WANT!

Is there any officers in the game that can invite me to the GAF LS (since I'm sure FC is full right now)? I already registered and got accepted on the guildwork site and everything.

IGN: Lockon Emiya

"What drops from Crystal Tower?"
"Go read a FF3 strategy guide."
Hm, that's not a very good response unless Crystal Tower is going to include Eureka items/bosses. There's not a lot that actually comes from Crystal Tower itself in FF3 outside of the crystal armor set.

Didn't seem like he was being particularly serious. (And I wasn't paying much attention, but the chat on Nico didn't seem to pick much up.)

I'm beginning to waste my time by sticking with the duty finder, but these encounters get more hilarious the more I queue up for it

unhh anyone else just get 90k and lost NA servers?

Yep. Relaunched and everything was fine.

Someone help me get unaddicted to crafting; I hated it at first now it's all I do. Hit 50 WVR today and in the process of getting all the level 15 cross class skills so I can HQ reliably. Selling HQ on the market is great income. My highest battle class is still stuck at 26, but I really don't care. Not sure which craft I want to take to 50 next though, preferably whatever would help the most with HQing difficult items. The level 50 carpenter skill looks pretty hot.

So this are all the skills I learn naturally as Dragoon or all that are available to me? http://xivdb.com/?skilltree/Dragoon

As Lancer I have more too chose from?:
http://xivdb.com/?skilltree/Lancer

Is there any reason to stay a "standard" class and not advance?

Yeah, that's pretty much the gist of it. Lancer can take skills from any class but Dragoon can still take skills from both Marauder and Pugilist. If you hover over the Marauder and Pugilist abilities on that link you posted then you'll notice they list both LNC and DRG on them.

Edit: Also as Alucrid said, there's no real reason to stay on your class when you unlock the job. In some rare cases you can get some extra utility from the cross class skills when solo but in group play you'll definitely want to be on your job.

Yes. Housing please! I was obsessed with my house (and player city) in vanilla Star Wars Galaxies and nothing has ever filled the void since.

So there would be a reason to stay Lancer, if you want to dabble into some kind of bastard char that can utilize everything. :p Tho, that sounds incredible grindy:

"You can only use abilities which you have learned on that class. In other words, if I want to use the Conjurer Protect spell on my Gladiator, I need to have leveled a Conjurer to 8th level. "

After looking some footage, I think I'll stick with the Lancer / Dragoon. The summoner looks incredible dot-heavy, and I hate dots. I want a Destruction Warlock, but not a mere mage. Gonna read and watch up some more.

Will there be a beta wipe? (Edit: googled. beta already over lol) Is there a particular eu server gaf plays on? How long does it take to level up a secondary class? Is it the same EXP gain?

Awww. I'm almost ready for Titan. I'll help then!
Then again, the FC is doing it next weekend right? So at least there's that. I just need to get more darklight gear to get my HP up first.

I love how such a hard encounter such as Titan HM is just a 8-man pick up group to most people.

Seriously I love it. Glad to see an MMO that's about smaller group encounters instead of 24+ person raids.

A fair number of people will drop instantly if there are dps/heals with <3k health, or if there's two warriors

We're about a month into retail, a month and a half counting open beta, so no wipe is coming (though the earliest PS4 testing is happening on sandboxed servers that will be wiped.)

Ragnarok is apparently the server for EU GAF, but EU and NA are in the same server farm so one of the "NA" servers isn't any worse for ping. Servers tend to be fairly populated at all times of day; the regional "splits" are recommendations added recently so there's a large preexisting population from every region on every server.

Secondary classes depend heavily on the class, since you're typically going for key abilities. The one you'll need at 15 to unlock your job/spec is one or two evenings; others range from an hour or so counting travel (just grabbing some self-healing) to a decently dedicated weekend or two (36 and unlocking all skills).
All exp gained on a battle class that isn't your highest gets a 50% bonus, and there are currently three sets of questing hubs for the 1-30 range.

Well... you should've done it sooner. You don't have to buy the game again, but the free time for 1.0 users ran out just recently.

Well, I wasn't wanting to try XIV as long as XI was still going strong, but it's pretty much dead now and I was trying to wait a while for all the server problems to get sorted out. What do I have to do to get the client?

Thanks again. The time investment sounds manageable then.

I'd play on PC, since I can't see myself playing a mmo on a console tbh. I just read that PS3 and PC play together, which seems kinda unfair for PS3 players imo.

Wait, where are the servers located? That sounds TERRIBLE to have a universal server farm. What are your average pings and your location? I'm living in central europe.

Lastly, where to get the game? DD via the website or are there better sources available? Can you pay the monthly fee via PP?

the stat bonuses you're granted with your job (dragoon) pretty much negate any use other cross class skills would have

Was hoping to get my relic since last week. Guess I'll continue to run ak for more darklight gear, I suppose.

Some people lose their shit if you're wearing gear from AK(which is somewhat worse than darklight), which should still be doable anyway

So GAF, think I'm ready to mis it up a bit. So which is more fun, Disciples of Land or of Hand?

And within those two categories any recommendations/thoughts on the classes available.

Thanks!

The controller interface is amazingly good as controller interfaces go, and the pace is relatively deliberate (2.5 second GCD). This makes pad viable, or at least similar to "standard" kb/m; if you've played FF12 it's like that but with 16 quick macros available through trigger+face button.

It'll probably be pretty bad for PVP though, or at least easily breakable by formation movement.

The server farms are currently located in Montreal (recommended for NA/EU) and Tokyo (recommended for JP). Montreal's the closest major city to me, so I can't really comment on overall lag, but the pacing of the game is such that the JP servers are playable for me.

I bought a physical copy and pay via credit, so I'm not sure about the digital options. I know there are time cards available in Europe.

Da fuq, cross ocean connection? >____> 2.5 GCD is huge tho. For PvP that might be unplayable tho. Is there any info about EU servers going up at some point? Any eta on pvp?

DD via the official side costs 39$/€ so I guess I'll go with a physical copy, which only costs 25€ via amazon. You get a free month right?

How much HP should I have for this fight? It's all I have left to do for the relic, and I have ~3200 with caster food. I will grind more D if I need to but I'm still trying to save up the 900 for the item I need to buy for it too and AK is starting to get boring.

Most of my AF has been replaced by the AK gear and I have a Garuda weapon but little Darklight and no AF+1 yet. I know I'll probably be wiping the group a few times just getting the hang of the fight (only so much I can learn from watching youtube) but Garuda doesn't seem really hard to me so i was kinda wondering if this was another "LFG for CM must have relic weapons" type thing

I remember trying to play TERA with a gamepad and while it worked fine for combat it made everything else (inventory etc) a complete nightmare.

Also, I live fairly close to montreal, which is where Mechwarrior Online's servers were as far as I know. I had around a 12-18 ping in that game and it was a pretty interesting experience. Normally I'm stuck with awful pings due to my location.

Anyways I'm trying make a character on Ultros right now...internet says it might open up late at night? I can do that.

The level 45 AF quest is so pathetic. They couldn't even toss level 50 enemy at you... really now?

I don't even understand why this game has multi-class system the way it does. Everything you do to advance just pushes you further away from ever using it. I've been rolling MRD when solo and WAR for parties. Now I have armor pieces that I imagine are going to be much better then anything in dungeons until at least level 50. Problem is that they are WAR only.

no. you get better pieces pretty quickly. warr is better because its moves help you retain enmity and also gives you an important stat bonus. missing out on a few cross class skills is hardly worth it.
