Has there been any gaffers who came back from a permban?

I don't think this has ever happened? Probably in the old days of gaf (1999-2003), but I don't think this has ever happened in recent history. I think that that this only happened once because of a ban bet; and it was Bjork with his legendary hotdog contest ban bet.

Maybe MAF back in the days but i think those bans were self-imposed but it's not really the same thing. Has there ever been a case of someone getting his perm ban reversed by contacting support?

Any gafstorian remembers?

edit: It would be kinda neat to have some sort of encyclopedia of GAF with all the old stories, facts and infos about things that happened saved somewhere. I even once considered installing a wiki server but i dont think Evilore approves of 'gaf derivatives' and I don't want to get in troubles. The forum is starting to get old now, and we are losing 'history'.

edit: Would admins and mods be interested in explaining the perm banning process? From what I have heard a long time ago, mods vote for perms suggestions, and Evillore approves them.

I remember Stump un-did a perm recently for the guy that makes a compilation post of all the recommendation threads on gaming side.

A mod also said that some people eventually come back but change their posting habits so the mods just leave them be.

Does GAF hand out non-permabans (temporary bans that aren't permanent)? I was under the impression GAF works on a one-strike policy.

For Juniors, it is one mistake. If you are past that, it might be more than one chances, depending on how seriously you went against the posting rules.

I got a week ban for asking for a stream of an NBA game once, and a thirty day for walking into a Persona 3 thread and being an asshole. Both were fair.

I only know of one poster recently who was Un-Permabanned. He didn't really deserve it either and kind of got caught up in what was happening.

Yeah I got permed as a junior in like 2000 or 2001. Shit was so heinous.

There must have been a server fire or something cause I just reapplied using the same username and email like a year later and got in.

I'm pretty sure a ton of banned members snuck back in in 2004 too.

How does that even work?

Write a convincing apologetic email, go into some IRCs?

Mods should just give Crushed his old username back (if he wants it). Everyone and their mother agrees that that was a really dumb perm by Amir0x.
