I pirated 360 games and MS banned me, what the hell?

Yep, the best.
"Hi my Son's Xbox was banned and I'd like to know why. He never pirated or stole any games. Can you help me please?"

"Hello, your Son was banned for exposing his penis on cam in a game of UNO, thanks".

It's pure gold on that forum.
lmao, love the thanks at the end.

The only person I've heard to get banned from the Oman thing is OP, yet a lot of people in this thread are acting like they're banning everyone. From the sound of it he got banned for copying content on to others Xbox's,

Also I was under the impression that when you got consoled banned, it just meant that you could no longer go online with that console, I don't think it completely bricks it like some have suggested, but I could be wrong.

So weird, in the year 9999 we're going to have 31 months!

This is somewhat of a pointless thread.

This guy got banned, we don't know why, there are no details, just ASSUMPTIONS and yet a great deal of you are getting riled up and taking sides, and in some cases pushing your agendas(PS4 vs Xbox) (Digital vs Physical).

Should be locked until OP gets details about why he was banned, then you can all decide whether or not it was justified or not.

BUT BUT BUT M$

LOLXBONE

Why don't we wait and see if anyone else gets banned that did the Oman exploit. For all any of us knows, UP could be lying his ass off.

Oh and read the fucking TOSes you plan to sign, friends. It ain't hard.

People need to stop saying that this was Oman. Nobody else is reporting being banned, I haven't been banned yet and outside of the Oman and Bolivia thing my xbox just sits there until I'm in the mood for more Dragons Dogma.

And I downloaded every game in that exploit
what can I say, I'm a greedy asshole

MS most likely banned you for gamesharing as your post in the Oman thread implies.

He bought a lot of Games on XBL, so I guess the digital Games, since he wont have all of them on the HDD, he cant download anymore and is "locked out" of them, because he is banned.

I started perusing those forums. This seems to be a common one:
- Altering the appearance of your avatar beyond legitimate parameters

First of all, I didn't even know you could make a custom avatar. Second of all, a permanent ban seems like a pretty severe penalty for something like this.

I believe that kind of alteration had to be done by actually hacking into the avatar data and altering those values. I think a zero tolerance for hacking, be it in a game or on the console, is not a terrible policy at all.

Ok, now I'm worried too...
Not that I did the Oman settings, mas for ppl who lives in LA it's pretty normal to use accounts from other countries... I have changed my Wii U country multiple times =(

It was their own mistake and Sony has done mistakes like this before too and they honor it and dont ban people for it.

I never understand this defence, its like saying its OK to steal games from a store because they left the door unlocked, and then saying "well another store didn't press charges, so why should tis store?". If I leave my house unlocked, yes its my mistake - but it still isn't OK for people to walk in and take what they want.

If you break the rules, then there is always the chance you will get punished - its really that simple, and its the very reason on all of my accounts that contain items that cost money - I don't break the rules.

Is it shitty the person (or people) got banned, sure it is - but if you take the the chance and break the rules, then you have to accept you may get something shitty in return.

Gotcha. That makes more sense then.

This is false equivalence. If a store makes a printing error in a sunday ad, giving away free games, and people take advantage of it, those people are generally not banned from the store. They could be banned, sure, but most stores will eat the loss because they recognize that it was their mistake. Moreover, the store doesn't go into your home and take every item you've ever purchased from them after the fact.

This is not stealing. Apparently, some people in this thread don't know the difference, though.

And how can they ban my console? That's my property, not theirs.

They're banning its access to their network and digital games on their network.
I assume you could disconnect the console from the internet and play disc-based games just fine?

People have some surprises coming (such as this) in terms of what they actually "own" and what they're "buying."

Lots of sony shills too, in this forum...better start checking dem e-mails.

well if you think there is a lot of shills on the forum you have the option of leaving for greener pastures

btw

to the op,sorry i dont believe you, something shady about all your history, maybe im wrong but i got that vibe

but is true that they cant be so unilateral when banning accounts,at least they should put in contact with you to discuss the situation, you a are a client and they need to serve clients, not punish them

Is it still stealing when they put a fucking sign that says it is free?

after the person breaks in your house would you not acknowledge it was partly your fault? it isnt okay for the person to steal but it was still your fault too.

Stealing games by entering fraudulent account information to access a glitch gets you banned. Who would have thought?

I pray this isn't serious.

Most of them seem to be "You tried to cheat." or "You made your avatar look like something rude." The only funny thing I've seen so far is a lot of parents asking why their son, "xXEliteKilla420Xx", was banned.

The best part of the Xbox support forum is everyone puts "BANNED FOR NO REASON" in their thread title, even when they clearly know they pirated/hacked/otherwise deserved to be banned for some reason.

Illegal game sharing wasn't MS's mistake. If they were banning for downloading free games, there's a lot of people that would be crying right now.

"Well, I didn't think I'd be caught doing that!'

This.

Oh evil, evil Microsoft, banning people for no reason.

You can read a lot of "I did nothing wrong and got banned" tales here and here, some of those are hilarious.

This stuff's pretty good. I especially like this post where the guy asks for a straight answer and gets a straight answer.

Please I want a straightforward answer and not a dumb answer stating that I may have broken xbox policy.

This console was found accessing a stolen account, as well as purchasing content using that account.
The ban will stand as issued.

If the OP can get another account to access the forum he could request more detail on his ban. He may get the standard answers but you never know. I've got a feeling the OP knows how to create another account.

Kind if hoped there would be consequences for taking games like that. Sucks but you played with fire.

Xbox Live seemed to be all about gaming the system. People never had to pay for live if they could find the right promotions at the right time. Gaf helped them find such deals, it wasn't illegal to take advantage of those deals, just like this Oman thing seem to be. (I don't have live, my xbox 360 isn't hooked up to the internet because I didn't want to camp gaf for the deals).

Sorry for your loss OP. Seems like a horrible situation. Xbox seem like too much of a risk to invest in with console ban over such things as this and playing a game urley.

That's really bad Oman.
But really, that's one of the reason why digital only make me unconfortable. You lose a lot of money when and if the company decide they close your account.
