Here's the story.

About a week ago, respectable NeoGAF member Sal Romano, who runs a site called Gematsu, received an email from a source claiming that Villager, Mega Man, Wii Fitness Trainer, Little Mac, Pac-Man, and Mii would be revealed at E3. Sal did not post this on his site because he wasn't able to verify the information, but he did jokingly post the list a day before SSB4's reveal on NeoGAF as a "prediction" just in case it was correct.

Look at the date. It's important to note that the post hasn't been edited at all.

Sal told me that as soon as Wii Fit Trainer was revealed, he ran and posted the list on his site because he knew at that point it couldn't have been a lucky guess from his source.

I received some additional verification that I'm not going to post, but that's the gist of it all. Sal's legit and his source is credible. It's only a matter of whether Nintendo decided at the last minute to change their E3 plans and hold off on Little Mac, Pac-Man, and Mii.

Yeah, his modern design is pretty bad. His Pac-Man party design is okay though, with mitten hands and no weird teeth.

That got me thinking; Characters are the same for both games, stages are 100% different.

so.. how about items?

I'd like to think that keeping the same roster of characters in both games will save a lot of time for balancing and moveset purposes, while stages can be designed to take advantage of each games respective hardware.

Items though? there's a lot of interesting ways to make items mix with the 3D effects on 3DS or to take advantage of the WiiU's larger screen and stronger power.

I can easily imagine having a whole different array of items (and pokemon/assist trophies) per version.

That's a quite good idea. I know Pokeball Pokemons are more likely to be same, but I wonder if they would do same thing for Assist Trophies. They would have specific characters on each system, Isaac on 3DS and Captain Rainbow on Wii U.

Honestly, I would rather to have same items, pokeballs and assist trophies on both system to save the time because they have to work harder on downsizing the characters models and make sure they would work on 3DS correctly. Also they would have to design many stages for each systems. I would guess we might get 30ish stages each system.


Edited: I'm still bothered by customization options since we haven't hear nothing about it. I don't think we will ever find out until early Q2 or earlier.

My friend brought up that they could reveal Mii as newcomer on the day of Mii's Birthday which is November 19, but it's more likely that they could go with Japanese's Wii Release date which is Dec 2.

I think Pac-Man would happening since Sakurai kinda teased Namco Representative, but I think Mii and Little Mac probably is more likely to be referring to their stages, instead of playable characters.

I would be happy if we got those 3 characters as playable characters because Little Mac really deserve it.

Square Enix is the last of the major Japanese publishers, but the problem with them is that their most popular series (Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy) change protagonists with each new entry. I could see a Slime as a "vulnerable" Assist Trophy in the vein of Starfy, but it seems too generic and weak to be the playable representative for an entire company.

I know I'm late as hell, but it's really great to see Sonic return. He was the only Brawl character I was worried about not returning. I also really want to see Zelda and Ganondorf, but they're basically locks so no worries. I also want to see Mewtwo return from Melee. As far as new characters go I still want Palutena, Little Mac, and Ridley.......... even if he is too big. I wonder when we'll start seeing brand new characters instead of returning characters though.

I don't know how to explain this very well but the problem with this Sonic sometimes is that his eye and his cheek muzzle mouth thing don't line up "properly" like they usually do. So it gives Sonic this irregular grinning look compared to his usual grin.

His eye should fit perfectly in his muzzle and instead his eye cuts right through the end of it.

Gilgamesh is more of an insider icon than a popular one.
Black Mage or Chocobo are probably the most likely Squeenix character choices if they were to be included.

And I doubt it would be Lightning - Sakurai is a big fan of classic stuff, so I'm sure he wouldn't put in the recent lead, but more a generic icon of the series.

Pac-Man is way more at home fighting Sonic and Mario than Snake is, but it's all conjecture because we don't know what Sakurai thinks or how he works. I'd be personally fairly surprised if Snake was in, but it's Sakurai. He sort of just does what he wants.
