Well, i'm sure all this mess around pes 2008 in ps3 version, an a little bit around other versions, but mostly ps3, has been the cause of some serious headaches..
I was also very much surprised to see the game in action when i was completly let down by the huge slowdowns ingame.. (yes, it was installed on HDD)...
the strange thing here is, as you all know, there are some people that say that the game is fine, and then there's people that say the game is unplayable...
isn't the game the same? well, here's what i found out.
i played the game on a samsung lcd 1080p, with a cheap hdmi cable, with the ps3 set at 1080p, and the game was what it was, unplayable..
next day, i just so happened to be at a friend's home, where he was all happy to getting pes 2008, when i was waiting to see his face when he was going to turn the game on.. i was the one that got a huge surprise..
the game was running smoothly... wtf?!?! i tough..
he was playing in an old crt..
i then made my day's objective to figure out what was going on... here's the deal..
the exact same game runned ok, on 2 diferent crts.
on a plasma non hdtv it runned ok, but with slightly slowdowns on corners, and a little more on replays
it was then when i played on a samsung hdtv, with the cable from ps2 (my friend still didnt had the chance to purchase one..) that the answer appeared..
i then returned to where i had played in the first place.. and setted the PS3 to display at only 576... the game was very much improved on fluidity..
then when finally removing that cheap hdmi cable, and just use the cable that comes with ps2..
result .. the game suffered a huge downgrade on graphics as i knew it would (it was running at 576 on an 52'') but it ranned super smooth...
no slowdowns, on corners nor replays...
i´m no expert, but i remember shingo saying that he didn't knew why the game was having slowdowns.. and then there's this mixed reviews, some with great scores, some with horrible scores...
so.. it's konami that didn't tested all tvs? is there something wrong with the hdmi cheap as shit cable..should we buy a very good hdmi cable?
i don't know...
all i know is that to some people the game was fine, and to others it was not..
and today i saw the same game playing diferently on very diferent settings of tvs, with/without hdmi cable..
how to fix that? beats me.. but i hope Konami has already figured it out..
just try it.. get your ps3 and game, and change to another set (another tv, with/without hdmi cable...
and see for yourself.. the diference is very very noticeable.
