It would be pretty dumb if you had to level up DRG and LNC separately, or other jobs for that matter.

Well, I came from FFXI and there you had to start from Lv1 with your advanced jobs. Obviously the advanced jobs were not as close to the starting jobs as they are in XIV but I honestly didn't know how they implemented it and I'm glad they went with the current system. :)

I just compared the chest piece I have to that of Darklight healing and it's +20 vitality, Yep, I need that.

By upgrading your looking at maybe 20-25mind, some more vit, and some misc other rather small differences. So, I suppose yes, you could do Titan HM if you were on your game and didn't need the vitality. The amount of damage however definitely makes it so 3k+ is what groups are looking for.

In practical gaming experience, being below 3000 (really below 3.1 or 3.2) means most groups simply won't take you.

I know the GAF guild is full but is there a way to get my name put on a list or something? I finally got into Ultros and am leveling as we speak. I see so many "Gaf" members around too :D

Zavvi has the physical CE in stock for PS3 and PC:

PC
PS3

They ship worldwide and comes out to about $80 for PC and $96 for PS3. They're both OOS pretty much everywhere here in the US and they're also being listed for around $150+ from third party sellers.

Square Enix are a bunch of fascists. This is going on the fourth day that my account has been suspended, even though their official policy page says that the maximum length a suspension can last is 72 hours, which means they're violating their own policy. To top it off, I have absolutely no idea when or even if they're gonna lift the suspension, and they haven't bothered to respond to any of the emails I've sent them. Best of all, even though I'm suspended and can't play, my remaining free days are still being used up. so I'm basically up the creek without a paddle.

Fuck Square.

That's rough.

Why did your account get suspended in the first place?

Maybe because it's Sunday? I don't know Square's policy on working on the weekends.

personally like this armor design.

xivpvp01uxezr.jpg

What class is that?

How much HP should I have for this fight? It's all I have left to do for the relic, and I have ~3200 with caster food. I will grind more D if I need to but I'm still trying to save up the 900 for the item I need to buy for it too and AK is starting to get boring.

Most of my AF has been replaced by the AK gear and I have a Garuda weapon but little Darklight and no AF+1 yet. I know I'll probably be wiping the group a few times just getting the hang of the fight (only so much I can learn from watching youtube) but Garuda doesn't seem really hard to me so i was kinda wondering if this was another "LFG for CM must have relic weapons" type thing
I've been told that everyone needs at least 3.3k HP.

Even as healer? I'm running around at lvl 45 with about 1800 (I think?), can't imagine netting another 1500 with just 5 levels and equipment.
Well I'm pretty close. Plus I imagine the VIT buff you get from being grouped with a tank pushes it a fair bit too.

wow nice, I thought the server problems had been fixed a while back?
Just bought the game today since they finally are selling digital copies again and i cant even make a char on a european server even though on their listings it says i should be able to?
What's up with that?

Guys, what should I be looking forward for Garuda fight gear-wise as a DRG?

I have Ifrit wep, 3 pieces of DL jewelry and 2 gear pieces from AK. Should I wait to having atleast full AK gear?

*sigh*

And just yesterday I defended her intrusion into FF14 as an avoidable FATE too. Come on! It's not like Shantotto gets cutscenes!

The problem I have with leveling other classes is that I simply do not have the Armory space to level all these different classes. If you level DoM as WHM then you get new gear every few levels from quest and dungeons. Am I supposed to Convert that gear that I could have used on my THM/BLM or SCH/SMN and have to replace that exact gear again as I level those classes. Seems dumb. Same with DoH or DoL Classes. You get new gear that is mandatory to not be a derp in those classes every few levels and can be used across the various classes, getting rid of the gear seems dumb to only have to get it again or craft it again. The only slot you know you will never need again is the Main/offhand weapons. You simply do not have the inventory space to level everything unless you level up all your DoM, DoW, DoH, DoL classes to a certain level and then get rid of the gear below that level. They really need separate armory for each of the different disciplines.
Disclaimer: Legacy player on legacy server

I'm just dumping the low end (pre-40) gear until I get back to the class in question. It's cheap enough to just rebuy later. You also have shit tons of retainer space to store the gear.

So now that the game has been out for about a month and the release day hype is out of the way, what are you opinions of this game? I'm pretty keen on getting into an MMO but haven't really been grabbed by one after dumping hundreds and hundreds of hours into World of Warcraft back when I was in high school. Guild Wars 2 was a pretty big disappointment for me and I've been wary of trying MMOs since. How is the end game? Do many people seem to be sticking around past their free 30 days and do you guys plan on sticking around for awhile? Lastly, how would you guys compare it to Blizzard's elephant in the room in general? Thanks!

Should be pointed out that this is the EU version, for those in Na it means you would have to register a EU account, not an NA one. That means all expansions would have to be EU and you would have to pay EU prices be it Euros or pounds or whatever. They won't change it to a NA version either if you call in to tell them you didn't know.

Definitely feels rough and unfinished in some areas and I don't really think endgame is super exciting yet since after the story's done it's pretty linear and your options for gearing are somewhat limited, but the ride up there is great and I know there's a fair amount of content coming that's aimed at level 50s. Classes feel very different from each other with simple core mechanics that are expanded upon very well as your levels go up, locations and music are pleasing eye/ear candy, and if you feel like taking your time you'll probably enjoy it more than rushing to max.

I still play and like WoW and while it's not really fair to compare WoW's endgame to FFXIV's they simply have far more to do thanks in large part to being out longer. 0n the flip side in true FF fashion I feel much "closer" to my character and feel like he has more of a personality and real role in the story due to design philosophies or whatever you want to call it.

That's kind of apples and oranges. In XI you were unlocking brand new jobs. They weren't upgrades to existing jobs. XIV plays out more like FF1 as opposed to XI which was more like V.

Thanks for the heads up, still deciding if I want to jump in on this.

Consider me late to the party, but I just discovered you can have your Chocobo fight with you.

Given that I am level 32 at the moment, is it really worth it to train up a Chocobo?

I didn't bother with it. It goes really slow after 3 ranks and you have to dismiss it every time if you want to mount up.

The quest to unlock fighting chocobos is a level 30 quest, for one thing, so you aren't too late.

On the other hand,

1. Chocobos suck at Tanking or Healing.
2. Chocobos take 25% of your experience
3. Chocobos can't be used while queuing for Duty Finder nor in any instance battles of any kind.
4. Chocobos have to be un-summoned before you can use any mount, and then re-summoned after dismounting (takes one gyshal green per summon).
5. They gain ranks extremely slowly.

They start to do a nice little chunk of damage as you get towards 40 and beyond, especially if you're a tank or something else low DPS.

Healer chocobo seems like it is hot street trash though. Has anyone leveled this to the point that it gets the legit heal? Chocoregen is worthless.

Yikes. In that case, I think I'll hold off on training one for awhile. The main reason I would even need one is for tanking in solo instance battles when considering I'm rather squishy and said battles love throwing waves of enemies at you. But with that out of the window, I don't think it's worth the added effort ATM when I could be doing something else. Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, the chocobo battle system needs to be revamped. They XP way too slow and make it annoying for you to do other stuff. If I could queue for something while leveling and hop on one of my many other mounts with my GC choco out that'd be great but as they are now it's just not worth the hassle.

2. Monster XP isn't that important when fighting low level or same level opponents. They're really helpful when fighting high level opponents. Sometimes I also leave him behind and let him finish off enemies.
3. You can however use them in leves and FATEs.

True, they need faster XP gain and the option to mount them (which should suspend the timer) so you can move around faster. On that topic: they also need to be faster in general.
