Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

combining characters into one is stupid, really

it only works with ice climbers and pokemon trainer

god im reminded of smash flash where kirby and metaknight were 2-in-1 characters... made no sense at all

I don't imagine it being like Ice Climbers. In DKCR DK and Diddy can act as one single unit when Diddy is on DK's back, and they can use moves I think would be really easy to translate into Smash.

I also think that both kongs have more charm together than by temselves.

the f-zero franchise doesn't even exist anymore

yet we still get captain falcon in every smash game

F-Zero DID exist when he was originally included and at this point he's a Smash staple. I'd bet more people have played Falcon in Smash then the entire F-Zero franchise has sold lifetime.

King K Rool's last appearance in a game was Mario Super Sluggers which released the same years as Brawl 2008. His last appearance in actual Donkey Kong games were 07's Jungle Climber and Barrel Blast.

Anything is possible, but considering King K Rool was forgotten about when the Donkey Kong Country series relaunched and with the newest game Tropical Freeze giving a big focus on Dixie Kong... yeah. If Donkey Kong gets a 3rd rep it'd like be Dixie over K Rool.

Captain falcon is a smash vet and was added during a time where he was some what relivant.

K rool ( sorry if this gets offense) blandly designed enemy by a not so great dev that nintendo has no ties to anymore. And has been replaced. You lucky dude got a trophy.

K. Rool and a bunch of other Kremlins were in the DK racing game. I don't know why Jungle Beat and Returns chose to have new enemies but I think it's too soon to say the Kremlin Krew is totally out of the series

Yeah, I think Dixie is the DK series' hope for a third rep. It helps that she was considered for Brawl. I just don't expect K Rool because the Kremlings no longer seem to be a big part of DK any more.

I don't get why people expect King K Rool to ever represent the DK franchise at this point. Unless there is a surprise twist in Tropical Freeze the franchise has clearly moved on without his character.

Yeah, if anything it'll be Dixie Kong.

also, did Bass ever actually show up in the Battle Network games?

I think "relevance" is something which you can never really use to gauge how much a character will be in the roster. If Smash went off only the most recent appearances of characters and what's hot with the whole roster, we wouldn't be seeing throwbacks like G&W or Ice Climbers, who have made their mark in Smash and represent important parts of Nintendo history.

While I do think it's sad we haven't seen K.Rool for a while, I don't think it's too late to count him out, I'm sure he'll appear again. Whether that's as a playable character in a Smash game remains to be seen. It really depends if Sakurai and crew think he'd be an interesting character to play as, and is popular enough despite having no real recent starring roles.

With all that being said, I am shocked to see a Lost World stage being included for Sonic, since both games are still due to be released. As far as I'm aware, last time around we mostly had games being represented that had been released before Brawl's release, Mario being represented by the Gamecube era, etc.

I still think that that Lost World "stage" that was shown is a Adventure mode stage.

I'd hate if Diddy got reworked to be the diddy kong and dixie kong partner thing as seen from the Brawl data. at least have dixie be in it as a separate character

how would Sakurai make her recovery work? her hair is godly and she can return to the stage 24/7

Come to think of it. I've found it odd that only Sonic as shown in the footage... as if it's just a single player level?

In fact, the camera was only following him... Has there ever been trailer footage of the camera following one specific character in a known versus mode stage?

Minor (name only) XY Starter Spoilers.

So, if they end up including the Kalos Trainer + Starters in Smash 4, which combination would you want?

Chespin, Braixen,
Greninja

or

Fennekin, Frogadier,
Chesnaught

or

Froakie, Quilladin,
Delphox

Personally I think the first combination would offer the coolest variety in game-play.

I think I need to take a break from all this smash stuff, having too many damn dreams of it, this time shulk, wario, pac-man and Dr.Mario being revealed with a paper mario stage :_

I used to have Smash Bros 4's reveal trailer dreams before the game was officially announced at E3

One of them had Data from Mega Man Legends as the newcomer

i dont get it

I most definitely agree. I'm more tired of hearing the word "relevant" used than I am even the wasted slot argument. It's really odd how this notion became so engrained in the community, and I haven't the slightest what could've brought it about. My best bet is that when Snake was announced, as the first 3rd party, people began to debate the relevance of 3rd party characters as a means of basically saying "Please stop asking for Goku and Naruto and Sora."

But I really have no idea at all. It's such an awkward, nebulous term. I mean, consider Brawl: Solid Snake, Red, and R.O.B. got in. Snake Eater 3D hadn't been out yet, Gen III remakes were old already, and nobody'd even seen an R.O.B. in years. Snake fits in marvelously with Smash's cast, being a fairly goofy guy, Red is iconic, and R.O.B. is historic, but then, lumping "special request" "iconic" and "historic" under the same umbrella is my point. It's a large, unwieldy, and poorly quantifiable term people came up with as a means of trying to see the future.

same for me, it was happening a few weeks before E3 and up to it, haha.

I don't want Dixie Kong.

Two DK reps is enough, it'd feel like a slot being wasted like Toon Link.

In the very first trailer there is a scene of Mario jumping really high in a big area that looks like its a single player stage.

If I have a dream about video games, it will always be dreams of playing games that I anticipate greatly. Lately its been Pokemon. Soon it will be Ace Attorney.

I rarely remember my dreams. :[

Last one I can remember that was video game related was Phoenix Wright coming out of nowhere to pick me up from a long doctor's appointment. Agh

I dream about video games, manga, anime, and neogaf all the time. I've had smash dreams before can't think of anything special off the top of my head outside of dreaming out playing brawl before it came out.

By that reasoning, Animal Crossing should have two more characters and Mii's should be playable too.

They should be, and probably will be.

I obviously can't speak for everyone, but this is exactly what I expect. It would be crazy for Retro to ignore the fans' pleas for K. Rool, and unless Miyamot put his foot down (which would be... dumb, even for him) I would practically bet money on him showing up in TF.

220px-William_Howard_Taft_as_Chief_Justice_SCOTUS.jpg

William Howard Taft (September 15, 1857 – March 8, 1930) was the 27th President of the United States (1909–1913) and later the tenth Chief Justice of the United States (1921–1930). He is the only person to have served in both of these offices.

Before becoming President, Taft, a Republican, was appointed to serve on the Superior Court of Cincinnati in 1887. In 1890, Taft was appointed Solicitor General of the United States and in 1891 a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. In 1900, President William McKinley appointed Taft Governor-General of the Philippines. In 1904, President Theodore Roosevelt appointed Taft Secretary of War in an effort to groom Taft, then his close political ally, into his handpicked presidential successor. Taft assumed a prominent role in problem solving, assuming on some occasions the role of acting Secretary of State, while declining repeated offers from Roosevelt to serve on the Supreme Court.

Riding a wave of popular support for fellow Republican Roosevelt, Taft won an easy victory in his 1908 bid for the presidency. In his only term, Taft's domestic agenda emphasized trust-busting, civil service reform, strengthening the Interstate Commerce Commission, improving the performance of the postal service, and passage of the Sixteenth Amendment. Abroad, Taft sought to further the economic development of nations in Latin America and Asia through "Dollar Diplomacy", and showed decisiveness and restraint in response to revolution in Mexico. The task-oriented Taft was oblivious to the political ramifications of his decisions, often alienated his own key constituencies, and was overwhelmingly defeated in his bid for a second term in the presidential election of 1912. In surveys of presidential scholars, Taft is usually ranked near the middle of lists of all American Presidents.

After leaving office, Taft spent his time in academia, arbitration, and the pursuit of world peace through his self-founded League to Enforce Peace. In 1921, after the First World War, President Warren G. Harding appointed Taft Chief Justice of the United States. He served in this capacity until shortly before his death in 1930.

William Howard Taft would be a good character for sure, but I think Theodore Roosevelt is more deserving of the spot.

Teddy's final smash could be "Panama Canal" in which he instigates rebellion in Panama and then reaps in the wads of cash as all of Europe and South America fails to stop him from doing the fuck he wants.
