I am sorry, but what is the point of having off screen Wii gaming if you still have to use the wiimote? I am not pointing the wiimote at that small screen.
unified system account
I was just asking. It sounds like a hassle.
I don't see why it wouldn't.
Hopefully they map in some kind of way to play games like Galaxy and DKCR. That might require a patch. I guess we'll know it mere minutes.
MERE MINUTES!
And I ask again, what about games that have CC and gamecube controller support already?
The game pad has a sensor bar on it
I honestly don't see how they couldn't have got the Gamepad to emulate the Classic Controller Pro or Wiimote non-pointer stuff. THAT would have been a full megaton. As it is, it's a smallton, but still nice.
There's a sensor bar on the GamePad. I remember a video back around launch of someone playing Blops 2 with Wiimote control and Off-TV Play.
...Is this not what many wanted or am I mistaken on what this is?
Yea I see no reason why games that support CC or GC controllers cant be mapped to the gamepad I can understand games with Wii mote only controls
How would you play wii games without the wiimote?
You can output sound separately even when using the HDMI cable!!!
now all they need to do is have the gamepad "pretend" its a classic controller in Wii mode. Can't be that difficult right? right?
It says 'Games cannot be controlled with the GamePad."
Sigh, everything has to be baby steps. Still a nice unexpected surprise though. It says 'Games cannot be controlled with the GamePad."
Megaton. This is amazing.
Baby steps, maybe next update.Gah. Should've made it so it could work as a Classic Controller for games that have that feature. Xenoblade and The Last Story off tv with the gamepad was oh so close.
Repeating (I just assumed this was obvious) - Wii games still require a Wii controller (Wii Mote etc) to function. Only the image is played on the game pad - you can't use it to control the games directly.
-USB Keyboard
-Wii Off TV Play (still requires Wii Motes!)
-Surround Sound support for Wii games (Dolby Pro Logic II)
-Access Friend's List from Wii U menu directly
-Upload screens taken when pausing the game directly to blogs and forums using the browser.
-Option to receive automatically downloaded software from Nintendo.
-Wii U Chat via headset connected to the Game Pad
-View PDFs on the Browser.
Wii games are so entwined with the wiimote I'm finding it odd people thought they could bypass all motion controls and use the gamepad.

Controller mapping in the next update hopefully.

As I read more and more I see it was a common expectation.
How would you play wii games without the wiimote?
Would you also need a sensor bar to play Wii games without a TV or is that built into the little black strip on the top of the pad?
I didn't expect all but I did think that games without motion+ and pointer controls should have been given the option. It would take massive amounts of work for Nintendo to filter through which games would need what controls though so this is the reasonable solution.Wii games are so entwined with the wiimote I'm finding it odd people thought they could bypass all motion controls and use the gamepad.

It is? With most Wii games using the Wii Remote I'd say it's not *that* amazing.
EDIT: So it doesn't support GamePad controllers? That'd be Nintendo alright.
BTW: It's updating here in New Zealand (and losing connection during the process of course given Nintendo's great server infrastructure)
I so would have finally opened my copy of The Last Story if I could play it on the Gamepad. I understand motion control games wouldn't work, but ones that supported the Classic or GCN controller would work just fine, I'd assume those would be fine. Oh well, maybe next time....Gah. Should've made it so it could work as a Classic Controller for games that have that feature. Xenoblade and The Last Story off tv with the gamepad was oh so close.
