Fighting Games Weekly | Sept 30 - Oct 6 | Hard Knockdown Life

What does Lap Chi do that he has all this money to spend on tournaments?

edit: Not a rhetorical question; I'm sincerely asking.

Did anyone watched The Break last night? KDZ won again or the normalization was too much for him? I fell asleep before it started ¬¬

The 2009 SF4 was pretty fun. They should do it again. But there is way more games now taking time.

I remember that pretty well, that was a great team tournament back when the game was still so new. I can't find Art's match against Dagger G anymore. That was my favorite match of the night. Art was losing by quite a bit but then found his way in to start the come back. After resetting with stomps in the corner, he read the flash kick and teleported. Back then Seth's teleport had less recovery so he was able to recover in time to land his Ultra.

SF4 is my first competitive fighter and high level play was still pretty new to me. But seeing stuff like that totally blew my mind because it was making me understand things that I didn't understand before. Like the fact that Art was able to predict the FK and bait it in order to land Ultra. Those were the good ol' days when we were all still learning how to play this game.

I'm baffled by the FGC's literal obsession with that anime.

Honestly, haven't seen it, but I know what it is because of what everyone else has said about it.

This particular image has me going because:

  • Knowing about the manga/anime, and the FGC, I can see it's an amazing mesh of the two things
  • Being a sponsor for SS, seeing stuff like this makes me incredibly hype, and happy to have helped them bring this and the upcoming event to life.

My list would be:

UMVC3 (Guaranteed anyways)
USF4 (Guaranteed anyways)
Killer Instinct (Guaranteed anyways)
King Of Fighters 13
GGXrd
Super Turbo (I have too much love for this game)
Skullgirls

Side tournament of MVC2, and a mid/low-tier tournament for UMVC3.

Look how that just went south so terribly.

Can't even blame it on the alcohol because it was laughs with Mago + Gootecks + PR Rog.

Oh well.

Tru
Cause it's awesome and there hasn't been an action anime with mass crossover appeal since FMA:B ended.
A shame we have to settle for a berserk lite with a pretty weak narrative.

I mean that's fair I just don't think the show is that good and deserves all this fanfare.

Ken Lobb was interviewed about the state of play according to Microsoft:

We’re doing this with Killer Instinct. I’m going to be shipping characters after we launch and I’m going to invite about 10,000 people to be the ones that help us balance them; the same way that we’ve been inviting Evo people to Double Helix.

Without getting into the whole XBox One thing, it's fascinating that it's built into the software they can whitelist people to get code updates/participate in stuff like this.
