair my interest in halo started to wain even with Halo 3.

Huge fan of Halo. Killed over 100,000 throughout my time in the multiplayer since Halo 2 (was able to check thanks to bungie.net). That being said, Halo isn't what it once was. It's still a fantastic series and franchise, but it lost its grip on my after Reach. It's a great universe, but it's one that I don't feel the need to be a part of like I once did. But, to each his own.

Halo 4 is my favorite Halo title of them all, so it only makes me want an Xbox One even more. I thought the story and campaign were incredible.

Halo 4 is my fav single player campaign since Halo:CE. Multiplayer for Halo 4 is obviously not a hit. I think 343 will get things right with Halo 5.

It's easy for you to say that right now, but let's see you say that after they fully unveil Halo 5 at E3 next year.

I liked 4 better than Reach, but nowhere near as much as I liked 3. Halo was the reason I got a 360, but like the OP I'm just not sold on the next Halo to pick up the One. Yes there are other games that have me considering still buying one, but the point of the thread (IMO) is that Halo lost it's power to be THE reason to buy the next-gen console.

That's a pretty good point.

Halo 2 made everyone crave for what was coming next, and everybody knew that it would be on the 360. I'd expand on the point, daring to mention that Halo 2 alone was the reason why the 360 was backwards compatible.

Now, with Halo 4... I don't even know what to expect. It was such a letdown for me, especially the multiplayer. And I see what 343i has been doing since it's release, and it's absolutely NOTHING that assure me that they've learnt with the development and that things are going to be better.

EDIT: I feel like I have to mention that, IMO, yearly releases is what killed Halo this gen. They must get back to that level of hype, and only a 3 year release cycle can achieve that. Halo's not COD, and never will be. They must stop trying to copy it.

Wow, I've always thought Halo 2 was the worst in the series. Interesting how there can be such radically different viewpoints out there about these games.
