is 2.1 expected for this year?

liking the whole idea of boosted exp for dungeon tanking :)

There really aren't anything like dailys atm huh. I guess there are leve tickets.

Yoshida's mentioned dailies before and kind of talked about them as if they're coming in 2.1. He hasn't really gone into detail.

And yeah 2.1 should be late November/early December if they are going with their 3 months plan for large content updates.

Wonder how FATEs are gonna be after the initial rush of players die down. I know FATEs scale but you can't really solo many of them. Game really isn't designed around mob combat.

In a gametrailers interview from PAX(?) he said that it wasn't what they had in mind, but if people are having fun doing it then it's ok to have them being zerg rushed.

I know about the orange circle, but after aiming I either click again the ability on the slot with the pad or click with the mouse and nothing happens.

You don't click again the ability (which would be the logical way) you use X or A in your pad to fire it, after the orange circle is in the ground. It works like that on gamepad for every AoE circle skill.

- The rush has been died down. I see significant'y few players in nearly every city.
- They will have to re-adjust FATE difficulty once player population is stable.

I'm very curious how the PS4 version will look like. I know it won't be the same as PC ultra but if it can match PC high I might migrate to PS4 later.

Hey fellow PLDs - what do I need to do to make Curtana +1 and Holy Shield +1? Are they separate quests? Will I need 1800 myth tomes?

Thavarnian(sp?) mists. Buy them from one of Rowenas lackeys for 300 mythology each. Need 3 in total, i think its 1 for shield and 2 for sword, but it could be the other way around.

Most FATE's are broken into tiers

The small ones that pop constantly go through their 30 minute cycle, with 3-5 popping overall, so every 6-10 minutes one is up, for each range of level
They overlap each other and sometimes 2+ FATE's of each range are up at a given time

Mid-Tier ones are on 1-1.5 hour cycle and are almost Event FATE's (think Cancer, Gorgomera, Dark Devices, etc.) they constantly pop from TOD of the mob, the FATE can have a few minutes of delay but no more than 5 minutes

The Mega Tier so far are Odin and Behemoth, I think they are on a whole different timer regarding FATE's, nothing set in stone, just 72 hours from last showing
3 day intervals, timing is just random

Sooner or later the Small and Mid tiers do clash and afterwards, there will be downtime for official reset, no FATE's popping for 10+ minutes

This is correct. You can check the furnace near Gerolt to look at the costs, but it's 1 mist for the shield and 2 for the sword. Adding up to 900 mythology tomestones in total.
 
wheee we just beat odin on our server here. I got 20 gil for my trouble...

I find Odin significantly more manageable than Behemoth depending on where he pops in the Shroud. Behemoth seems to end in deaths you never see coming and getting anywhere near close enough to do damage means near instant death for the more squishy among us. Which is necessary to target him ever. Odin lets you come in close enough to do damage, get some good aoe heals or attacks in, and run away if you need to without the wave of dead bodies.

I would say the only issue is that there are so many people that you have to get in close just to target either of the HNM mobs, which can be a pain. I was literally on top of him for a decent amount of time to drop some damage on him.

I've been busy helping friends new to the game catch up on things and running Garuda farming to get weapons for FC people so I actually haven't even tried Titan HM yet, was there really some kind of legit lag problem? Because none of the fights I've done so far have had anything consistent.

The abilities in the game don't seem at all PvP-oriented. I kinda wonder how it'll go over for people who like that sort of thing.

There is going to be an entire extra set of skills for PvP in order for them to somewhat alleviate the spiral of suffering known as constantly re-balancing PvE skills for PvP.
 
I watched some PvP beta footage and people just cast sleep all day lol

PVP in the beta was extremely early and more for testing the infrastructure than the balance. Not very many details have been given but Yoshida announced that there will be specific move sets for each class/job for PVP. The balance will be completely different.
 
Anyone having problems connecting to the game?

It just stays on the loading screen once I select my character for a long time and then I just close the game and re-try with no change.

Yeah it's a server side lag problem. People weren't seeing his moves until they had already got their characters. In a fight like titan, this could be the difference between life and death.
 
Alchemy 50, check (once I polish off this pile of mats.)

Crystals really need to be smashable into shards. On the plus side, once all this junk finally sells I should have most of my money back.
 
Quick question folks.

I'm feeling an inexplicable desire to record my eventual victory over Garuda. I know I can record video with FRAPS, but is there are better program I could use? The recording quality isn't all that good, and the watermark is kind of an eyesore.

Square is doing the wise thing and just making a separate set of skills for PVP. Balancing a single set of fun skills is impossible. They are just 2 different styles of play AI vs. human. You can focus the PVP skills on equal balance while letting the PVE skills sat focused on carving out group roles. I'm willin to pet they will either remove CC from PVP or have CC breaker skills.
 
Everyone will get cactuar earrings, but will you also get bomb earrings? They're restarting the lottery because Titan was defeated 61 times.
 
So I've been going with WAR as main and DRG as off-spec for when I need to be a DD, since I prefer playing melee to ranged. It seems like I made the wrong choice for both.. DRGs do low damage and their only utility (slow debuff) can be done better by a SMN/SCH with no diminishing returns.. WARs are squishy and have no useful defensive cooldowns, though folks appreciate the high damage output.

I don't care anyway. From the day Pandaria launched, I played a Guardian Druid, which was considered to be one of the weakest tanks and lacking good defensive cooldowns, especially against spike damage. I routinely dominated the DPS meters and outlived the other tanks to boot. There were rough patches, but I stuck with it because the bad-ass factor was compelling. I'm sure with good play I can do just as well in FFXIV with the "weaker" classes..
 
man, this game just doesn't like it when I run dungeons @_@

if any of you were running aurum vale with a Liz Maddock then I'm sorry, game lagged, 90k'ed and now everything is down for me
