Yo, glass rebel, you hating on fearow?

I agree with you about the starters tho

I love it how People seem to Ash is a loser because he keeps losing the league.

May I remind you all that he saved the world and befriended many legendary many times.
Then he should become a researcher or a priest or something. If he actually wants to be a Pokemon Master he should evolve his damn Pokemon. And probably catch a few more while he's at it.

Gen ll was the most uninspired. A mouse/badger with fire on it's back/neck! A plant! An alligator that spits water!

Totally inspired compared to a turtle with an island on it's back, a steel winged emperor penguin, and a kickass monkey warrior with flaming hair. Totally.
Typhlosion is Fire instead of Fire/Fighting. Checkmate.

Fire monkey. Turtle plant. Penguin.

You can break apart any Pokemon like that duder.

every gen has a special place in my heart except V, dunno why but I wasnt charmed by it.

Some really neat designs in there like my man Shiftry or Walrein but overall Gen III pokés are ass.

Lol at Gen lll legionaries being bad. When you have a fucking CAT FETUS in Gen l and a flaming rubber chicken in GEN ll.

Sceptile also shits on Venasaur.

Gen l had Barney as it's Pseudo too.

Feraligatr doesn't spit. It splits your neck in two.

Gen II, barring the crocodile inspired pokemon, kind of had new creatures. It's not obvious what the other two are. They are only pokemon. Gen four is just real world creatures.

I played the entire series in order of release when they released. Pokemon Red on OG GAMEBOY.

Generation III is still my favorite. It had the best region, and and a lot of awesome pokemon. Gen II is the only thing that rivals the pokemon designs in Generation III.

Generation IV and V were the worse (IV more so than V).

Same in playing them all in order. Always felt that Gen 3 was a big drop off in basically everything, and its been getting better and better since that drop off.

I don't necessarily agree that something like kanto region doesn't hold up because to me all the main games have been the same since kanto: get eight badges and within that there's an "insert team arc". The only substantial difference in terms of the main game, is that there is greater reliance on these sub-plots. You may like the variety as opposed to the other but honestly they all feel the same regardless, in terms of main games and regions

I don't know the math to pull up the average. (cause I'm dumb)

Except it doesn't work that way. Infernape maybe, but other two aren't just a penguin or a turtle plant. Feraligatr is an alligator. That's all. Meganium is a shitty plant. That's all.

TIL that Meganium is literally a plant, dirt and all.

Yeah, replaying HGSS was a trip for me. I realized that Gen 2 pokemon were, on the whole, exceedingly dull. If it wasn't a weak concept, it was a good concept executed poorly. Compound that with the awful level curve and available wild pokemon, and it really soured my memories of the generation.

What made matters worse is that I was bouncing between Platinum and HGSS, and the latter was not holding up at all. When I saw someone rank Gen 2 over 4 for things like story and characters, I just rolled my eyes. The narrative in the early games is so thin and poorly done, they might as well remove it (and not create a half-assed patch like in HGSS).

Honestly, this reminds me of the discussions on what constitutes a good Team. Some people have a death-grip on the idea that the villains should be dressed realistically and have real-world goals. While others prefer more flair and spectacle.

See,,, this is what happens when the leakers abandon us and stop giving us spoilers.
The thread deteriorates into gen bashing and anarchy.

<shakes fist at irresponsible leakers>

I'd actually describe Meganium as a dinosaur flower thing. And yeah, Typhlosion is a badger with a fire back, and Feraligatr is a blue alligator. There's not much to it.

Meganium is a sauropod with a petal frill and stamens for antenna, not just a plant

Similarly Torterra is a cross between a world turtle and an ankylosaurus

Kanto doesn't hold up because it's goddamn slow.

After BW I don't want to go back to the previous battle systems.

The only thing I would argue are the sprite from Gen 1 are so amazing, in there grotesqueness.

Dem them haters of Gen 3 T.T

Anyways I shall rate the games using the above mentioned scale. I've been playing since the release of Yellow version (and have had Red/Blue, Gold/Silver, Crystal, Ruby, Diamond, and White 1/2).

4 would be a throwaway gen completely were it not for HG/SS <3

Look at this Dex description for Feraligatr.

When it bites with its massive and powerful jaws, it shakes its head and savagely tears its victim up.

How is that not the most badass water starter ever.

A lot of useless Pokemon, sure. But aesthetic designs? They're pretty fucking great. None too busy, and it's got some lovely colour schemes. No weird limbs or stringy arms or extraneous stripes. Gen II had very memorable and cute designs.

Only few have good designs personally. Tyrannitar, Ledian, Houndour line, Suicune, and Lugia are standouts. The rest felt uninspired (Miltank) or bad (Ho-Oh).

The BW legendaries were so terrible that I'm perfectly fine with the birds.

Genesect being bad is a blasphemy and should be shot upon being seen.

I almost forgot your dad was a gym leader in gen III. There was something weird about him though. Like him and the mom were divorced or something. He was really distant to the player too, just said some stuff like "you are my child, now battle me with all your strength".

When you beat him, he was all like "... I... I can't... I can't believe it. <Player>... I lost to <player>? But rules are rules! Here, take this.". Probably thought his son was weak or sumthin'.

Opinions how do they work

Ew you like pokemon I dont like? I dont like that pokemon! Its bad. Pokemon I like is good though.
