I guess you didn't read the ToS for Xbox Live. With digital puechaes you're buying a license. It's much different from a physical copy. If you break the ToS for digital games, you are at risk of losing access to those games. You can try calling them, but if their system flagged you then you must have done something.

Can't believe some people are defending this. Taking advantage of a well-known exploit to get free games shouldn't be bannable. MS should plug the hole and eat up any of the losses. That's assuming it was the Oman thing, anyway.
And technically since it is digital, there are no losses, MS just has to revoke those game licenses. Banning the entire account is way over the top.
The only reason such an action should be taken if he was committing fraud, like using stolen credit cards. That's something I could understand shutting down an account for.

You can still use the Console and you can still use the account, just you can never connect online again.
Any Digital Games already bought and downloaded onto your Xbox 360 can also be played, just you can't redownload any past purchases.
It's still your console. It's just a brick now as well.

Highly doubt it was for Oman. If it was like Wario said Mass Bannings would've taken place. The most you can do OP is raise a stink about it online. The practice of being banned and not knowing what for needs to go. I can't think of any other company that will issue bans and not tell you why.

This is possibly the most thoroughly pissed off I've ever heard MS being about anything. That's pretty surprising.
Happened with me and Steam back in 2008, actually. Suspended my account without so much as an email warning, took me 3 weeks to get it back. To this day, I've never figured out exactly why since they just reactivated it without a word.
Again, from what he's posted in the other thread he didn't get banned for actually taking advantage of the free Oman games, rather he shared the games with three different people and consoles and got banned for that.

What exactly are people talking about regarding "sharing" or "duplicating" games. I didn't think it was even possible to duplicate games. You're just taking your accounts to other systems and signing in under your account, right? Isn't that a legit feature? You know, legit digital purchases where you take a game around on a USB stick to another console?
I mean if you're doing it with a free game from an region-changing exploit, then I guess that's the catch?

Except it's not the equivalent of that at all. That's actually a pretty terrible analogy. You aren't buying games when you buy DD, you are paying for a license to play a game. That's it. You might disagree with that fact, but it's the way it is. You know that going in and agree to that when you put your money down. If you don't like those rules vote with your wallet and use another service (Steam, PSN) or buy physical.

It happens like a lot to get demos from other regions. I know a lot of people who own a 360 that have different accounts to get demos faster.

Depends where you live. The highest court in Germany said that even digital software is not just a licence. So you are also allowed to sell those.
I could go either way on the banning you from digital games. As for banning the console itself? Makes total sense to me. They don't want you to be able to make another account and play online again. They want people who break their ToS in major ways gone forever. It makes sense to me. If this was a console that required online, like the way the XBOX ONE would've worked, I could get behind that complaint. Since the console still works for your disk based and already downloaded digital games, I have zero issue with them doing this.

I sent Sony a link with a thread teaching hackers how to use craigslist to get peoples mac address and how to use that mac address to spoof their own and play online without them getting banned. But nothing happened
Lost a lot of PSN games, DLC and most importantly lots of PSN friends.

See console bans don't surprise me since you can just shift crap to another console with your account. It's shitty to be out the money (especially for a forum post), obviously, but you don't lose your digital purchases, your XBL time, or money on your account so it's better than an account ban. I don't think I've ever heard of them hitting the console and every account on the console at once before.
