Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

I am pretty against the idea of a playable Nintendog. Beating up realistic puppies sounds a little too nasty for Smash, and changing them to something more goofy and cartoony sounds like changing the Nintendogs into something they aren't--it sounds like creating some sort of cartoon dog and then just labeling it as "Nintendog, take our word for it." Their realistic depiction is part of what I think makes Nintendogs what they are--virtual pets, reasonable digital facsimiles of real animals.

I don't think every franchise really needs a character necessarily. I think Animal Crossing is a decidedly different beast.

Exactly. That's why I went with Laughing Dog since he's not realistic and cartoony dog where people wouldn't have problem to beating him up because of his mocking laughs. :P

Also it's possible that we could have nintendog as playable character due to the stage in 3DS.

I remember when the Brawl trailer with Nintendog came out and people thought one was playable.

I was fairly in the idea of "That doesn't seem right."

Going through my daily routine of skipping to the last page of this thread before I go to bed so that in the morning I can skip straight to the new picture.

Peta would probably support it.

You do know Peta actively euthanize animals that people give to them right?
That's more due to gross-incompetence when they do mass adoptions from pet pounds and have no clue what to do with all the animals than flat out malice, but yeah PETA's a pretty terrible animal rights group in comparison to far more sane but smaller ones.

Wrong.

Damn you Ash.

If there's another character from a significant casual franchise, my money would be on Dr. Lobe. (Aside from Mii which I consider almost a given)
I don't particularly want him, but he'd be a good complement to Wii Fit Trainer, with brain training and body training software being the two pillars of the blue ocean strategy.

Speaking of Peta, where's Peta Smash Bros where I can play as evil Tanooki-murder Mario and Cockfighting Ash

Didn't you finish the game? [Spoilers for Pokémon Black & Blue]
Ash turns back into a good guy and creates Pokémon Ethically Treated, Awesome to spread compassion around the world.

I'm 99% confident the Duck Hunt dog isn't going to be playable. Duck Hunt was never a big deal in Japan, which is obviously where this game is being made. Its popularity came by being bundled with Super Mario Bros. in America. Also, all things considered, the dog is a very minor background character; every other series in Smash Bros. is represented with a main protagonist (which Duck Hunt doesn't really have).

Sonic's the mascot of a major Japanese publisher that was putting consoles out for decades -- the games might sell better in the West, but Sonic's still an incredibly well-known character in Japan. He ranked tenth in Famitsu's reader-voted list of the top 50 video game characters a couple of years ago.

Valid points, but that still doesn't address Kid Icarus. Saying eastern popularity is the deciding factor in whether or not a character is included seems like a bit of a stretch. Especially when we have evidence that contradicts that assumption.

And saying Duck Hunt Dog is a minor character is a disservice. He is the only character in Duck Hunt, a game that helped launch the NES, a system that dominated North America, a system that turned Nintendo into a titan. Duck Hunt has a significant role in Nintendo's history, and is very well known in the biggest video game market in the world.

Duckhunt dog would be awesome! Not sure about Nintendog though, but if one is playable I'll trust Sakurai.

Snake should leave.

Smash is a celebration of Nintendo history. He never should have been chosen in the first place. I know, he had a unique moveset and really brought fresh ideas to the table but let's not forget what smash is first and foremost. Let's get more NINTENDO history relevant characters and have them bring fresh new movesets.
For a period of time Snake was only known in most of the world BECAUSE of the NES.

What would his moveset be?

Fire Math equations to piss us off?

No. He'll be the final boss of classic mode. We'll fight him in a bland crystal stage without any way to get KO'd, the words "WiiU" and "3DS" floating in the background. He won't have a moveset of his own, instead he will summon puppet versions of the cast to fight for him, spending his time taunting the player instead. After their [the puppets'] stamina is knocked down to zero we'll have to hit him a couple of times before he summons more puppets. Repeat 3x and the battle is over.

Smash4 is a PSABR knock-off confirmed D:

Yes.
If it has to be a Konami character they should better include Simon Belmont. His history is much more Nintendo-centric.

If snake is back its because sakurai wanted him back, thats the end of it, snake wasent a particurly huge part of nintendo history when he was put into smash, and only slightly so now, whether we think snake should or shouldnt be apart of smash has absolutely no barring because if it did he wouldnt be in brawl in the first place.

Was looking through the thread and noticed that some people here did not like the Sonic Heroes theme when the reveal trailer for Sonic appeared.

Can anyone explain why some people dislike it? Honest question, I don't want to cause trouble. Sonic Heroes had some decent tracks like Casino Park.

Please don't kill me, I subbed. :(

I myself liked the song, didnt find anything particularly wrong with it, the fanbase and even people that dont consider themselves fans consider the typpe of songs really good.

Will Nintendog be playable seems to be a new stage in the cycle since its been discussed at least four times before in this thread.

His moveset can go to an Advance Wars or Battallion Wars rep.

I pray to the wonderful Xerneas that Jigglypuff gets revealed closer to the release of X/Y next week to put my fears at rest that she won't get cut and possibly gains some new nifty Fairy moves and is ridden of its useless Sleep move and the Titanic-terrible nerf from Brawl in general.

You can wait for Mewtwo/Lucario/Trainer confirmation some other time, but they already got their happy Mega-Evolutions to last them for awhile so it's Jiggly's time to shine!
