I'm about to start raising weaver in earnest, and I remembered that someone linked to something that gave good info about the cross-class abilities that help with crafting, but I can't seem to find it. Does anybody have that, or want to give me a quick rundown of what I should learn from other crafting classes before I dive in completely?

Possibly this:

http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/1mh6um/crafting_guidetheorycrafting_dont_let_crafters/

As a 50 weaver myself I can tell you that Hasty Touch (Culinarian) combined with Steady Hand, Tricks of the Trade (Alchemy), Waste Not (Leatherworking) and Rumination (Carpenter) are all very helpful in being able to consistently HQ 1* greens+. I find myself using them in that order of importance. The only cross class level 15 skills I don't have yet are Blacksmith/Armorer so I can't speak to those.

Hasty Touch combined with Steady Hand I gives you a 70% chance to improve quality at no CP cost, useful for ramping control way up after starting off with Inner Quiet. Tricks of Trade gives you 20 CP on every "Good" condition by turning it to Normal condition, no durability or CP cost on that. Waste Not halves durability cost for 4 turns and has gotten me out of some tight situations. Rumination will let you get a couple more touches in at the end because you know you can get enough CP back to either restore enough durability to finish off the progress or, like I find myself doing most often, getting Waste Not in at the end to finish up on progress.

Some people use Manipulation more but I haven't found myself using it much; on 40 durability mats I just do three Great Strides + Advanced Touch then finish up and that gives me a good enough chance (~70%+ on wool) of a HQ product. I haven't focused on 100%ing the quality on 40 durability items yet since it's rarely worth the extra time of adding another dozen steps to it, and the final product will be HQ regardless.

Good luck!

Stone Vigil is a little annoying cause of the mobs but its alright.
The last boss of the dungeon though... Its a lil tough cause its hard to see the danger area. I was able to tank the boss with just a healer while the DPSs were down.

Thanks, hopefully it won't be too bad. I just wish I had a move like Aetherflow or something to replinish MP, Hi-Ethers just don't cut it.

I know that when youre fighting one of the bosses, you gotta use the canons. The other boss requires you get behind it or something.

Once you get how it works, it becomes easy to do runs

Titan HM group. My router reset again (daily 3am), completely forgot about what time it is. Can't seem to reconnect to mumble, so I think i'm just gonna go to bed. It is 3am here after all.

Really sorry and hope we can do it again soon!

Good luck and good hunting!

Culinarian to 37 for SH2 + Hasty Touch = HQ machine.
SH2 only takes 25 cp compared to SH 22 for a +10% gain to success.

My CUL is only 21, but I will be taking it to 37 soon. That skill is to good to pass up.

Oh and Brygots I hear is amazing for anyone that want to make gettinh HQ easier (need 50 CRP though).

I almost have every DoL/DoH 30+ and I have used every skill except ARM skills.

Inegnuity I and II are good skills to have for synths above your level (Read through this thread as it explains a lot of things and is ongoing. I read it daily since I'm a craftaholic

Yeah, I would really like to get Steady Hand II to snuff out the occasional fail streaks with Hasty Touch, but I hated getting Culinarian to even 15, lol. It takes way too many ingredients for stuff.

My wife is trying to farm Fates in N. Thanalan right now and when she gets to the fate she can't see one single enemy. On the PS3 here, is there any setting to play with to fix this? So frustrating.

Edit: nevermind, turned off names and lifebars and it helped a lot.

Okay, this is going to sound crazy.

I'm going to reset my points on my Warrior and I'm going to put all 30 points into Mind. I think I just broke the code guys. I did it. It's not going to work of course.

Godspeed. Maybe now people will claim war is op.

I'm on Ultros and i have to do the Hydra fight..
How much longer till Im done with the stinkin Relic Weapon quest?

How difficult is the Hydra battle? Any tips?

I'm on the Hydra fight also. Did the fight with a group a couple days ago, but used a terrible strategy and ended up wiping multiple times. I don't know why, but they insisted on spinning Hydra to avoid its Triumvirate move. However, spinning it makes it impossible for close-range DD to survive. From my experience:

Single tank strategy:
*Just tank Hydra straight up on the edge of the coliseum. Tank will have to eat the Triumvirates and avoid the breath attacks.
*DPS does DPS stuff. Main goal is to kill the Wyvern adds ASAP. If they don't, it'll give Hydra Bravery (DMG boost) and Triumvirates will now one shot the tank. May as well wipe if this happens.
*Hydra will (randomly?) target two members and shoot a ice and fire attack which both leave a DoT circle on the ground. You want to avoid standing in the middle of the coliseum because of the next part.
*Hydra will move to the center of the coliseum and do a full room AoE that hits for about 2500 dmg and gives you Hysteria (you lose control of your character for 10 seconds or so). The only way to avoid the AoE is to literally get inside of Hydra while it is preparing it, so that's why you don't want any of the ice and fire AoEs to be in the middle.

Rinse and repeat until dead. As long as people avoid the AoE iceballs and fireballs and kill the adds asap, it should be a pretty easy fight. I heard if you have two tanks you can split the damage of the Triumvirates.

After Hydra, you just have to defeat Hard Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan. Then buy a bottle of Radz-at-Han Quenching Oil and you're finished!

Man, getting somewhat closer to the end-game is starting to get a little exciting.

On the other hand, I swear I saw a shout for an AK run with people requiring Relic +1 and/or Allagan gear. And after reading around, there are so many different ways people believe the endgame should be tackled (to someone who doesn't know anything, this is all sounding really circular, like "run this dungeon to get gear to be able to run this dungeon"). Meh, I don't even want to look at or think about this stuff until I complete the story quests now.

Just beat the last boss of Qarn after only one wipe. That fight is sweet as hell. In fact, that whole dungeon was really awesome. Every new dungeon seems to get better and better and more complicated. Which is great since instancing is all I want from this game.

now to level bard...

queuing Aurum Vale any tips

Not much strat involved. First boss, make sure each of your members eat a Marbolo Fruit when you get two stacks of the unavoidable AoE it does. Second boss, just make sure you don't get hit by the 100-Ton Swing as it will probably one shot you. He'll wipe aggro so make sure to back off at that point and let the tank get back hate. Last boss is like the first one except it summons Marbolo eggs that you need to kill before they turn into the baby marbolos. Just get rid of them ASAP. As mentioned above, not too difficult of a dungeon.

It's piss easy. Just enjoy it.

Okay thanks also I want to know is there a place that sells high level jewelry. Around the high forty range

Toto-Rak is the worst thing ever. It's so dull long and boring. It's everything wrong in this game, dungeon wise. why would you even bother designing such crap?
I hope I'll never go there again >(

I've done up to Aurum Vale (level 47) and I agree that Toto-Rak is the worst dungeon I've encountered yet. The worst is when you wipe on the final boss, because even with the shortcut you have to walk way too far to reach the end.

I'm rolling just fine with the 360 pad...and i'm still scared to use my FFXIV 1.0 pad (the white one with the logo) since that seemed to randomly blue screen...but is that logitech controller yoshi was using that much better?

EDIT: Wow, had no idea they were trying to fit every boss from FF 3 in the tower.

Well except Odin and Leviathan i'm sure.

Started back playing this yesterday and had the worst experience yet. My Bard is at level 36 now and I went through the Duty Finder to play through Temple of Qarn (?). This was my first time playing through but I'd like to think I'm a decent player. But, the Tank was so, so awful. I've read other posts and comments about some Tanks not doing so well and thought, "that'll never happen to me", boy was I wrong. It's funny just due to how many parties I've been in and had some really great and helpful tanks, but not this time. All Tanks are not created equal lol.

This guy could not hold aggro to save his life, literally. On the first boss we wiped because the healer would get aggro and the tank seemingly took forever to attempt to get it back. We got to the second boss where it casts Doom and you have to get on the lighted pillars. Once again the tank and this time the healer could not get there in time and wiped twice, leaving me and the Lancer to get manhandled lol. On the third attempt, the tank kept leaving the main boss to fight the adds and losing aggro on the boss. With 19 minutes left, I withdrew from the battle and couldn't believe how terrible that experience was. I'll try again tomorrow and maybe hit up some folks in my FC. Oh well, long drawn out post is now over lol.

So will I have to pug endgame dungeons until I'm experienced enough to run them with the FC?
Certainly not. You should be able to get an FC group together for most things, although sometimes people who would normally help are busy.

Yep, there are lots of us still working our way up too, so aside from experienced folks who help others, there are genuine newbies to group with too.

Just starting FF IV, what server is neogaf using?

The main mega-guild is on Ultros, but there are a few others as well. Check out the OP.

Yes, thanks. I am looking at the LS app for Ultros. Looks like there are a lot of people waiting lol.

Question, warrior or paladin for tanking? reading a few posts above looks like groups are preferring paladins? for what reason?

For the second (?) boss, if you are talking about the Teratotaur, it was probably the final sting from the bees that was killing your guys, not the doom. If that's the case it's your job to dps those bees and kill them faster. I made a similar mistake with that battle the first time around, I thought it was the doom killing people but it was the bees who use final sting if you don't get them down quick.
