But here are some of the things the newer designers do that stand out to me.

-Very basic shapes form the monsters.
200px-082Magneton.png
the very definition of basic

-Minimal details in muscular structure on more formed monsters.

Not sure what you mean by more formed, but this guy is humanoid and no visible muscles
-Odd or abstract color combinations.
260px-055Golduck.png
evolves from a yellow duck. Changes to blue, why?

-Being very loosely based on an animal with some designs while being heavily based on animals in other situations within the same gen - which is inconsistent in design.

in the very same gen as

- Relying heavily on a concept itself rather than implementing it into the monster. As in the monster precedes the concept, it should be vice versa really.

Nothing about this pokemon makes sense. Kanghaskan are born with baby kanghaskans already in their pouch, yet they're all female, and the babies never grow. Instead it entirely relies on the concept of a mother protecting its child.

All the pokemon listed violate at least one or more of those rules. And here's the thing... I LIKE all these pokemon. I love them even. But they fall victim to the same traps and shortcomings when you actually apply the critical microscope you put on the other gens. And that's not to say the newer gens don't have bad pokemon, but the cry that they are somehow not trying as hard, or fall short of these weird standards just doesn't make any sense to me.

Rockman is just a super genwunner, just ignore him.

Sinnoh > Kanto > Hoenn > Johto >>>> Unova imo. (I know, I am a bit late to the party).

I'll really never understand people who call Unova the worst region. I mean, there might not have been as much background or lore as Sinnoh, but Unova had great locales and backdrops, good Pokemon distribution, and a very fun story.

Again Hoenn probably sucked the most.

Why not have a game where we can venture thorugh all the lands?

I also didn't like how Hoenn had NO connections to the old games what so ever...one of the BEST things about Gold and Silver was being a whole new land yet still having a connection to the old.

Also I hated when they took day and night away from Hoenn.

Didnt rse take place at the same time as rby?

I wouldn't call it the worse, just my least favorite by a huge margin. There is no worse region/game in Pokémon. Personally, I didn't like the "only new Pokémon available" thing (the excessive amount of new Pokémon pissed me off a bit as well), the linearity of the region and the majority of the cities were extremely uninteresting (with horrible music themes as well, like Nimbasa's). Yes, the story was good, but I thought it was a bit... off. I prefer the 'lore-based' story of Gen IV or the goofy story of Gen III over the "serious" story of Gen V.

I love Unova's music....

I only really liked the battle musics. Actually, Unova had the best battle musics to me... sadly everything else was "meh", so it is my least favorite region/generation/etc.

Edit: Not really, Hoenn battle musics with trumpets were far better than Unova's. :B

Hoenn was by far the least good region. Note how I say "least good" and not "worst." :P Something has to be at the bottom, and that's definitely Hoenn for me. The entire third generation seemed like a step backwards from generation 2, but at least it only got better from there.

When they remake R/S they better use real trumpets in the music.

Yeah, I disliked the limitation to just new pokemon. I could see where they were going with it, but it led to annoying situations where you fought trainer upon trainer with those GODAWFUL MONKEYS. The fact that the region was so incredibly linear, an an enormous chunk of it was reserved for the post-game didn't help matters. Other bizarre choices like the nigh-worthless Black City/White Forest locale, filler bridges, and giant Unova Link smack dab in the middle had me scratching my head in confusion.

B2W2 did a lot to fix Unova's map, but not enough to rate it as anything but decent.

If we do get Hoenn remakes I hope they do something to resolve the water traversal issue, and overuse of trumpets in the score.

I've never even experienced Unova. Played every game except for the B&W series. A shame, because they look cool and I've heard some good stuff about the story.

That villain (Ghetsis) looks amazing as well. I've listened to his battle theme from B2/W2 and that really was something.

You should listen to the Iris theme from BW2. It's... fabulous!

EDIT What is happening!? What is that? Mega Tyranitar??

Great games. Very fun. If you have Pokemon from other games, you'll need to transfer to Gen VI.

So I'm trying to get back into pokemon, Last entry in the series I fully played was Crstal.

I want to catch all 649 pokemon and experience as many stories as possible. Currently playing HG, Next up I plan to play Platinum and then Black and Black 2 and then trade everything up to Black 2 and fill in the remaining Pokedex.

Few questions

Anway to batch trade up to B2?, the idea of catching hundreds of useless pokemon to trade sounds nightmareish.

Is this the optimal way to A. Complete a living pokedex and B. Experience as much of the story as possible?

So I for months was under the assumption this game comes out second week in October( I also assumed it was the Tuesday like most every game) but it really releases on Saturday?

Transferring from Gen 4 to 5 involves sending over pokemon 6 at a time, so that alleviates some of the workload. But, amazingly, we don't have a batch trade option. Hopefully they include that in the PokeTransporter.

... Does Tyranitar really need a mega evolution? Isn't it already mega enough?!

You could say the same about Mewtwo, Garchomp, etc.

Which ate awesome because now they sound like early series anime battles.

Yeah, I am not complaining, but they could have left electric guitars to Gen VII and used violins in Gen VI. After trumpets in Gen III, drums in Gen IV and techno shit in Gen V, violins would have been wonderful.
