It's already been a decade since R/S. :getting older revelation:

Would not be surprised if Gen 3 starters at the very least got Megas if they remade those games. Would make sense. GF has added new forms in non-main games, so it's probably safe to assume they could add megas as well.

Isn't GameFreak vocally against paid DLC? Nintendo pretty much lets those guys do as they please, so if they don't want it it's not happening.

While by no means am I going to rule out Mega Evolutions as a game mechanic, I am somewhat annoyed by the effect they're having on other pokemon. I'm cool with the ~70 new Pokemon, most of them being completely new species. My issue is the fact a lot of the mega evolutions are for Pokemon that don't really need a boost. At all.

I really liked what Gen 4 did instead by simply giving new evolutions to a lot of old Pokemon to fill out the "new" quota. Because it took existing Pokemon that had very little use and instantly gave them utility. Gliscor, Electrive, Togekiss, Magnezone, Yanmega, Roserade, Weavile, Gallade, Honchkrow, and possibly others that I'm forgetting were all OU or Borderline Pokemon upon having their new evolutions introduced.

There are plenty of cool Pokemon out there that just get neglected because of shitty stats and a limited movepool. I'd much rather have some more of them get some attention. Because it's not exactly like Garchomp and Lucario need attention and stat boosts.

They wouldn't miss out on the oppurtunity to get money for it again. It'll either be a fully-fledged remake in 2 years or so (likely) or unprecedented DLC (far less likely).

That facility line is so weird to me though.

Maybe if it hadn't been unlocked yet or some super obscure way to unlock it? I don't believe it for the record, but things have been well hidden in Pokemon games.

Masuda has come out against paid DLC IIRC. Also, why give up full price standalone money and release a smaller priced download expansion? Almost every pokemon fan will buy it regardless of it being DLC or standalone.
