Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | October 2013 | Ver 2000, Batman and some Angry Birds

Just wanted to drop by with malicious rebirth impressions, so far done 3 battles and I'm really enjoying it. Framerate is holding well enough so far, tweaked camera a tiny bit (4 speed, up and down reverse) and spent a little time reading the tips (always available while you play unless disablef) and I was good to go. Not heavy on story so far, which is perfect for me and technically I'm pretty impressed.
Very happy here, will replay once I beat the game too. Going back to playing it.

If some of the touchscreen buttons seem like they are giving you trouble to begin with, note they trigger after releasing your thumb, not pressing.. Maybe it's for battle reasons or something I'm still too fresh with it, not played the ps3 version before either. I think it's incase people complaint about accidentally triggering things.

Shadows are nice. Like others have said as well, your dude is fast! Quite a few jaggies visible in larger levels when you are going fast as there is some sort of speed haziness effect. Just a warning if that stuff makes you puke. Visually I think it looks pretty nice though, better than gravity rush for example.

If you are big on an experience and story and polish over game play then I think people may not be as pleased with it. I really really like just flying around fast with the wings and trying to pop some enemies.

Is there a way to tell how much damage you've taken before attempting to heal? Some sort of visual representation?

Just realised the d-pad is quite important once you unlock stuff, thanks manual. Still, the hp thing?

I'm seriously in love with P4G. I don't know, but this game has a bro feeling that somewhat P3 lacked. They are a bunch of friends first and act a lot more like normal teenagers. I wouldn't say if it's better or worse, but it really has a different feeling.

That's why P4> P3. In P4 everyone is connected by a true friendship, they got through a lot of shit together and it shows. P3 is more like colleagues from work, some more close to you, and some far away, but is still work at the end of the day.

Spirit vessel will degrade and begin to show damage... you might be missing limbs and stuff as you float around.

Dang, that Boss Demon on Muramasa Rebirth (Momohime's story) was giving me a hard time. It kept telling me to hide behind the rocks, but even when I would he'd still damage me badly.

Don't forget the colors. I loved P4's colorful world! Menus and everything. Of course this is just my personal preference. I just really liked the colors and the way it was presented lol

With that one, when he's preparing the attack, you should run to the opposite side of the screen and hide behind the piles, usually the one on the edge of the screen if you can, just killing the little imp type demons as they come on screen.

The idea, I think, is that he knows you're there and hiding, but he generally punches the piles he's near, so you don't have to worry about him attacking you if he's off screen (99% of the time in my experience). There is a cue for when you can rush back toward him and start attacking too, but I forget what it is at the moment.

The next two bosses are worse, I think. :)

I'll have to really take note of all this when I have to tackle Fury Mode. I'm really enjoying this game, and I hope I can platinum it. It has reasonable trophies.

Momohime deserves better than this...

If you do tackle Fury mode, please post tips in here.
I did everything BUT Fury mode because some of the bosses are so ridiculous and you start over at level 1 with no swords... so it's pretty tough to get anywhere, especially on a lot of the projectile heavy bosses, I think.

I don't know if i could call it "better", it's actually different. In P3 some characters have grudges against others
like Yukari with Mitsuru, for example
, so it's kind of normal. But yes, there are some characters that are somewhat a burden, like the kid whose name i don't remember.

And gameplay wise (in the real world) P4 is a vast improvement. You have a lot of things to do (like cooking, reading books, working at home and other stuff) that make it less repetitive.

And poor Nanako :(. That poor child breaks my heart everytime i see her watching TV / waiting the dumbass he has as a father. I wanted to throw my Vita to the wall when
the same day you get her social link you can choose between "Come with us / Just go and watch the TV"

I think that'd be a great way for me to contribute to VitaGAF for the first time. So far y'all only have helped me out. I'd love to do something for y'all for once.

Someone who posts in here occasionally got the platinum and put a screenshot of it in here... I can't remember who that was, or I would harass them for tips too.

I could swear someone implied that you kept all your weapons from your other playthrough and thus fury mode wasn't bad because you had powerful weapons that could kill the bosses quickly, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Soon as I beat P4G (I think I'm in the final dungeon), gonna get Velocity Ultra and SSD Delta. Though I'm kind of tempted to wait for them to show up on PS+ NA... seems like there might be a decent chance for that?

Velocity Ultra, maybe.
It was free on PS+ day one in EU.
Part of the reason I tried to win a code somewhere (Thanks PSNStores!) instead of buying it.

I don't recall all the details of my fights with that boss, but I remember that rolling to avoid his punches was essential. Once I got the hang of that move alone fighting him became a piece of cake. The rest is just staying as far away from him when you are not attacking him.

Ah, and also I remember using the triple air dash to get away from him after jumps.

Later on my game I used that level (the underworld) and boss to level up like crazy :)

Hope that helps. It is a great game once you start getting more powerful swords and you learn all the combat moves.

Ah thank you, will look out for it.

Shame there are only a few stages but it's still very fun for me flying about. Also I'm not seeing the jaggies on every level, the courtyard one was what I was playing when I noticed them. It's a nice looking game.

It hurt seeing our former Vitakittens hating on poor Vita

;_;

I think they will be there soon.

but hey..since you have an NA account go and buy Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure it's fantastic.

The Vita 2000's lcd screen look even worse than what I thought. pretty damn sad espercislly that Sony now have Triluminos (Xperia Ultra/Z1) which are pretty damn good yet Vita 2000 got a completely shitty lcd screen with permanent piss-filter.

I remember you being in love with the nVidia Shield over the Vita, does that have an OLED screen too?

Any good case recommendations? Not for travelling, but just to protect the screen from dust etc when it's just laying around.

PCH-2000 on top, OG bottom.

There is considerable ghosting on the screen of the LCD screen (see that the afterimage is stuck at least 3 frames later). The LCD have a faster refresh rate, though,
.

They only show 4-5 frames, did they really HAVE to pick frames with screentearing?

This picture is interesting (from the 4gamer article)

The color reproduction isn't that far off (considering same re), only with the light blue and green that shows the disavantages of the LCD screen (a little washed out).

But there is ghosting on that Killzone gif, that scared the shit out of me. #teamOLED for life.
this picture is pointless since almost all of you are watching it on an lcd monitor to begin with...
Maybe if you have a well calibrated 10 bit color IPS panel or a crt monitor then you could draw a meaningful conclusion from it.

it uses an IPS screen and while it's higher res with more ppi than Vita oled (and better than most normal lcd you got like on 3DS or other tablets )I think the oled screen on Vita is way better, I wont be upset if Sony replaced oled with decent lcd screen, but the one in Vita 2000 look really bad.

I think you need to see the Vita 2000 screen before you can judge. IPS is not ideal for gaming, higher response time.

Surely Carl was being sarcastic?

While it's been this way for a while now, the lack of sound when swiping the lock screen is really messing with my mind. I always think that I have the volume turned down or muted.

Just picked up Dragon's Crown today, first big vita title I've purchased. Would love to get into mp with people once I get further in. My psn is QuasarJones. Looking forward to digging into it.

Yes and that's why it sucks that the vita revision no longer uses oled...

With lcd you need to choose:
TN: awful viewing angle, poor motion resolution (response time), poor contrast, poor colors, ghosting, color banding in 6 bit panels and possible backlight bleed and the screen brightness is often not uniform especially on larger panels (darker in the middle with led backlight)

IPS : decent viewing angle, very poor motion resolution, poor contrast, good colors, ghosting, color banding in low end 6 bit panels

There's always big compromises no matter which one you choose, and no matter which one you get the motion blur will always be there, as will black crush and poor contrast.

oled isn't perfect but at least it fixes the motion resolution problem (which is as good as on a crt) and the contrast problem, as well as having ok viewing angles (lose brightness but not color accuracy)

There is absolutely no need to compromise with a small screen (like the 5" vita one)since oled is an option there
as a bonus the vita screen doesn't use that awful pentile configuration that most oled panel phones use...

The only reason for sony to go go lcd is greed, raise their bottom line when selling vitas at the cost of the consumer, no amount of marketing damage control or penguin videos will change that.

People on pc are spending many hundreds of euros on 120 hz panels with lightboost and dual gpus that can maintain the 120 hz needed for the lightboost to be effective, then deal with the extra frame of input lag from using sli and the 60 hz flicker from backlight strobing.
All that just as a bandaid hack to fix the poor response times of lcd panels... And why? because oled isn't an option as there are no affordable oled monitors

Busy trying to get Borderlands, and probably that spiderman out. Everyone asked for these games!
Back when Randy Pitchford started making noises about wanting help from Sony to get Borderlands on the Vita, there was in fact a fair bit of bile directed at Sony her on GAF for not making it happen, how they were incompetent and didn't care about the Vita etc.. So, yes, people did ask for it.

Hey is that amazing spider man for the Vita still around?
Still an unconfirmed rumor at this point AFAIK.

I'd like to know this as well.

Also: do we have conformation of SS:Delta coming to the west? If so, when?

I want FFX/X2 in NA. Never played them back when they released, gladly will give them a go on Vita.

Still around on amazon france

Best Buy.com still lists The Amazing Spiderman for Vita. I suspect it's only coming out due to a contractual obligation ("release on all viable platforms") or something, so Activision isn't really acknowledging it.

People were expecting it earlier than 2014. Pitchford should've started begging Sony for it earlier.

This was before the third party production group was formed though. Having a team in place with experience negotiating these kinds of deals and established relationships with porting houses should enable them to move faster in the future.

Awesome, I sent you a PSN friend req. Maybe we can meet up during the beta sometime.

I'm in too - Storm-Iz-SiK, not sure if i'll be able to play though

What EU PS+ games do people recommend playing?

Currently playing through Persona 4, wouldn't mind finishing the MGS 2 platinum trophy, although grinding the dogtags for a second time will be a chore
