I'm more surprised that there are whms out there not taking advantage of stoneskin. I tend to use it a bit to help mitigate damage, both on tanks and dps. It doesn't offer as much help on PLD, but I can usually pop one pretty easy in the middle of a fight with Swiftcast -> Stoneskin to avoid some burst damage and pair it with Regen instead of blasting cures to get them back to full.

They sit at half to 2/3 health and come back up while taking next to no dmg. Even with the mp cost, I haven't really had any issues with running out, even during some longer battles or bosses.

Helps on PLD as well when you take into account mitigation. Might only defend some 500+HP, but under mitigation it goes a longer way. Anyway, stoneskin = great for pretty much anyone. Who can argue against no damage?

i don't think you realize what thousands of snows and lightnings running around will do to my psyche

Personally I'm more looking forward to the PvP armors that people will be wearing at that same patch (assuming lightning hits on 2.1 w/ PvP).

PLD armor looks amazing.

People who hate life...
literally

I keep hearing more and more about how important HP is at endgame and might respec my WAR to go full VIT instead of a 20STR/10VIT split....

I need to remind myself to stop jumping off cliffs. I fell right into the story mode sequence with 1 HP and couldn't do much with second wind and a hi potion. lol

Whoever here of the GAF guild is Justice Shieldheart, thank you for reviving me once again.

0-49 it doesn't really matter what you spec, once 50 and at endgame quests... you start noticing monsters hit like trucks. BC hits like a dozen trucks... all coming for you.

Cape Westwind done, onto CM...

Well, at least CM gets done fast, I suppose.

Get a GAF group. Lot of people in the FC doing speed runs but unlike Praetorium the cutscenes are mostly short, and it won't be too hard for you to catch up to the group, and I imagine GAF-er's are more likely to be okay with you watching the cutscenes.

That being said, for the love of god get at least a partial GAF group for Praetorium afterwards. So you don't get locked out of a couple boss fights like I did because I was watching the cutscenes :(

Not at a long wait? Dunno about you, but people doing endgame possible run this instance a few times a day, daily. If you have to wait each time it simply gets annoying. Guy didn't have to be an asshole but uh shit happens. Also just personally, I don't feel important enough to let 7 people wait (and waste their time) for 7 minutes for things that I can just watch in my INN room. SEs decision to make a story dungeon the only way of efficient farming tombstones has lead to this. That there will be an increased rate of idiots there is just a natural cause, nobody needed rocket science to predict this. I let people watch their cutscenes if they want to, but I am certainly not happy about this. When I did CM in the story, we were running out of time and people still kept on watching cutscenes (which meant we barely were able to finish the dungeon, people rather wanted to watch cutscenes and repeat 2h ...).

About the sounds, really do endgame, they can be really really helpful when used in the right way (for instance instant death attacks with a long cast time, tons of people that would have been killed got saved by those little helpful signals. Seen it often enough already.).

Having to wait until you're out of the instance and watch at the Inn, brings you out of the experience somewhat so that is why I look at it like this. If people want to, fine, but don't force them.
BUT, I do understand it if there is a shortage on time, in that case I would have happily complied. I agree that in those cases it is more fun and important, in a sense, that you can complete the instance and watch the cutscenes later.
The thing is, we finished the dungeon with 80minutes left on the clock. Waiting 1-2 min before starting the end-boss wouldn't have hurt it, and would've at least let me help in the fight, instead of locking me out.

And okay then about the sounds, but they should really find a way too limit the amount, like, not 15 sounds in one chat message and then still allowing a person to spam it 5 times in less than a second. (ie. That is what he did)
That leads to 30seconds of having annoying sounds thrown at you constantly.

/endrage

Before I try Praetorium, do most also speedrun this? I'm not on Ultros, so can't get a GAF-group going, but I suppose I'll also better look for people that want to give us a bit more time for the cutscenes?

I agree with this. The "Oh you can watch it at the inn" is such a fucking bullshit excuse. Having the scenes completely removed from the context of the dungeon simply does not have the same effect.

It's like someone telling me to try and speedrun FFIX my first time ever playing the game, and that "Oh you can just watch the scenes on youtube. Close enough." No. It's not. Fuck off and take a long walk off a short pier.

Not many since you need to be pretty damned geared to *speed* run it, but if you're unlucky you'll still run into assholes who do it like I did.

Sadly, I play on Leviathan.

Yep.

Yep. Plus, seeing the cutscenes while doing the dungeon, will put the other players in them too. At the Inn instead it's just you, and it does take out a certain cool aspect off it.

Whoever said 1.0 music sucked is out of their mind. I never heard Gridania 1.0 til now, it's great. Been a long time since I heard Limsa's, but it is positively phenominal. So glad I got the BEFORE METEOR OST.

Who said 1.0 music was bad?
I miss a lot of it. Even that LL guitar riff is alright to me.

Miss the ambient songs now...

I notice people are less talkative in this game in comparison to FFXI. I also notice people never say "thank you" when you help them, at least, on Ultros. I bring it up because FFXI servers were international servers essentially, but it'd even the Japanese players would auto translate "thank you" if you helped them out. Of course, not all the time, but it was a lot more than never.

Darn Speedy Gonzalez players.

People rarely say "thank you". Or anything at all. I always heal/regen people I see in trouble (about to die, running from mobs) and not one of them ever said anything. I didn't expect them to and I'm happy to do it but hey, it'd be nice.

On the other hand, I was doing a quest and someone came in and helped me kill the mob. Then she started the same quest right after and I stayed to help her by sleeping enemies and healing her. At the end she bowed and went on her way. Not much communication but we were clearly helping each other out.

As a PS3 player there are lots of times when I would love to say something, but that implies:

-Pressing Select to go to the chatbox.
-Presing X in the writing field, then Triangle to bring the keyboard which then covers most of my screen.
-Painstakingly type using the directional keys.
-Press Start to finish text input and X again to send the message.

So it's not like I don't want to, but the game doesn't make it any easy for console players.

I usually just type a quick "thx" and call it a day.

Tried to do a healer run through stone vigil with a friend who just got there... figured it was time to put the WHM to use again. Frist time I had PUGd in a while...

I'm not a great healer but the tank was dying outright in the first few seconds and the party was pulling hate like crazy. Wondered what the hell and I realized the tank was in level 20 gear including weaponry. Was like... oh this is what people are complaining about.

You should really get a keyboard if you intend to play long-term.

I've been hooked to GTAV lately but I want to start grinding for some DL armor. Also, NO ONE DOES HYDRA ON GAF UNLESS I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF ANOTHER DUTY. Ugh.

And I thought having a tank show up to story Garuda in level 35 white gear was bad...

So many elitist attitudes lately I have noticed in game. I joined a pug group last night for AK. They said they wanted geared DD so I joined.

I'm geared full darklight, relic, and some AF2. For a BRD my dmg is pretty damn high. So the next person joined. It was a DRG. Alright gear. Darklight, Relic. Standard fair.

As soon as we get in the DRG starts talking shit about the tank whom is not as well geared. Bugged the hell out of me.

It was obvious that they were new to running the dungeon and instead of trying to show them how to do it they just tore them down.

So I started being a dick also but to the drg. Telling them :before you start talking shit about other peoples gear and being well geared...make sure you don't have any green slotted gear" lol they got pissed and dropped lol after I put them to shame dmg wise cause I started posting parses and saying shit like yeah no green slotted gear does that for you lol.

I do not remember MMO's being this bad. I mean you always have your elitist players, but it seems like everyone thinks they are the shit and the best t hing ever just cause they got a little piece of gear which is pretty damn normal and just takes time no real skill to get.

Is it just me or are peoples attitudes getting worse?

On a side note PUGS are getting better it seems. Me and a MNK were able to kill Demon Wall before just as it started to cast it's 2nd repel. it was like 20% into case when we killed it lol.

Theres really no reason for you not to have a keyboard.

You used to be able to buy Ultimate Game Cards that turned into Crysta when applied to your account. You then just use the Crysta as your payment type. Ultimate Game Cards are sold at many retail locations and is sort of the same thing. Can you not do that anymore?

You can still do this. I went to gamestop last week and bought one to add crysta to my account. The only problem is having crysta left over...

Interesting that the dev's have clarified that Dark Devices is working as intened, as if there was really any confusion - http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/83406-Dark-Devices-Exploitation?p=1329015#post1329015

Seems like it's just people angry others were getting to endgame too fast.
I don't see why people are angry over it to be honest. Slowing down leveling isn't going to some make people magically better at the game or make you any better off.

This can lead to many problems down the line if it is allowed to continue for one having a massive playerbase of all capped individuals will lead to several issues with content development rates and quality.

IE: Every Legacy Server?

Well, I mean, it would have to be working as intended. They chose to spawn enemies endlessly until specific trigger mobs are killed. This is actually the case with many FATEs in the game, not just Dark Devices. For example, any FATE where you're supposed to turn items in to progress, you can just choose not to do so. People who run Aleport FATEs have wisened up to this and treat the goblin FATE as a mini-Dark Devices for that reason.

Edit: Hmm seems its not a dev but a community team member, still if there was a problem one imagines it would have been patched like AK

Lol are people seriously whining about Dark Devices being used to level? Oh noes! people will use a FATE to level up their characters! This will cause problems because we cna't have people being high level in the player base!

What a bunch of idiots.

approx. 6 months after the PS4 version.. so about a year from now.
That's quite a big change from what was annunced before the game release ( the two are being developed, they couldn't say which one would be released first, should take less than 1 year ). Quite a disapointment if true.

I picked up a wireless Microsoft keyboard that worked perfectly without issue. Just plug and play. It's absolutely worth it.

If groups are specifically asking for geared people to join, I don't think it's unfair or unreasonable to expect them to know how to do the content.

If the people asking for geared people were themselves new to the instance, then that's just setting themselves up for failure. That's like people who want to do CM/Prae for the story/cutscenes ASKING for speedrunners to join. No way it goes well.

Tank is wearing full cloth and he is wondering why these brylox(sp) mobs are so mean to him, 2 hits and he is dead, and the thm doesnt bother to helpme with sleeps, noooo instead he wakes them up!, haha we didnt even make it pass the first boss.

It's pretty standard fare really. I still play things like WoW and LoL and it's not that common in FF really but the baduns can stick out.

I remember in one of my Garuda storyline runs helping some gaffers/frieds we pugged one other via DF and everyone was newish so I was explaining the fight. AsI had just got done explaining about the feathers the pug MNK, out of nowhere, says in the middle of my convo: "Calling it now, the healer or the tank or the mage is gonna b*tch about me for not killing adds instantly".

I was like "effing excuse me?" IRL but I managed to type somewhat sensibly "I am glad you learned so much about my personality in our short time together, but I am going to continue if you are done". He shut up and we downed it first try. I almost started calling him Mopey the Monk before he left but just went on my way, I'll prolly never see him/her again anyway.

MMOs are just an extension of the Internet and everything that comes with it. This game certainly isn't exemplary or anything but it's nothing bad imo.
