Now that I look at it, I see a certain pattern...
I was just picking my favorite from each generation (some were really hard to choose one over the other). People were doing it a number of pages back, and at least thats what I though they were doing.

Gen IV (Luxray, Darkrai), Gen V (Chandelure), and Gen VI (Greninja, Zygarde) were tough choices.

To be fair, they cut off Gen V faster than III and IV (which both last 4 years) seeing as they rushed the event legendaries at the end and not having a remake. Gen V seemed like it was meant to fill the gap until they were ready for the 3DS.

I've played all of them.
I like the series, I really do. But at the same time I'm frustrated by the fact that the series pretty much still feels like it did in '98.
Maybe the X and Y will truly feel fresh. I haven't read story spoilers or seen any leaked footage if it's out there. So I guess there's a chance.

Mario made a huge change from 2d going to 3d. Pokemon didn't make a comparable change. I still want pokemon games with a battlesystem like in the Naruto ultimate Ninja Storm games.

Some things I want to see in a R/S/E remake:
- I want the old player character to be a "secret trainer" in the game, much like Red in Gold and Silver. NPC's mention him now and then, and you can face him somewhere after the E4. Lvl 70 Pokémon or higher. (Possibly with a Groudon or Kyogre depending on your version.)
- Mystery bases are still there, but get expanded with wi-fi functionality (easy access friends list like the current PSS system and all)
- The world is still the same, but time has moved on. E4 has undergone changes and there are new gym leaders as well (maybe add a dark gym leader and make up a story why the gym changed to that type? Then again, the old E4 already had a dark type member). I basically want a remake where we play a new guy who has moved to Hoenn a few years after the original player character.
- As I mentioned above, time has moved on so we would need a new story. Not that these games are story heavy, but all of this is happening years after team magma/aqua almost destroyed the world with kyogre/groudon so we'd need some new events besides the gym leaders and E4.

I believe its x2 against Dragon, and x1/2 against poison. So they'd even out.

If those are simply "minor" changes, then Street Fighter 1 to 4 didn't change at all.
