The implication is that the mega stones are exclusive to the games they aren't in. We don't have a true confirmation yet, though.

How quick can you get Eevee and evolve it into Sylveon? I'm thinking of using it as my resident fairy but if it comes in WAY after Flabebe I will not get it.

Just saw the scans...
Mega Tyranitar looks incredible. The "wings," the red belly instead of blue, etc -- just incredible.
And Mega Aggron... WOW! So beautiful. Let's take a moment to appreciate what's happened here:
1) You start with Aggron, who is already one of the best designs in all of Pokemon. And thanks to Mega Evolutions, you don't lose that excellent design when you evolve, since it reverts back afterwards.
2) You now have access to Mega Aggron, transformable the same turn you attack, dropping his Rock-type so he no longer has any 4X weakness. In addition, he gains FILTER, an ability that reduces damage sustained from super-effective attacks. So the few moves that are super-effective against his pure Steel-type are now LESS effective than before.
3) All of this, along with the expected boost in stats elevating him to near-legendary status.
4) He still has one of the best designs in Mega form. His samurai-like helmet flips, he gains gauntlets and blades on his wrists and shoulders, and his armor expands into an egg-like fortification. It appears from the screenshots he has two stances, a bipedal stance and a stance on all fours. I doubt there's any gameplay change as a result, but it sure looks cool!

I'm not honestly sure what triggered the evolution, could well have just been a regular level up in the mid-20s but I'd spent quite a lot of time in Pokemon Amie so it had max happiness as well.
Yeah, ditched it asap. I hate all the final evos, especially Delphox as it ruined Braixen which was rapidly becoming one of my favourites.

No he would have kept on resetting the game at the point where you choose your starter until it generated a shiny.

The Pokemon selection in this game keeps surprising me. I feel like I've seen everything on a route and then up pops a Nincada out of nowhere. Loving this!
I think that was just a rumor. Although I know a want a Flabebe with a cool flower pattern.

I'm new to this.. is that really how its done? Reset your game over and over until you get a shiny starter in the beginning of the game??
That's one possible way, at least. Most people will be content to trade and chain breed for the Masuda method

That's probably going to be plenty for most people. With over 700 Pokémon now (obviously not all of them appear in the wild in XY), I think having a diverse selection will be enough for most people. A lot of Pokémon from previous generations probably aren't very well known by all but the most hardcore and will come across as plenty new, especially with the transition to 3D models.

My 3DS is Japanese so I have to import. I hoped CDJapan would ship a little early but it's looking like they won't, so I'll be lucky to have it by Tuesday or Wednesday.

You mega evolve before anybody moves so I don't see the point in Protect in Singles (assuming that you were trying to get off a safe mega evolution). I'd rather just go for the offensive right away.

You can breed starters if you have a female, but yes, if you want a shiny starter at the beginning of the game, you reset over and over. Because it uses RNG, you could get it the first reset, or the 19000th.
I started up a new game on Pokemon Ruby years ago and got a shiny Treecko. I wasn't even trying to get a shiny.

Technically, it's the opposite of what you want, but at least with this you should be able to figure it out yourself.

Too bad his stab sucks
steel is more viable this gen sure, but losing the power of stab head smash/stone edge is gonna hurt his possibilities in the metagame :/

Huh, according to Bulbapedia's IRC channel, the street date has broken in Canada. Anyone know if that's across the board for all retailers, or did a few people manage to buy it early at a few stores? Seriously considering making a side-trip on the way home... I can spend eShop credit on something else.
