Looks like the Odin event caused a huge zerg rush to the Shroud on Hyperion, which overloaded the servers and took the whole US/EU array down.

Now this is going too far. Odin should be a hest or dungeon.

These timed spawns of his and Behemoth are annoying. I'd leave shout on but it's so overrun with gil sellers that it's almost not worth it.

I don't even bother anymore when Odin/Behemoth spawns. I know there will be issues with it with the mob disappearing or the abilities not working as they should. Not to mention the lag and overwhelming amount of special effects everywhere forcing my FPS to 2 per second.

I'm really hoping that the upcoming Lightning FATE is handled differently. A person in the FC [sorry I can't recall the name] brought up the idea of having all of the players around the mob disappear once Odin/Behemoth is engaged [unless you're in a party with them]. All of them would still be contributing to the damage you just wouldn't necessarily see all of it.

I know it will likely die down in a few months once people get all of the items they need from them, but what happens when limited-time-only FATE's become a reality?

The exodus is coming

Pop seems to have been on a steep decline the past couple weeks and I don't think trial expiration is the primary culprit. The end game is awful and the ease/speed of Fates have made leveling new classes valueless, meaningless, and unrewarding.

Going to go log in in the next 15-20 minutes.

Before I do though, I've been wondering. Several times I've heard people refer to an, "Aggro," meter, which I presume to mean, where your aggro is on an enemy verses others.

Where this heck is this?! I don't think it's on screen by default.

BTW, am I right in assuming that, if a DPS or healer starts going full off before you've built up good aggro, and you've already shot Provoke, the only thing you can do is spam Overpower, Flash, or any aggro-attack, correct?

That's happened several times, when somebody in the party got impatient and ran in too early. This usually happens in pug groups though. Is there anything I can do to swiftly pull aggro back?

8 garuda runs in a row (not even DF) and 8 wipes mostly at the end.

I gotta go ly dow,

If you havent done Titan HM yet, then you will have a bad time if its not a good party. I have been on 20 but everyone keeps dying before or during the heart. I hope SE fix this, using duty finder is almost if not impossible to do it.

Bars under names on the party list.

Save Provoke until you've got a runaway, it forces your hate to exactly one point of damage/two points of healing ahead of the party leader. Then immediately follow it up with another hate-building skill. If you lead with voke it does nearly nothing and puts your only guaranteed catch-up on CD.

It is on by default, it can be seen on the lower portion of each players job icon,( I.e. the sheild for pld, the meteor for blm, ect.) in the party list. It is a horizontal white bar that increases in size as Aggro increases.

They are dumb and made it like 5 pixels wide.

I'll have to look for those.

Also.

Oh, so that's how Provoke works.

Do you see the Enemy List, should be on your left hand side, unless you played with your UI and moved it somewhere or completely removed it

You have color orb next to name, they go Green > Yellow > Red (that's the Aggro Meter)
You can only see yours, no one else, so if a Healer goes Oh Shit my aggro meter rising, they are going up in threat levels, just a precaution for the tank to either move up the scale or try to hold hate by doing Cover or Spam an enmity+ move to keep the hate on them

As a tank most will be Red from the start, hell when you grab a group you are already Red due to shield lob/tomahawk + Flash to hold hate
If you are Off Tank say in CM and are grabbing adds, they all start out green, once you initiate the most hate they go Red on your enemy list, so 1 pull will be red, while you grabbing other set will be green until you grab their attention

Guess I got it Wrong on which you wanted to talk about
_____________________________

On the Barrage R' Us from the start DPS or Over Heal R' Us Mages, if they pull too much, it's really hard to get it back quickly
The best you can do is stun and get off at least 2 moves that push you up back on top
Sometimes you get lucky, most times it takes 1 full combo rotation to get aggro back

Best time to use Provoke is if mob runs away, start your combo, get to 2nd in chain, provoke, hit with third, most of the time it's an insta turn on you

I definitely enjoyed FFXI BRD a lot more. Full support + NIN sub + constantly pulling and sleeping mobs for chain 300+ was just somehow more fun than a somewhat gimp DD/support class. Kinda wish I leveled MNK instead honestly

50 levels later

i decide that bards are boring

Don't worry... 50 levels later I've decided to strictly focus on PVP and exploring. I don't think I'll be doing any more dungeons or what not. I suck as a tank but I like the class too much. Also, I don't want to spend the time re-leveling. :P

That's all I did when I played WoW and that's where I excelled so. ;)

I didn't get that, but my game did freeze my PS3 and now I can't load the NA/EU world list after restarting.

My PS3 froze during Ifrit HM after I lb'd him, signed back on to Ifrit being dead and the loot gone. Someone asked "did you get your lance drop?". Nope...probably the most depressing thing that's happened to me in the game

That is a huge bummer. If you continue farming, try to find a Monk to que up with (assuming you are using Duty Finder) or a Dragoon that doesn't need it.

It always finds two ranged and two melee. I did that after losing the roll a few times. Its still a chore of course, but at least if it drops its yours, and same for the Monk!

Yeah it was actually an all-GAF run for once, the one time I could've for sure had the lance but...:-/.

I really hate a majority of the MMO community at times. If shit can't be handed to them on a silver platter they complain and fuck a bunch of people over rather than just trying to do something that IS doable, but is a bit more difficult.

Just had a HM Ifrit group insta-break up simply because there was no AOE LB there. Seriously people? I've done it without before fine, but noooo, if it can't be as easy as possible, then it just isn't possible, so people leave. So stupid.

ive died so many times to Titan its ridiculous. =( Wish I can group up with you Gaffers for one Titan run on Ultros.

My last pug group was really good actually but we ran out of time on him and we dropped.

Had a similar thing happen with a group with two WAR tanks for HM Ifrit. Healers weren't even willing to try.

That's honestly why I don't enjoy PVE in the first place in a lot of MMO's. I do enjoy PVP and the rest of the community though, outside of dungeons / raids etc.

I think a big part of the problem is the little end game content this game has. This was also an issue in 1.0 where they have little to do and alot of it boils down to running the same thing over and over. While that is expected in most mmo the problem is people burn out on it and its no longer fun and becomes a chore which the tomes very much are hence making players loose their patience and that when the problems happen.

They have very much streamlined this game from 1.0 its certainly much more solo friendly and much easier which imo has hurt the game abit. The rate people are leveling they start to expect everything fast so it doesn't surprise me people are tired of tomes hell in 1.0 it took a few months to get one 50 now you can knock one out in 3 days.

While I think the community needs to lighten up abit (me included) SE isn't helping by basically ignoring the entire community when there is clearly alot of problems with this game right now as it has been very rocky. The lag, the errors, RMT problems (which they have no idea how to handle) and so on its basically turning into a crap fest within the community. Hopefully this community isn't the downfall of this game because it seems like there is more and more negative experiences than positive ones and alot of frustration.

This. In general, communities behave certain ways for reasons inherent in the game. Not that people can't be better or worse, but certain patterns push certain buttons that lead to certain behavior.

I have 500 myth tomes and I already don't want to run AK. Ever. Don't want it. It's too easy, when it fails it's because someone doesn't pass a gear check and then people get angry and stressed, not like a story mission where it sucks to fail because then you have to retry, but because you are already retrying, for nth time, and this failure added yet another retry to what already is boring as all hell.

If it weren't for crafts and other classes, I wouldn't have subbed. Yet another MMO that focus on an endgame that almost doesn't exist. Leve allowance is the only thing stopping me from just leveling all crafts to 50 on one week... and even then, I kind of think I'll have done them all in two weeks. Then I don't know.

Honestly, I don't know what these games expect from their userbases. It comes to the point where you can rehash what you already whined about the last MMO onto this new one and it applies almost exactly. Even leveling a bunch of crafts feel like me helping the game out, I'm not supposed to be a one-man workshop.

I feel like I give these MMOs a shot for sheer lack of belief that yet again not one shred of feedback was taken from all the other failed games on the market. But nope, there we are, grinding that one dungeon 100 times so we can grind another dungeon 100 times.

Congratulations MMOs.

I farmed twenty-five stacks of Mythril Ore just to level from 31 to 36, shoot me now. Gathering is such a gigantic grind. On the plus side, I might have almost enough mats to get that portion of the Armorer achievement.. if I can muster up 4500 ice shards. And that's before I get into cobalt.

So question to the crafters out there, while I'm sitting in town lvling my gold smithing, I've noticed people around me in the chat window making green (and maybe aetherial though I'm not sure) items. When do you get to learn those crafts. I'm at lvl 41 gsm and I can only seem to make regular and hq accessories

Green only, lvl 50 gear that is actually pretty difficult to make.

So.. Free time ran out, and I had to battle with the square enix account system..

Sadly I lost :(

First, tried to buy the sub with a credit card like in every other mmo I've played. Error 401.

Okay, I'll just buy Crysta then and pay the sub with it. Account Services, Renew Subscription, Crysta, Ultimatepay, Pay with Paypal..

Account is charged, but the site does not recognize it, my sub is not active nor do I receive my crysta. Okay.. guess I'll just email support then and hope they get back to me before I do a chargeback :p

For such a great game, the accounting system for this is truly atrocious and worthy of an endgame boss tag.

edit: Weird, suddenly I got my crysta, with a 1 hour delay it seems.

I don't blame any PUG for looking for the easiest solution to a problem. That's just how it is in PUGs.

I seem doomed to lose the roll on Ifrit's scholar book to tanks every time.

Hey, I passed it when I saw you said you needed it!

Wasn't Yoshi-P regularly bragging in interviews about the huge amount of end-game content this game would have? Oh lord.

I'm still really enjoying the game. One thing that annoys me though like... cool things like the Crystal Tower making it only appeal to raiding groups, that sucks. That sucks HARD.

The amount of content they *want* to add in each patch is pretty impressive though...

I need to step up my game with crowd control on warrior, any tips? It's kind of difficult to aoe mobs with a blm in party, since I didn't want to wake them, and sometimes enemies are all over the place because 1 or 2 gets binded by bard and my flash/aoe misses it, or that last mob got slept before it reaches me.

Sucks overpower doesn't build up wraths :<

Tell your party you are going to do 3 Overpower and if you sleep anything before those 3 Overpower are done, you get to sleep them again.

Alternatively forget about the sleeping and just kill everything while you AoE tank all the trash at once. If you have a BRD and a BLM they'll just AoE everything to death anyways, so sleeping is irrelevant.

Bro, use the gathering leves. You get some pretty large amounts of EXP for them.

I only do actual gathering (as in, spam a particular item for a certain amount of time) when I want to make money. For leveling, it's always leves.

:o never thought of that, I'll give that a try
