Seems like there's some bots around now. Friend was following some gathering bots around, their movement suggested they were bots anyway. Apparently some of them looked like they teleported to the next node... Anyone else seen this?

I've seen a crafter at Camp Overlook who was sitting in the exact same area for a day or so and crafted at a pre-determined rate. It seemed very...automated.

I'm guessing it was a bot.

I don't know what you guys are doing getting stuck at 46 > 49 , but I'm level 46, haven't even fought Garuda yet, and have entire major quest hubs I haven't even touched yet.

When you complain there are no more quests, are you checking every zone? Like, zoning in, checking the map, and moving on? I'm just not seeing this content hole.

Crafting's macroable.
Trains running loops are probably human multiboxers; it's really inefficient bot behavior because gathering points pop in different players for different people

The teleporters are probably botting, and should be reported.

How many runs did it take some of you guys to get your HM weapon?

I've done Ifrit 16 times now using DF (attempted it many more times) and I haven't even seen my weapon drop yet. Do you think these bosses should drop multiple weapons, maybe two weapons instead of one? My luck is terrible, I have seen the Paladin's sword drop like 3-4 times now but not an Axe, it's getting a bit frustrating.

And I finally made the jump and renewed my 1.0 account, low level lancer on Sargatanas. I also joined the group on steam... The name in game is Raphael Alain.

Used to be an hardcore player on FFXI for a linkshell on fairy, lvl 75 whm/smn/rdm, back in the school days... Now I guess I'll just play for some fun since I don't have the time to camp stuff anymore ^^

I agree.

I'm Level 44 and I just recently killed Titan. But then, I complete every single quest in the area before proceeding and participate in FATE events whenever they present themselves [but I don't actively seek them out]. I also ran Brayflow Longstep many times for my Battlemage gear, despite not needing use of it since I'll be getting new gear at Level 45 [class-related items]. I wanted it for Vanity Slots if [and when] they incorporate it. I love the look.

Great thinking, I didn't consider macro's.

Well, part of the issue is quests open up in areas you've been to previously in the story but don't go back to. An example is two quests opened up in Quarrymill in the 40s, but you don't ever have to go back to that hub, so most people won't realise they've opened up. Really, there should be some way to check without having to go to the area, or alternatively have a notification saying there is quests available.

Schism in Outer La Noscea is kinda annoying to do, ugh.

And this game has taught me that healing is a thankless job

And I LOVE the FF VI reference in a FATE with a golem boss called Number 128, that made me smile.

You can't macro gathering though in game. There's no way to do gamepad button/key press in the ingame macro's. The only way would be to make a macro outside of the game, which I'd guess is going against the will of the developers since it isn't doable inside the game.

Macros are great as they automate repetitive crafting but they don't take into account 'good' and 'excellent' states. Still the best way to level in my opinion though as you get full exp, unlike batch crafting.
"Quick Synthesis" is a waste. I really don't know what they were thinking implementing it, I never use it. The inability to get superior ingredients, as well as the reduction of XP, are the main reasons why. I guess it's okay if you don't need the XP or high-quality materials but personally I'd rather just craft it myself. :(

I am getting tired of making yarn/undyed hempen cloth, though. So tired...

pro mlg move

swap the trigger macros to the bumpers for ultimate victory.

although that doesn't matter if you bought the FFXIV official controller since they have two sets of bumpers

It really happened. The originally broken Final Fantasy XIV ended up as the first MMO that i really like to play and (probably) end up playing for a long while. Great job Squeenix in turning that one around.

I have 2 questions.

I would like to change my appearance a bit, but i hesitate in using my last fantasia potion, because i don't know if i ever will obtain another one. Do you think you will be able to buy those someday? (like in the Account Manger or so?)

And the other question is about mounts. For the most part i use the couerl, but just now i was using my chocobo and listend to the chocobo theme. At that moment a magitek armor was walking in front of me and it hit me. Does every mount have their own song and more inportantly, if that's the case, what song is playing when i use the magitek armor?? Now please make me happy and say Terra's theme!

Luck of the draw. Technically, you could keeping trying and never get one. For me, Ifrit around 10th run and Garuda on 1st.

Okay, I need to get a keyboard immediately.

This Haukke Manor run could have went so much worse than it did, and the healer was the only guy out of all of us that really knew how to tackle the dungeon (the tank wasn't terrible, but it was making some really crucial mistakes like losing aggro that would have been a wipe had the other DPS and I were not working somewhat in sync). And I was just trying to bring up suggestions to make it smoother (like marking targets, etc), but that PS3 typing method... Of course, I didn't really want to buy a keyboard even on the cheap until I was actually sure I was going to stick around, but nothing is more frustrating than wanting to communicate but can't.

Brayflox was a major step-up goddamn. But I loved how cinematic these dungeons can feel at times. Feels like a million bucks on screen. That was fun as hell and dramatic. Thanks again GAF party for the help!

The environments, graphics, music and presentation are all great. Combat is standard fare, and not as fun as Tera. There is no meaningful character building- you're going to be the same as every other toon of that class at that level.

Which is really sad, because if they opened up cross class skills a bit (either in what skills are cross-classable or in how much access jobs have) they already have a system which could address this.

I feel like bugging them about this, because overall I actually really like this game.

Managed to beat the final story dungeon today and do Wanderers Palace for the first time thanks to Gaf help (i'm Kaelian Serian fyi), was great fun, thanks for the help. Next up trying to do Ifrit HM and gear up for AK, can't wait.

That's why i currently have a 300 page fan fiction about my dragoon

As a Scholar I hate healing Aurum Vale I just suck at it, Eos keep dying cuz of yellow poison pools I think, isn't she flying over that shit?
But running it as a Summoner with a kick ass group is fun, finally got my Morbol pet too.

Anyone stick with one job/class for a while before starting another? I'm having so much fun with my archer, he is almost level15. Kinda just want to stick with him an do the story of the game.

The fumes from the pools are what hurt you. It is in the description of the dungeon. Fumes rise into your poor Eos's lungs and damage her. Pets are annoying in this game and every other. You either have to micro manage them or they end up killing themselves or running into things on auto. Pets imo should never even take damage especially environmental damage unless directly attacked by a mob since their AI behavior is frankly garbage. Their presence should also not draw enmity, only their attacks and heals.

I leveled up Marauder to 15 despite not wanting to do so for DRG, but other than that, I'm just going to stick to Dragoon when it comes to Disciples of War/Disciples of Magic.

I am leveling up Fisher and Culinarian, but yeah, only one battle class for me.

Ah, this one was lucky. Went to Ifrit because i needed 2 tomes and we were 2 war, managed to win the greed.

The problem I have with leveling other classes is that I simply do not have the Armory space to level all these different classes. If you level DoM as WHM then you get new gear every few levels from quest and dungeons. Am I supposed to Convert that gear that I could have used on my THM/BLM or SCH/SMN and have to replace that exact gear again as I level those classes. Seems dumb. Same with DoH or DoL Classes. You get new gear that is mandatory to not be a derp in those classes every few levels and can be used across the various classes, getting rid of the gear seems dumb to only have to get it again or craft it again. The only slot you know you will never need again is the Main/offhand weapons. You simply do not have the inventory space to level everything unless you level up all your DoM, DoW, DoH, DoL classes to a certain level and then get rid of the gear below that level. They really need separate armory for each of the different disciplines.

You could always store your current un-used gear on one of your Retainers.

What I would like is some notification on what class, if any, currently has that item equipped under one of my armor sets. It gets a bit confusing when I'm leveling multiple gathering/crafting classes at once, many with differing levels. I never know what's safe to get rid of. ~_~

To be honest, even if there was meaningful character building, everyone would still build their characters the same way. That's how it is in every MMO. One or two builds are "what you should have" and the community won't accept anything else.

Yep. Any build required game has always had the one or two defacto builds that if you don't do, you end up sucking. I don't like having to worry if my character is going to permanently suck or I'm going to have to pay them like 10 dollars to reset a build. The only meaningful stat customizer I've seen in a MMO was PSO with Mags.

And to also be fair, sometimes the illusion of choice is a better feeling then no choice. For an easy example, older FF games you still were gonna follow the same path just about start to finish, but are they not still better then actually having only one direct path to follow start to finish like in FF13?

That's odd... I've never had that happen before. Tried re-doing it?

That's not the only time it's happened, I've noticed it happening for the past two days now. Squarenix apparently hate healers getting short queues too I guess.

Edit: I feel I should explain this more, for the past two days I have seen the duty finder find me a group to join only to not do anything for 10mins+ where it will then say Duty Ready.

Retainers are messy at this point as well. Everything is all over the place and mine are nearly full. I could spend half my time organizing things that were automatic in a SNES game. What I would like is a good ol fashion FF Optimize button for different classes. FFV had it. Why not this? Wading through heaps of gear is getting really annoying.

That's because only a certain number of groups can do an instance at a time. You have to wait for the game to reserve an instance, even if you already have a group.

This is usually only a problem with the 50 dungeons, especially AK.

I was thinking this was the case, you're right though I've only experienced this while doing AK.

They're messy because you're messy.

I have 50 WAR and 50 MNK. I have 50 CUL, 50 CRP, 35 LTW, and 31 FSH.

My char is only using 1.1 bags. My 2 retainers have things setup with plenty of space and things sectioned for cooking, fishing, carpentry/leatherworking, materia, and to be sold. No need to even spend half your time organizing, just put some thought into it.

I went all the way to 50 before touching anything else. I then took botany to 50 and now I just make monies.
