Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

You guys figure it worth it to pick up a PS4 bundle near launch with no games? I figured I'd wait until sometime next year for a deal or a white model, but the thought of playing the free PS+ games (Drive Club PS+, Secret Ponchos) and F2P MMOs on the Vita is making me reconsider..

Yeah, I still have a preorder from Amazon but I might cancel it, but there is just nothing I want (Killzone don't look that at all, DriveClub not looking good with its 30fps). I know I want infamous 2nd Son day one, but that is in February

I think my $399 will go to PC/Vita games this fall and will pick PS4 when Infamous hit.

This SO much!! I never got to play ToV sadly since my 360 broke down i never went back and i'd really really love to play it after hearing good thins about it! Make it happen Namco!!

I support you:

Great game. Good story but awesome characters. Do it Namco.

Edit: You have to say me what hosting you use to upload images. I always have problems with them.

Valhalla Knights 3 due out October in North America, here details on the 7 races:
http://gematsu.com/2013/09/valhalla-knights-3-due-october-north-america

and a trailer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwLZFry5Vy4

I searched for infos about the real quality of the game, it seems to have many good changes(like saves in dungeon) compared to vk2, a good story and gameplay, on the bad side it has 10 seconds loadings(with on screens suggestions like skyrim), no voice acting and almost psp level graphics.

Will it come to eu?

Wasn't it supposed to be out in North America next week? That's the release date that had been promoted everywhere, I thought.

Sounds like a good idea to me. At this point, by the time I buy a PS4, Killzone and Second Son will be greatest hits and I'll get the for $20 or less if I have any interest at that point.

Damnit. How the hell did Sega acquire Atlus?? I thought they were also facing imminent bankruptcy??

I guess this means no more localisations of Vita games eh?

I can already see it: Persona 5 announced as Vita exclusive, no localisation. Angry mob protests, Sega of America/Europe ignores them.

Yes, Index (the parent company of Atlus) filed for bankruptcy, which is why SEGA Sammy bought them.

Yeah there is just nothing appealing really, even the new Samurai Yakuza is also on PS3 and nothing that scream "this is next gen buy me now" like it was in 2006, if I wasn't a big infamous fan I'll not even think of buying a PS4 till it get many good titles (like what I did with Vita).

and since I'm not getting PS4 I might actually buy a backup Oled Vita since this new screen

look so awful.

I might do just the same. I'd love a Vita in a different color though. I kinda get tired of the black.

The lack of brightness seems to hurt it... I wonder if the ghosting thing happens now too, since it's not longer OLED. I wish I could find that gif.

And since I'm not a huge inFamous fan, you nailed my perspective on the PS4 up there.

Picked one up yesterday. So far pretty impressed if ps4's Ui is as responsive as vita's then I will be impressed also.
Can't be said enough. The interface is far from perfect, but performance is outstanding - hopefully a sign of what they're looking for in the PS4 UI.

For the first time the other day, I saw my interface slowing down and chugging... not sure what caused it. I partially blame Killzone/having a cart in, but that's just speculation at this point.

Yeah, the artwork is nice.

But after watching the trailer, I'm a bit leery of it if it's full release only.

Yeah I would pay up to even $20 for the extra content alone (played the game for many hours so it's worth it for me)...but not sure about buying the same game all over again. They stand to make more money if they offered the new stuff as DLC

Exactly. I don't care if my character ports over, or some of my spells or soul level, etc... I can't justify $40 for a game that I've already played a large portion of, most likely, since it's not *entirely* new.

The Vita 2.0 is so ugly compared to the current one. It looks so cheap and plasticy (I know the current Vita is made of plastic, but it looks pretty high-end). And one of my biggest complaints is the new select and start buttons: they make more sense for pressing, of course, but the way that the text fits inside the CIRCLES is really off-putting.

is that screen border thing just for display?

I understand that they had to cut some things to make it cheaper, but the design looks nowhere near the elegancy of the Vita 1000.

Yoshida saying they're not going to do many mid-tier games.

But didn't people want more AAA games for Vita. The usual complaints were that the big teams were not working on it.

Killzone Mercenary isn't a mid tier game and neither is Freedom Wars or Tearaway IMO as far as the Vita is concerned.

Just got my Hori case.
The thing is pretty damn nice.

The pictures online of it don't do the case any justice. The case is 10x nicer than the official travel pouch.

I think the Vita 2000 is actually on the wall hooked into some kinda anti-theft display thing.

New update for Dragon's Crown just came through in AU. Also Play Asia has preorders up for US copies of Valhalla Knights 3.

I just came in here to post that the 1.02 patch is live in NA.

It would probably look the same if you put every third-party 3DS game that isn't MH on the other side.

Pretty much.

What's the point it's trying to make?

That everybody loves Monster Hunter?

Can we get one that compares the sales of Wii Sports/Wii Fit to all the 3rd party games on Wii?

Any word on the size of that dc patch please? May go for a quick walk...wifi hunting :p

Also, no wonder Vita got so many MH clones.

I dunno, there's probably some other big legacy franchises like Dragon Quest that would muck that comparison up.

Still, it it's any consolation that graph can't properly account for what is likely the Vita's biggest success in Japan. Phantasy Star Online 2 was getting praised in Sega shareholder reports for bringing in big bucks even when it "only" had a million users on PC, so with 650k now on Vita it's undoubtedly doing quite well for them.

The Vita hate machine is conveniently ignoring the systems growth

We all saw the writing on the wall with first party Nintendo and the monster hunter money machine

Third parties are showing no signs of slowing down the flow of vita games in japan though huh.

Pretty sure Level-5, Capcom, Konami, and Square Enix has slowed down their Vita support considerably.

SE didn't really drop software after software on VITA. They had a launch title and that's pretty much it. Their upcoming release is Final Fantasy X|X-2 qHD on VITA.

Level 5 released Time Travel but that was also a multiplatform project that failed on both handhelds. Their upcoming game Wonderflick is coming to VITA though but not 3DS.

I am pretty sure that Konami didn't drop the ZOE HD port but saw no way to port it to VITA considering the clusterfuck of port that it got on consoles. They aren't even releasing many games these days. They mostly revolve around MGS now.

The support has remained the same. Their is no drop.

Nah people think they are being funny and trolling Vita by saying that MH4 outsold all the Vitas LTD in Japan. I called out this shitposting and got attacked by NintendoGAF.

>< I thought you were part of NintendoGAF... why are they so defensive (or should I say so ready to doom the Vita) that they would attack one of their own?

saw this on twitter...
thought it'll be interesting to share

3ds_vita_mh34tmef2.png

saw this earlier this morning in the weekly MC thread....

*note* - the fine print says the graph doesnt take into account digital sales of games.

and we all know digital sales are typically much greater than retail on vita...

doesnt excuse the fact that monster hunter sales are astronomical as well is the installbase of 3ds.

I think the inclusion of digital sales may really skew the graph significantly
(but then again, there's eShop too... and some (a lot of them) may just prefer having the convenience of having MH everywhere even without the cart)

Capcom and SE announced 0 Vita games in 2012, while 2013 have had them each announce 1 (even if they are ports of mobile games). Level 5 announced 1 game in 2012, and now 1 in 2013. Konami you're probably right about, but their game releases have slowed down in general and they still put their baseball games on Vita.

And on the other hand, both Sega and Tecmo Koei have ramped up their support considerably.

Konami is hardly relevant anyway. They hardly make any games now, period.
