Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

So I was taking a closer look at the Garden of Hope pictures in IntelliHeath's post and something caught my eye.

The screenshots we've seen of the Garden of Hope so far had always been rather odd to me since these two locations aren't anywhere close to each other. What's more interesting is that in the second picture, you actually spot the SS Drake behind the fence (whereas in the first shot, you can see the ship plain as day in the background). Does the stage transit between the two arenas or what?

I wouldn't think so.

Lost World is on both 3DS and Wii U, though. It'd be the most recent game for both.

It's possible. The only gameplay we have from that stage is in the Sonic announcement video.

I'm wondering, who would honestly be pissed if Olimar was replaced with Alph? Olimar feels kind of outdated after playing Pikmin 3. No use of Rock and flying Pikmin either.

maybe the stage scrolls in a circle around the drake?

Olimar is to Pikmin as Marth is to Fire Emblem. I doubted he was going anywhere.

And who knows? Maybe he'll have Flying Pikmin as a recovery now.

None of the classic Sonic games (that anyone remembers) are handheld, though.

Sonic 1 8bit
Sonic 2 8bit
Sonic Chaos
Sonic Triple Trouble

of course it is extremely unlikely since Sega does not care for them, as evident in Sonic Generations :(

i want my sunset park level sega pls

Spoilers: Alph is going to be saved for launch as a secret character. He plays like Olimar except the angle of all his B moves are slightly changed and he has different A moves, so he'll be safe from criticism because he's NOT A CLONE

Maybe he'll use rock and flying pikmin exclusively. Could be cool to send out flying pikmin like missiles to hit you target from afar.

Some GBA Sonic Advanced games? They were pretty good games.

Or we might just get a LW stage.. xD

I'm still surprised at how good LW looks on 3DS, too. I thought SEGA would of gimped it.

That's why I don't think it's likely. I'd expect a Rush level, at best.

(You and me both)

Yeah, I expect Rush to be the earliest of the handheld history for Smash Bros. Iizuka thinks their first Sonic game on Nintendo systems was Rush... not even lying. The advance games are out of the question :(

iizuka pls

Eh, if we were to get a second Pikmin rep, I'd much rather have Brittany than Alph. Not that it makes much of a difference, that is.

I just hope it has a better single player for this one. OR really good online

this roster is taking forever wish we had a leaker like MvC games

We have Nintendo Ninja to take care of those leaks. :P We will evenly get leaks when we get close to the release date. It happened before.

Good Catch, so I assume that it probably would scrolls in a circle like Jazzman said.

It's possible that we would get Alph as secet character due to twitter incident. Nintendo of America posted that Alph is playable character but it was Olimar. :P

Question for those asking for Lucina. Do you want her to replace Marth? Curious.

So, has anything been said in terms of number of anything, like stages or characters?

Not really. I doubt they would ever say anything about that, especially during game's development.

When people said Smash 3DS was under their radar, they really wasn't kidding, were they?

To be honest there's little 3DS version could do to make me buy it out of releasing a year apart from the Wii U version. Surely we're missing some pieces of the puzzle but for now it's hard to see the value of bringing SSB to 3DS outside of potentially making the brand stronger.

Nope, people are assuming up to 45 fighters max. (I expect maybe 40ish)

Stages, nothing at all. Hopefully at least 20 for each game?

I would be utterly disappointed if it's only 20 per game :(

Really?

Okay, maybe 30 then?

Actually I predicted between 45 to 50 characters and 30ish stages.

Think about it, they are giving up with making new SSE so they have more time in their hands so I hope that they would deliver.

Not really. Marth is more important to FE.

Chrom is guaranteed though, IMO.

And seeing as how we're getting a SNES Pilotwings stage of all things, I wouldn't be that worried about a purely recent selection of stages.

This logic only makes sense given even development time, resources, and budget.

Which it might well be, but there's no way to know that for sure.

Very true point, I see what you mean. In that case, I sure hope they do!

Wasn't the original reason for bringing Smash to 3DS was because they could no longer find ways to evolve it on home console? They felt like the portable game was the only way forward, but upon finding technical issues, they decided the Wii U game was needed (also because they were told to make it for Wii U).

So technically, it is making the brand stronger because it's allowing them to push the boat out, rather than ditch the brand.

I agree. I remember seeing some people a while ago saying Lucina should replace Marth, but I wasn't sure if that's the same mindset for every Lucina supporter. It bothered me because Marth is far more iconic than Lucina.

Now that Sonic is voiced by Roger Craig Smith, does anyone expect the "You're too slow" taunt to be less annoying, or will Roger (or whoever the voice director for Smash 4 is) make the taunt intentionally annoying to keep it consistent with Brawl.....or to troll us all?

Chrom or Lucina seem to be the most likely choices they have.

#teamChrom
Seeing as Lucina would essentially be a female Marth clone, I'm gonna have to go with Chrom.

Granted, Robin would be awesome (a character who's not only significant to the plot of Awakening, but is also more unique than the typical sword-user), but I'm pretty sure Chrom is gonna be the one to get in.

I guess I'll say I want Anna for a new Fire Emblem rep. She's been in many games in the series (basically the closest the series has to a mascot besides Marth), was finally made into a playable character in Awakening, has a ton of classes to take move inspiration from, and would add variety to the FE roster (not a lord, female). Give her the Awakening design and there you go.

I think it would work.

Yeah. From what we know.

  • Sakurai admitted that he brainstormed the plans for SSB4 during Feb 2012
  • They could have started on SSB4 development during May 2012
  • They announced alliance between Nintendo and Namco-Bandai for SSB4 development, etc
  • They announced that they have prototype engine ready during June 2012
  • First trailer was shown at E3 2013 with 12 characters
  • We've getting characters at decent pace so far.

I would like to know how big namco-bandai team that they worked with since it might help with our prediction. Also I would like to predict that they will work more than 2 years.

And she wouldn't be a clone of any existing FE character, genius!

Granted, Chrom would probably be a happy medium between Marth & Ike, but still, I wouldn't mind Anna.
