It was the first thing i noticed. He's not bending at the hips. it's like his center pivot is based at his navel instead of his belt buckle.

So glad to see Toon Link. Now who of you said Toon Link won't be playable because of the Spirit Tracks stage? Show yourself! I talked about this "issue" on Miiverse a lot and people insist, it wouldn't look right with a playable Toon Link and one in the back ground, so it's not happening. I say there is a precedent with Donkey Kong, a bunch of Game and Watch's in the back grounds of flat zone and subspace, etc. Of course that doesn't count. People keep trying to put some sort of logic where there is none. So glad to throw this in their faces.

Since Toon Link brings back the idea of revealing characters on related release dates, I'm kind of worried Wonder Red won't happen since his game has come and gone.
There are a few notable exceptions (the Fire Emblem and Pokemon series consistently break this pattern), but typically a game has to be released before Smash starts development for it to see a playable character represented in game.
It has been done.

I wonder why Sakurai is revealing characters that are usually unlockable... makes me worry about if any characters would be unlockable at all in this one :/

It's be awesome if everyone returned.
So Dr Mario, Pichu, Mewtwo and Roy returned too, but I think Pichu and Dr Mario have no chance at all, and Roy is iffy. I think Mewtwo has a very good chance though.

I'm not gonna lie. I would be actually happy if Pichu returns and he didn't have the stupid gimmick where he hurts himself. He was absolutely fun to play outside of that.

I was thinking this too at first. But after a while I'd like to think that this would be the type of character that Sakurai would rather leave as a secret until the game comes out (if he was indeed in the game)

But...Pichu never left. He became brawl's pikachu.

I'd like more changes beyond dropping the self-damage gimmick.....but strangely I find myself wanting the clones back no matter how ridiculous they were.

Pokemon Trainer, Pikachu, Mewtwo, Jigglypuff, Pichu and Lucario being all in would mean Pokemon probably wouldn't get a new comer.
That's also a lot of Pokemon, but a decent spread between the different games
I wish they'd stick to "Once in Smash, always in Smash" because clones were fun as little side characters and many are fan favorites (Falco and Ganondorf for example)

Every non-retro franchise with a playable character in Smash Bros. had at least two entries before getting a representative. There's only one Wonderful 101 game, and it completely bombed at that. Nothing sets it apart from the dozens of other one-off Nintendo games. It'll be completely forgotten by the time SSB4 is released.
Sakurai has said that he likes to also bring characters that would bring something new to the game. Moveset-wise W101 could that very easily.

So could a large amount of more popular and recognizable characters.
I am not arguing popularity, obviously Smash takes that into account, but I think Sakurai also chooses based on potential moveset. A W101 character could pretty much be a Megaman-type of character if they mix all the game's moves into a single character.
I really don't see how it would be all that unlikely.
I wonder too. Now I am completely thrown off. There's too many possibilities at what Sakurai is trying to do now.

I really hope they change up Toon Link drastically to a true incarnation of WW.

I won't lie, i'd absolutely love that. Hah.
It's really hard to see where he's going with all of this. It feels like brawl, but it also feels new. He's revealing secret characters, clones, etc. I don't know what to make of all of this. While having everything unlocked would be great, I'll also miss the challenger approaching, which is a staple of the franchise. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO THINK ANYMORE.

Dunno, with Brawl it was pretty obvious he kept hidden characters a secret until launch. But this time it's like he threw a curveball.

Most likely, no. My best guess is Sakurai is showing off veterans, regardless of their status in the game, in similar fashion to Solid Snake and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Great reveal there. I'm not the biggest supporter of Toon Link, but every veteran saved is a good thing and Toon Link was the most likely Nintendo character to get cut.

Gen 2 and 3 did when DP came out. Gen 3 Pokemon probably weren't even glanced at for Brawl and the only reason Blaziken now has a sliver of a chance is because of X/Y.
Honestly, gen 5 doesn't really have a Jigglypuff, Charizard or Lucario type Pokemon. Nothing that works well as a fighter and has the popularity to be worth adding.
Pichu was in Melee, and Plusle & Minun were planned for Brawl. (And because someone's probably going to bring it up, "pra_mai" doesn't mean "random.")
