WHAT HAVE YOU DONE MEWTWO!??

So... first thing that i thought:

deoxys attack forme stats: HP: 50, attack: 180, defense: 20, sp.atk: 180, sp.def: 20, speed: 150 (total:600)
mewtwo y: HP: 106, attack: 150, defense: 70, sp.atk: 194, sp.def: 120, speed: 140
(total: 780)

deoxys attack is not deoxys attack any more... and mewtwo y has MORE!! special attack than him... and the worst part is that, maybe, mewtwo x is going to have more attack than him?? (from 110 to more than 180 seems stupid but, who knows)

Sp. Atk:194

Attack form Deoxys am cry.

Zygarde is insanely Kawaii, it must be said.

I'm alright with what we got. I believed the "Even Gens have low pokemon" idea from the start and adjusted my expectations accordingly, and I liked a larger proportion of pokemon than usual (1/2 instead of 1/3). I do hope this generation doesn't last longer than 3 years though.

I am loving the idea of Gen VI not having much legendaries. Really hoping Xerneas, Yveltal and Zygarde are the only ones and that they give mega evolutions for the bird trio and any other old legendary that is present in the game, besides Mewtwo.

There are certainly event Pokemon. I expect 3 of them.

Do we know if there's any easy way to receive the other Mega Stones for the Kanto starters you don't choose?

For example, I want to raise a Bulbasaur in X, but I also don't want to miss out on ever getting a Mega Charizard X. Is Charzardite X available later in the game for those that pick Bulbasaur or Squirtle?

Because there's much more to these games than being a gigantic collection of throwaway 'mons?

It does when you only want to use new Pokémon in your team and there aren't any good options.

I had to resort to putting Stunfisk in my team as there are only 3 new electric and they clash with my team typing.

You probably have to trade.

Well, maybe it's worth it to give the old ones some time to shine, since we're four generations removed from some of them at this point. If we keep getting Pokedexes full of Rattata and Spearows, it does bog it down.

I personally have no issue with using Ampharos in my team again since the experience is still going to be new.

ugh why did Game Freak think that Mega Evolution counted as a new Pokémon when they clearly don't.

I don't think they do, it was clearly intentional. I never heard anyone officially say that they considered megas new pokes. Just because you don't like the decision doesn't mean that it was a misinformed one. Gamefreak looked at the numbers and decided they wanted to focus on quality this gen over quantity. The megas are probably unrelated and are certainly not just padding. This game is gonna have plenty of content, just relax and stop being so shrill.

I wish we got more leaks of cosmetic items. I know a lot of people are looking forward to customizing their trainers appearance, but we've only seen a few items from the leakers. It would be cool if there was a lot of throwback clothing from old protagonists or even villain teams. I want a Team Rocket shirt.

Also this thread has TWO MILLION VIEWS.

Yeah I really want to see some more cosmetic stuff. Hoping we have a lot of options for clothes.

This is a relatively old post, but I wanted to quote it and say that I agree 100%. I am really glad we got apparently 70 Pokémon instead of 100+ and I hope they keep making few Pokémon every new generation. I wouldn't be opposed if Gen VII introduced only 70 or even I don't know, 50 new Pokémon only. They could focus on creating Mega Evolutions until every Pokémon has a least one. Focusing on building and fleshing more the Pokémon World and the characters would be great too. Yeah, that would be awesome. The fact we have 700+ Pokémon was making me really worried we would have more than 1000 in a few years :( That is just too much. So yeah, yay for 70 Pokémon!

You can be virtually guaranteed that Gen VII games will reuse most, if not all of the models and animations from Gen VI, so it's not like they have to remake every Pokemon each time they develop a game. New Pokemon are a huge selling point, and keep the games fresh and exciting.

Majority of 70 this time I really like. I think GF has done a good job regarding overall designs in Gen 6. Hitting that 700+ wall is very intimidating to new players. (Even though its freaking awesome to have that much pokemon in store for you!)

Game Freak is going to realize that some pokemon only exists as filler or are jokes themselves. If they could honestly sit down and balance the entire roster to allow each Poke to have a significant niche, then the roster would immediately benefit. You see how much the meta has changed just by switching the types of some old Pokes? Its totally flipped the meta on its head and everyone is scrambling to react and to adopt new gameplans.

I really see them doing this going forward. New Dual type moves. Maybe a type switch on a familiar pokemon. Hell, maybe even remove a type. Some of these pokemon deserve true evolutions. It could make them more viable and reduce clutter among the Pokedex. Megas won't cut it. They are a nice addition but seem to be purely for novelty, promotion, and collection. GameFreak is going to have to chop the Dex if they keep adding new Pokes at this rate... I did have an idea though...

They could soft reboot starting Gen 6 and up with newer games in the future. Then they can always release other versions in the same style that only contain Pokemon from Gen 1 to 5/6. That way, Old Pokemon aren't kicked to the wayside and new pokemon can still receive spotlight and carry the franchise forward.

Everyone's happy!

So we knew of pretty much all the new Pokemon in this game. Id try to find out, but this threads so huge and i'm on my phone.

42/69 have been revealed as of today, yes. Unprecedented levels.

Only 8 evolution lines where no members have been revealed, including single-stagers/legendarys.

I.E.

Binacle's line
Carbink
Goomy's line
Klefki
Pumpkaboo's line
Hawlucha
Bergmite's line
Zygarde

Cheer up guys, Mewtwo is back. Deoxy's design needed major work anyway. Me and my friend literally lold when we first saw that POS.

Ahh high school days, obsessed with art design and pokemon... Now about to have a kid, think Ill ban them from playing gen 3 haha

still disappointed about the lack of new pokemon, they could have made one hell of an awesome game and now it will only be very good. 4 years till the next try eh? :(

Personally, I think I'd be a lot happier with 69 new Pokemon if they hadn't shown like 3/4 of them before release
Yeah, my expectations were in line with the amount of Pokemon they had shown, so now it feels like they overplayed their hand a bit. Oh well.

I suppose now I can look forward to seeing mechanical changes, more new moves, changes to older Pokemon (including the new Megas), and the post-game content (especially Battle Maison). I feel like I've still plenty to look forward to, but the low level of new Pokemon does mar this new game a bit.

The poison dragon no one was expecting.

Nonetheless I welcome our new type combo mon.
Most of us called it when Shkelp came out. Bout time.

See, I felt like I was going crazy because I feel the exact same way, but I had a couple co-workers (with at least one who hasn't played since GSC) who think that approach would be bad for the games since it has a "power gamer's focus" and "puts the multiplayer above the single player". The argument is that having redundant and/or weak is important because it makes the Pokémon world feel more realistic/immersive, rewards players for being discerning and making correct choices when building a party, and encourages swapping out early game Pokémon for later game Pokémon. Apparently, I just don't appreciate the "experience" and focus too much on "power gaming".

Of course, I fundamentally disagreed, and there was somewhat of a heated argument (trivial, I know). Considering we could be considered a game development team and nobody else there disagreed with their position, I felt like I was losing my mind.

But yeah, venting over. Needless to say I agree.

I'm hoping GF will bring their A-game again in Gen 7. With VI, its not just the low roster number that bothers me, but the very poort type balancing among new Pokemon. Poison, Ice, Bug are among the stuff that really got shafted in terms of new representation. Its too bad GF didn't try to spread the love this Gen.

My response to this:

Wow, what heartless assholes. Most people just want to use their favorites. I'd rather have most Pokemon I encounter be useful so that I don't have to deal with the disappointment of getting a Pokemon whose design I like just to discover that it's a piece of shit.
