Of course with later knowledge you know this is fake since characters in the same series are not lined up.
Is it just me or does Sonic's spot dodge look pretty long? Most spot dodges seem pretty instant but his has this long drawn out animation that makes it seem like its an actual special move or something, not only that its missing that constant white flash on the character's body that happens when you dodge.
I remember seeing this picture and hoping it was real just because of Bomberman, plus it looked very convincing.
Only character that was missing was Wolf because I think nobody had found a way to unlock him, thus not knowing he was a character.

With an L of unique franchise characters.
The only char out of place is Game & Watch ... but then again he is 2d so being out of place is kinda his deal =P

Man Mr. game & watch is the people's champ, everyone loves him and the ones who dont people dont like.
It makes more sense to think of it as the RPG column -- or the RPG group combined with the Pokémon column next to it.

Maybe at the time of Brawl's release yeah, but even then there was just a new Fire Emblem released a few months before Brawl. Nowadays, they're both far from ignored.

I have been looking at the trailer, and I don't see the L-cancel. Maybe I was mistaken, or maybe I suck at using my peepers.

Honestly I think I preferred how SSB64 listed characters; having every franchise listed from when their first game came out and then within that franchise when each character first appeared. How Melee did things was a bit tacky having the 'clones' literally hang off the characters they were based on, while I found it weird how Brawl's roster would always shift around making everybody look randomly placed until you had all 35 characters unlocked.
Also yeah, that FE/Mother column is obviously for RPG's-that-aren't-Pokemon; FE was far from Japan-only by the time Brawl came out, and at the very least Ness wasn't either. It's pedantic as all get out, but part of me feels Falcon and Ness should have been part of the top row to have all ten original franchises rep'd on top.

Sakurai is usually spot on with his design choices so I wouldn't worry. I think We'll get a Zelda closer to Brawl's but with brighter colors like Link. They're basically their own unique Smash versions now.

Never a leaked screenshot, but multiple images that were posted on the Dojo unintentionally confirmed that Lucario, Jigglypuff, and Ness would be in the game. It was quite a schmaltzy mishap on their part. Brahaha!

Going with the Pokemon Trainer example, I suppose The Legend of Zelda has already surpassed Mario as well.

Ya know I was surprised at the lack of conversation about there being alot more comboing in the sonic video, we saw hints of it when sakurai was showing off megaman's moves with the spiking, but with sonic, he seems to be a perfect character to show this off cause he hits soft but alot.
