Here's the first thing to come to mind for me.

My brain keeps telling me stage hazard, stage hazard. At the same time I have to really question it and not just because I'm a rabid Ridley fanboy. When I think about every picture we've seen, the two holes were either there already or just out of view, along with the broken bridge. We've yet to see any of them intact. Of course I'm assuming Ridley destroys these things but he could very well fly through a hole and fly back out again.

He talks about Viridi and her reset bombs, we see them right away and we get to see Yellow Devil right away. I can't think of any other time during the last 2 games where he hinted at a stage hazard, of course no other stage hazard could be as important as Ridley. Sakurai mentions Samus's trauma appearing at any moment and I still hold strong that it was worded that way to keep us guessing.

People on the Japanese side of Miiverse barely discuss Ridley. Well they barely discuss anything compared to the English speaking side but especially not Ridley. On their side they talk about what game that came from and how Metroid isnt popular more than anything else, lol. On our side though Miiverse is rampant with guys wishing for Ridley and arguments against him. I have to believe Sakurai and his team notice all this and are literally trolling us. I mean they are people too, it's gotta be fun.

I'm also not one to think something like a stage hazard or gimmick means automatic unplayability. ROB, Game&Watch, Classic DK, are enough for me to realize that's not much of an issue. Before anyone jumps in, Other M Ridley is not the same as Ridley who ate Samus's parents.

In Sakurai I trust... To troll me into a raging monster when he turns out to be a stage hazard only.

Man, I've never been disappointed in the pic of the day so far. I've been indifferent and unenthusiastic but this is the first time I was genuinely disappointed. Like it almost is making me angry that he would post this picture.

Probably just the combination of the picture and then finally getting a direct and it being wii fit U (not bad actually) and wii sports (really?)

I can't see them having Other M Samus playable and then another game's Ridley though. It's possible, but it seems like Sakurai likes to keep a series' reps cohesive.

After reading so much of his interviews, commentaries and such, he strikes me as a silly gamer more than anything. Not so much a master mind that plots out every detail to drop bombs later but he just seems aware of how the fans dissect everything he says and enjoys baiting us. I'm sure he leads us on to be,I've certain things on purpose and sometimes not on purpose.

Though much like my Ridley theory, half of it only comes from our imaginations. Though on this particular board it seems like most people are joking when it comes to predicting what's next and why.

I think he'll just use the TP Zelda/Sheik because Link looks like his TP design. Then they could reuse the Ganondorf design too.

Like Link, I'm 99% positive Zelda, Sheik, and Ganondorf will be brighter, more colorful versions of their Brawl models with minor costume detailing changes.

Same here, but with Lyn, I was studying for a test while waiting for Japan Time, and I saw Lyn -fast forward- "what? no, it must be a mistake, assist trophy? noooooooooo"

Of course, I mean the Sakurai is making too much emphasis on the "size" of the hole and the stage that I'm pretty sure he wants people to believe that the stage is big and the tunnels are so big so Ridley can fit there, thus being a stage hazard, but I think he found a way to add him as a playable character and this is just a distraction.

I still remember where I was and how disappointed it was to see Lyn revealed as an AT. :/ On the bright side, lil Mac has a good chance imo. I'm rooting for him too.

We do know the Wii U version is in development at the moment, so, while unprecedented, they could always grab the models from the new game, if they exist.

Dr. Mario and YL aren't going to be in P:M because they already incorporated them into parts of other characters (Mario and TL, respectively)
