Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

No really. It actually bothers me when people call it Waifu Emblem. I know it's pretty much true about the game... but still. :/ (Sorry I'm extra bitchy tonight for some reason. I'm in one of those mood swings where I'm easily ticked off.)

I already have the game, barely played it, I'll probably give it a fair shake whenever I'm in the mood for a long game.

In spite of the ridiculous stuff pairing-off going in FEA, it really is a strong as heck game.

edit because I remembered my comment on the last page: Does anyone really know of any major first Nintendo party titles exclusive to Satellaview? I know it has a ton that haven't been released since (except for Fire Emblem's special episodes) but not much beyond that.

Who is the boingyest in Smash?

Mirror mirror on the wall, who Is the boingyest of them all?

I hate the waifu stuff too, but FEA is one of the best 3DS games

On the subject of FE:A, I've really enjoyed the demo a lot when I played it that one time. Although it's apparently a long game, and I don't have much patience for those, I'll have to give my copy a fair try when I'm in the right mood for it.

Back on the subject of Smash Bros. Do you guys think the OST will be much different in the 3DS version? With songs based on handheld titles instead of consoles titles. I am going to be extremely disappointed if there's not one single Game Gear song for the Sonic franchise.

I hope so. There's a lot of great handheld tunes that usually get lost in the shuffle for their console counterparts. In general, I really hope to hear that they're going as all-out with the music as they did in Brawl. They ended up with an amazing soundtrack for that, even if there were some holes in it with some series simply getting shafted musically like MOTHER.

Agreed. At least this.

Don't forget this great song or even this.

I have "Waifu" Emblem but I haven't got past Chapter 5 and people keep telling me i've barey got started!

It's a hard game and I don't have patience for it. I'll play it when I feel I have the time, as i'm trying to beat Mario and Luigi DT first.

I'm hoping Sakurai mixes the OST. In the Wii U game, the Animal Crossing stage has New Leaf music and the 3DS battlefield has Melee's battlefield music.

Hopefully they combine them for best of both worlds.

All this talk of Pac-Man really makes me hope Sakurai gets creative with his moveset. I imagine his roll attack could also be a throwback to classic Pac-Man. Maybe something like this? (forgive me and my crude doodle).

With the exaggerated action lines and effects in Smash for maybe Wario's shoulder charge will look even more like it does in the Wario Land series?

Good idea.

Just switch out the ghastly New-Man design with this:

And everything will be peachy.

Wow nice work for a doodle, friend

Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday
Today it-is Friday, Friday (Partyin')
We-we-we so excited
We so excited
We gonna have a ball today

Tomorrow is Saturday
And Sunday comes after ... wards
I don't want this weekend to end

in a perfect world we would get
mecha Fiora

Nah, Dunban is still superior. I mean, he's DUNBAN. His name inspires fear in emotionless mechanical monsters who have spent millenia on what constitutes another world.

I think "Waifu Emblem" is just an affectionate, self-deprecating term that fans coined for it. No doubt picking the right girl is a big part of the game, or its appeal, but there's a lot more to the game than that, and getting bent out of shape over one goofy name people've given it seems so small in the scheme of things.

Cordelia > Olivia > Tharja > Tiki > Lissa. No others need apply.

Plus the game introduces us to some really fun characters, like Gregor! He's definitely one of the best in the game. I also really liked Stahl, Fred and Basilio.

If the game did get a rep, though, it'd have to be Chrom or Lucina.

Is it honestly that good?

I've not passed C5 which people still refer to as a "tutorial".

It's an enjoyable game. What made it great for me are the character interactions. I hope we get a sequel :/.

And I hope Owain or Lucina appear in SSB. His hand hungers :'( Nintendo, pls.

If we could only have one more sword wielder I would choose Takamaru or Samurai Goroh over Chrom.

I love Fire Emblem, but I am not too excited about getting another lord, plus I think Marth and Ike already hold that down really well.

I should play it more then..

I want to see all this Tharja hype.

The character interactions are the best part of the "waifu" stuff. I would always stick myself with a boring, create-a-unit only character like Priam so I could pair everyone else in the craziest relationships. Pairing people to make yourself laugh is the greatest thing.

I find most of what Nowi says very funny and all the talks with Morgan are amazing (especially Morgan "M" and Owain). Just have the people talk and enjoy the show.

Do you like turn-based strategy? If so, I'd say it's definitely a great entry. The battles are diverse and feel different from each other. The Pair Up mechanic shakes up the standard Fire Emblem formula while it keeps lots of good stuff from past games like the way support conversations are handled, characters learning skills, and series standards like the weapons triangle.

The story is blah cliche, but most of the peripheral characters are well-written, so it's worth hearing them talk to each other. And it even becomes a gameplay mechanic due to how the bonuses stack up. This adds more customization to your team, in addition to reclassing units, choosing skills, and forging new weapons.

Strategy games depend on the individual as far as difficulty, but you can probably find something that fits your playstyle. Personally, I feel Classic is the way to go, but Casual is available. Normal should be easy enough. Hard starts to get difficult for some chapters. And Lunatic will kick you in the boingy parts.

My only problem with the game is that random battles and DLC will overpower you. The game's not quite as balanced as past entries. But if you just do Chapters and Paralogues (and especially if you limit your Paralogues), then the difficulty is fine.

Overall, the fact that mixing and matching characters adds to gameplay makes an already replayable series even more replayable. I've beaten it twice on Hard and once on Lunatic, and I'll probably go back again sometime.

Brb, booting up Fire Emblem.

If you're playing on Casual Mode with Normal
difficulty, it shouldn't be *that* hard.

And I don't get why all you guys are knocking the waifu element of Fire Emblem. If you guys want to hear something you'll find really creepy, I was majorly pissed when I reached S-rank and found Owain and Lucina couldn't marry,
incest be damned!

I'm up for Chrom or Lucina (honestly, having the latter would be really unique considering we don't have enough female fighters in the game, she kicks ass as well)

After seeing what was done with Mega Man's model for Smash and Pac-Man's model in Mario Kart, I think it's safe to believe Sakurai will go with the better one.

He doesn't get to decide. Namco could be like , Use the new one. And that will be all of it, hell he cant really argue since they are helping him out with the game, they already doing him a favor.

it's a miracle Capcom allowed Mega Man to be in Smash considering how dead he is.

Why Konami killed Hudson I don't know, but poor Bomberman has it way worse than Mega Man :(.

Smash Bros. has a tendency to breathe life into dead IPs. It had no small part in getting Fire Emblem localized finally, birthed the design for a new Kid Icarus, and we got a Game & Watch reprint!

That's a great idea, but it would be even better if this was the Final Smash. It could have Pac-Man eat a Power Pellet and transform into his retro counterpart, able to eat players off the stage. In fact, Namco should do this with the modern Pac-Man on his games as well. Modern Pac-Man w/ Power Pellet is so awkward to see -- this would make for a more intuitive design, not to mention a throwback to the classic Pac-Man.

Erm, it seems some people misunderstood me. (Probably my fault because I often don't make myself clear on things). I'm not knocking on the marriage system of FE:A (well outside of some of the very obvious pandering). It's the fandom
