Gamefreak, that Aegislash ability gave me an idea... I love a pokemon named deoxys attack (you probably already know where I'm going...). Like you already know, he has 2 "little" problems: defense and especial defense. So, what about removing his current ability (pressure) and giving him that aegislash ability?? It would be reeeeeeally easy because deoxys already has a "decent" defense form...thanks for your time

That's the joke. Honedge is basically Deoxys if it could switch in-battle. If Yvetal, Arceus, Reshiram, Kyurem-W and Darkrai weren't around to tear it a new one it'd have a solid chance in Ubers,

Hmm about Arceus that guy got revealed officially two years after launch. Ofc. we knew he existed due to hacks but since the 3DS isn't hacked yet we have to wait a while to see all legendaries. Goddamn.

Speaking of Deoxys let's look at the Attack and Defenses for Normal and Defense Deoxys and compare it with Aegislash.
Deoxys N:
Attack: 150
Defense: 50
Sp. Attack: 150
Sp. Defense: 50
Deoxys D:
Attack: 70
Defense: 160
Sp. Attack: 70
Sp. Defense: 160
and now Aegislash [Attack/Defense Stance]:
Attack: 155/55
Defense: 55/155
Sp. Attack: 145/60
Sp. Defense: 60/145
These are offenses/defense roughly equal to Deoxys, can be changed at will during battle plus Aegislash has a far better typing. This thing's going to be pretty broken.

I'm 85% sure that would be banned from literally every tier including a hypothetical Mega-Tier. Arceus' basic form is already among the most powerful pokemon in Ubers with only a handful of pokemon that can stand up to it. Giving its attack or speed any kind of boost would leave absolutely no survivors.

True it does have some pretty commmon weaknesses in Fire and Ground so that will limit it somewhat.
Normal Forme is the closest to Aegislash in terms of attack stats so I used that in my comparison.
Sometimes its fun, online I got into awesome random battles. I had a wall battle with my umbreon and some dudes shuckle once, my umbreon won but it was close. I think once I got rid of shuckle I was able to sweep their team. Im too old for competitive battles now and I have too many games to play.
I've heard that the ??? plate is just trash bits since Curse exists in the movepool. Someone was telling me it was possibly for engine stability since without the proper amount of data, the game could crash. Who knows.. That's just what I heard.
I still don't know why they created the Pokemon "God"
What was the point of that? What could be possibly stronger than that. Fatal flaw in design.

They made Mega Mewtwo, so why not. Arceus is one of the coolest legendaries out there.

Maybe that is because there isn't much else to leak in regards of new Pokémon
They wanted D/P to center around creation and the order of the natural world. The continents, volcanoes, the moon, dreams, nightmares, the oceans, the processes of human thought, time, space, antimatter, "the other side". It's pretty obvious they wanted to explore a pantheon. You can see the mythological archetypes in quite a few of the pokemon.
Chief God: Arceus
The sibling rivals: Dialga/Palkia
The Dueling opposites: Cresselia and Darkrai
The opposer, the traitor and the Psychopomp: Giratina (the latter is based off of a dex entry from Pearl I think)
The guardian god: Regigigas
The pantheon deal ties in a lot with Sinnoh's motifs of history and tradition.
And ??? Arceus was implemented in case someone decided to screw around and change Arceus' type to ??? through hacking. The game would crash otherwise.

To add to this, Masuda even named the region for its mysterious qualities. The theme of antiquity and ancient mythological pokemon is pretty strong. From the Champion's occupation being a researcher on the topic, to the ancient statues, temples, ruins and murals, to the myths in Canalave city library. They went out of their way to create nice lore for that region.
Really interesting stuff, which is why I was disappointed Gen V wasn't as cohesive or well realized.
