I pirated 360 games and MS banned me, what the hell?

Highly doubt the OP was banned for Oman, there was hundreds of people if not thousands who took advantage of that and were not banned. He's not letting on something else he did.

Happens in every banning thread, I don't know why people are so indignant about it.

Don't assume that implies he downloaded games illegally. Someone who downloads their games that way doesn't tend to have purchased 50+ games either. I'm assuming the free one's he's referring to are similar to the one's from the Oman deal or similar (like, I myself got a free Fable copy the other day via a GAF thread).

Anyway, will be interesting to see how this develops. Based on the last few posts, seems the Oman thing didn't result in bannings for most (which is how it should be), so it must be something else.
 
Microsoft has never banned anyone from abusing things like the oman thing, same with AC3 being free for China and all other free games gotten in the same manner. They also never banned people from abusing promotions to get free allards, not even from their own promotions.

I don't think we are getting the full story here. You said your friends used the oman account you created, on their consoles, did any of them do anything that would violate the ToS ? Something is fishy here, if Microsoft started banned for that reason, we would be seeing more bans.
 
Dude shared his account, that's why he was banned. The only thing it has to do with the Oman trick is he shared the stuff he got with his friends instead of them spending 5mins to set up their own accounts.

Yep. MS wouldn't just randomly up and ban both console and account, you know..."just cos"
 
No matter what OP did, it's a joke on Microsoft's part to permanently ban someone subscribed to their service. You should at least be given a suspension or a warning.

This is why I can't fuck with Live. Just knowing how strict/random Microsoft are in their policies, and how they've proven that they will swing the banhammer with no fucks given is enough for me to stay away... Paying customers have way too much to lose -- OP's investment is down the drain.

Has anyone on GAF been banned from PSN?

That is is what I do not get. Some people here act as if these companies do not have systems in place for stuff like this. It not like they are flipping coins. A console ban is when you do something seriously wrong.

This, this and THIS. There have been countless times where Sony and Microsoft have given away free games in other regions and people create accounts or shift accounts to that region to get them. Hell, hundreds of people of this forum did it for the Oman things too and we're not getting hundreds of threads/posts saying "OMGZ guyz M$ just banned my account!"

As with 99.9% of all people bitching online about unfair bans, there's almost ALWAYS a side to the story that isn't told by the OP and instead they go on forums bitching and raising hell and try to look like some kind of victim so people start busting out their pitchforks and torches. These companies aren't stupid. They have probably hundreds of people investigating this stuff every day and having you're console banned is like the death penalty. They wouldn't have done it if they seriously didn't have evidence of you doing something stupid.

That's not really fair though. Even though the OP has yet to clarify what they meant when they said that, there are other ways to play a game without buying it. You can play at a friends, play a demo, borrow the game, or rent the game.

not sure about gaf but a lot of people have been perma banned from psn.

The OP is not telling the full story, banning a console is for serious misconduct. They are not going to ban the guys account and console for something so small.

Agreed. There are account suspensions and then there are bans. You don't just up and get banned and multiple suspensions can and will, earn you a ban.

Just wondering if this is something cumulative, where they've noticed that you've been doing this a lot and finally decided to clamp down.

Did you play the games you downloaded from the Oman account on your main account (the one that got banned)?

You've mentioned all the games you legally own, but have you used your console for ANY piracy or behavior that violates the ToS? Because if so, then I'm sorry but your ban is 100% legitimate no matter how many legal games you own.

I hope they start cracking down and issuing bans for the infraction of exploiting loopholes. Any loopholes. I just can't see anything relating to it being okay for someone to do.
