They simply chose not to make more when they obviously could have done more and there's no way to know whether they did it because of them counting the Mega Pokemon or them just not wanting more.

I will admit that the "If we didn't have Mega Pokemon they would just be evos of old Pokemon" argument is pretty decent though.

Oh I was being sarcastic. The number of new species doesn't bother me. I am a bit disappointed that there won't be traditional evos for the ones that really need it. Poor Dunsparce...
 
If Pinsir gets a mega evolution instead of an actual evolution, I will be pissed.

I'm not going to use mega evolutions out of principle if that's the case.

Mega Evolution is just a balanced way of evolving popular and powerful Pokemon lol.
 
I would be surprised if Pinsir doesn't get a mega evolution. Heracross getting one and the trademark list seems to point towards it getting one

Oh I know I don't have a problem with that, I just feel some pokemon needed it more like farfetched and dunsparce. Some pokemon who really could use an evo aren't powerful enough to warrant a mega evo though since they'd also be giving up the use of held items.
 
I can understand the backlash behind megas and the drop in new pokemon, but that definitely doesn't apply to everyone. I love the megas, and I really like the pkmn that are new and I don't need 30 more to feel like its a good generation.

Maybe Im a sucker for nostalgia (even though I've played, beaten, and love every game from each generation barring Crystal), but I think megas is a great addition an reason to use pkmn like Ampharos or Abomasnow that I haven't before.
 
Personally I care as much about traditional evos to pre-gen 5 pokemon as I do for mega evos, as in very very little. I was resigned into what kind of gen this would be from the moment they revealed sylveon and mega mewtwo y.

Edit: Actually I'd say I care more about mega evos (or at least I would if most so far weren't god awful ugly or limited to popular pokemon I have no interest in nor that need them) since they are at the least a new take on alt forms with interesting rules and potential metagame strategies to come from it .
 
I'm still not that big on the mechanic itself, but some of the mega designs are pretty cool. The mechanic is here and me being unsure about it isn't going to make it go away, so I might as well just deal with it, and you never know, I might learn to love it.

Though the idea of Mega Mawile having legendary-tier stats is pretty amusing, if the likes of other megas are to go by.
 
Just watched the first ep of the Origin anime, I like how it showed that gym leaders have different pokemon based on the experience of the opponent.
 
Thinking about going Fennekin in order to pick Squirtle and use one of the Grass/Ghost pokemon. All starter designs have grown on me.

Nah, the current way weather abilities work is what's bullshit. Weather teams absolutely flood the OU and Uber tiers. If Drizzle, Sandstream, Drought, and Snow Warning are reduced to five turns, that will call for much more tactical use of their belonging Pokemon. No more just calling in Politoad, letting it die, then proceeding to destroy with Swift Swim for the remainder of the game.

A nerf like this will also rebalance the tiers. Excadrill and Kingra likely wouldn't be banned to Ubers anymore, among others.

true, well not actually the plot but the locations and things you have to do. i don't mind seeing pokemon, i'm not sure how the surprise seeing them online is any different than encounter them while gaming. at that point i would go online anyway to see when/if/how they evolve :P
 
Even if there isn't enough traditional postgame content, I'm really excited to consistently battle my online and IRL friends. Are secret bases in?

Is Bergmite likely to evolve? I like him as is, but it's fun to imagine how an evo might be.

I'm glad. It's always so dumb in Pokemon games how the gym leaders are hyped up as these hardcore, dedicated trainers and then their best pokemon is like a level 9 pidgeotto.
 
I would be completely okay with weather abilities getting that nerf.
 
I haven't played since Diamond (which I didn't beat), and I know I should probably get W1 or 2, but I'm tempted to get Conquest to keep in my 3DS game slot (I've been all-digital with 3DS thus far).
