Wait, is everyone saying Brady trolling or is there an abnormal amount of Patriot fans on this board?

Of course he's good, but Montana and Manning both have him beat.

You could always refer to The List:

I would certainly place Marino and Montana as god-tier in this sort of discussion. Manning is great, but... yeah, I'd take Marino or Montana over him any day.

Fundamentally, yes. He's the best. Real world results? No he's not the best. Favre holds a ton of records, and he's not even the best QB of his generation. In the end, championships beats stats. Lead your team to titles. That is the benchmark for the best QB.

Jerry Rice

He's the best athlete ever in professional sports as far as I'm concerned, with Jordan close behind...

I'm just amazed how many people here love them some 1-dimensional pocket passers though. Sure, you'll have your gimmick QBs like Cunningham, McNabb, Vick, Kordell Stewart, but these never were on the level in the pocket as the Montana/Marino. Steve Young is the best QB imho because he could pass as well in the pocket, but also was able to win on the ground.

wow, can't believe I missed this thread. From the NFL-Gaf thread, I could tell that there is a lot of Brady fans. I would say Peyton Manning has to be in the conversation of the greatest of all time. I would put him over Brady at least. No quarterback ever started for two different Super Bowl winners. If he wins his second SB after coming back from neck surgeries like he did. New team, new receivers. He would set himself from the rest. Greatest period.

I think Elway was more athletic than Young.

I think he probably is the best ever. I am not convinced that any of those Colts teams were great, But Manning somehow overcame that year after year.

He gets injured after making the playoffs in something like 9 out of 10 years, and they go straight to the bottom with a 2-14 record. I think Brady is a great QB and is certainly in the discussion, but he has had a great team around him for the most part.

hmmmm....

haha...i didn't even notice he only put black qbs as gimmicky.

LOL I didnt even realize. I just saw McNabb and thought 1 of these things is not like the other. A QB who can run is not a running QB. Steve Young could run, but he was not a running QB. When he calmed down and started playing from the pocket is when he became great.

Threw his first interception of the year today.

Thank god for Romo. If it wasn't for him denver probably would have lost.

Heh, he also set a new record for the most TDs ever thrown in the first 5 games of a season.

And that playaction run fake into the endzone? Magnifique.

In Sunday's thrilling 51-48 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, Peyton Manning passed Dan Marino to move into second place on the all-time passing yards list. With 61,371 yards, Manning still has some work to do before eclipsing Brett Favre's NFL-record 71, 838 yards passing.

If championships define greatness almost everyone failed at the game. You are so negative.

Romo's not to blame for Dallas losing that game. Blame the Dallas defense. Romo isn't at fault for Dalllas having no pass rush all game, resulting in zero sacks. Did Peyton even get hit once? Peyton had an INT in the same game, and that following drive resulted in a Dallas touchdown. Would have it been Peyton's fault if the Cowboys ended up winning?

Romo played awesome but he played into the "the narrative" that he blows it when the pressure is there at a critical time. You can't break "the narrative" because people will always remember he couldn't put down the snap on that field goal attempt as they forget he drove the ball down 80 yards.

Not saying Romo is a top 5 QB but he is pretty good and the Cowboys can win a Super Bowl with a good team around him.

Yesterday's games were further proof why Brady should not even be mentioned as one of the greatest. He has been truly mediocre all year and yesterday he was plain awful.

Manning on the other hand, WOW! Best of all time indeed!!!!

That's the defense's fault for constantly leaving guys open by 10 yards and then missing tackles and letting them all run for another 20 yards after the catch.

Peyton played really well and he had a few deep plays early in the game that were taken away by some kind of fuckery like a holding call or Decker fumbling. I'll take 20tds + 1 rushing td to 1int.

Peyton is top 5 for sure.

My personal favorite was always Jim Kelly. He was one of the last QBs to run a no huddle offense and essentially call his plays. Manning comes close to that kind of management.

edit - best qb ever is Jeff George

I'm a Bronco fan and I was saying thank you to Romo for throwing that int which led to the win. Romo had an awesome game but something always happens when the pressure is on him.

As good as Romo is, he threw that int at the worst possible time. While Peyton did have an interception, which led to a TD with a 2 point conversion, the timing of the interception that Romo threw pretty much means that it was his fault for losing the game in some peoples eyes.

He has incredibly amateur rookie receivers.

But last game he was just bad.

I knew that excuse was going to come up! Manning has done just fine, regardless of who his receivers have been. And let's not forget, Amendola was back this week. Brady should have gone off with such a skilled receiver, right??

Oh no, but Gronk is still out. When he comes back Brady will have more yards and tds than any other qb in the league in the second half of the season. Right?
