Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

4Kids had a couple really amazing voice actor choices.

Most of the Pokemon S1 cast, Meta Knight and Dedede pretty much defined the characters for me.

Spanish swordsman Meta Knight is my headcanon.

Brawl's Meta Knight English voice actor >>>>>>>>>> the show's.

Perfectly fits Meta Knight.

Interesting. So:

Reveal: May 2006
Dojo starts: May 2007
Release: January 2008 in Japan (original intended for December 2007)

So we had a good 8 months of daily Dojo updates leading to launch. If they really do stick with the 2014 release date (I personally think the game will be pushed to early 2015, but considering how bad the Wii U is doing, maybe they'll work some overtime and really push for late 2014), I could see daily updates starting in... March or April 2014? MAKE IT HAPPEN SAKURAI

There's no way this drops before November 2014, right? First half of next year is Mario Kart's turf, I'm thinking Smash is their holiday juggernaut.

As for Meta Knight balancing, I think it would suck if they change his mobility too much, as that's what made him fun. I'm looking at you Brawl Fox, you boring fuck.

I'm thinking:

-make him even lighter
-Take away a jump or two, his recovery is way too fucking godlike
-nerf the knock back on his up b that shit is stupid
-lower knock back and damage on his down smash
-make his tornado not stupid

at least. I feel like that brings him down from broken tier to simply high tier. maybe an overall damage nerf would be sufficient, dude's ENTIRE moveset is useful.
I will add
-Nerf his priority
-Up B needs more nerfs than that, make it Punishable and give it less I-frames. The guy has a COMPLETELY SAFE SHORYUKEN!
- lower the speed of his attacks his D-smash comes out in 2-frames and was safe on block or even a frame trap into itself! His Up air was also really fast and absurdly good for DI

He doesn't need all these nerfs as that would make him terrible but just some ideas

Didn't Brawl get delayed mostly due to SSE and the last minute inclusion of Sonic? Along with factoring in how SSB4 will have been in development longer than Brawl would've been when it was still supposed to come out in '07, I'd be surprised if rushed or not SSB4 misses 2014. If it looks like they can't reach a simultaneous release then I think they'll delay the 3DS version, since the Wii U obviously needs this game a lot more.

also even ignoring how unbalanced he was Meta Knight was dull as all fuck to play when any strategy with him just boils down to mashing the B button

I agree with your points except the bolded. His speed was what made him fun. I think you can retain his speed without making him broken. Just gotta nerf everything else ^_^

I think the fact that they're working on two games simultaneously will be the reason it gets delayed, if any. Surely they won't waste their time on an extravagant single player adventure mode again.

I would nerf his speed too, actually. Powerful or not, his moves are far, far too safe for the range they have. He can keep his power (except for Shuttle Loop, which needs a complete overhaul to be balanced, and maybe d-air) as long as he's a slower character. A 2-frame u-air that recovers pretty much instantly should never exist.

Oh, and making his sword moves have transcendent priority is also extremely dumb. That's something that definitely needs to change. Why should Meta Knight be the only character with this kind of property on his moves?

Hello people! This is my first Gaf post. I'd like to share with you something I casually came up with in the last few days.

Speaking of new characters in Smash 4, I think after Wii Fit Trainer and Villager each of the main Nintendo series has an iconic rep in the roster. But... Mario Kart is obviously not included, since it has no original characters. Still, it's one of the most successful Nintendo series.

So I thought, what about adding the Kart itself? Not as an actual character of course, but as a special item which, when any character rides it, gives it new stats and an entirely new Mario Kart-based movepool. You'd get a speed and powerful "character", maybe with some tweaks based on who rides it, like its weight; maybe you had to build it, like with the Dragoon in Brawl (as a reference to MK7, where you build your vehicles); maybe if you use the Final Smash while on the kart, it would be the blue shell...
I think this would be the perfect way to acknowledge Mario Kart in an unique way, giving the series the credit it deserves.

Can't wait to see Ridley riding a kart...

Mario Kart already has an item to represent it (3 if you want to count the Green/Red Shells), and that is the Lightning Bolt.

That said, a Kart item sounds fun.

Oh he can be fast but just not THAT fast, or at least not on such a good attack. Half the cast would kill for even a decent kill move let alone one like that! His D-smash comes out faster or as fast as all neutral A moves if I remember right. Ike's jabs are fast but they come out at frame-3, marths side B at 4.

Welcome! I just got access and started posting recently as well. I got a nice warm welcome and wanted to pass on the sentiment!

I really like the idea of it being an item that you get control of for a limited amount of time (longer than the hammer but same idea) i'm not sure they would invest the time in it to make it have unique attributes for individual characters but it would be really fun (control similar to wario's bike but without being able the be knocked off)

welcome new person to about of a year of your life wasted on hype and disappointment.

You know, with all these veteran character moveset tweaks happening, maybe we will finally see Ganondorf in a Smash game.

Been playing Brawl a lot recently (had to rebuy the game for my Japanese WiiU), and two things popped into my mind:

1) I'm really not a fan of some of the character art that goes for a quasi-realistic style but just ends up feeling strange. Lucario comes to mind as a prime example.

2) Is there still demand for Saki Amamiya as a playable character? I still haven't played the Sin & Punishment series, so I don't have any strong affinity for him, but I haven't seen much talk about him on GAF.

Saki is a character that I want to see, but I have absolutely no clue how they'd make a moveset out of him. He's pretty good as an assist trophy in Brawl.

If Toon Link doesn't come today, he will be a secret character or was complete scratch away. I don't believe, they will show him next week and a Pokemon character a week later,

Yeah, WWHD gets its Japanese release today (sadly can't afford it at the moment...), so today seems like the prime chance to show TL in all of his SSB4 glory--assuming he's coming back, anyway. :P

EDIT: Wow, TL revealed just as I posted! lol
