Making defense more viable would make battling much better. I'm disappointed that they didn't nerf Stealth Rock - I would do something like they disappear when you switch in a Ground Pokemon.

Exactly. I agree on both counts.

And to nerf hazards even further, I've always wondered if they should add a new move that does extra damage if you have hazards on your side of the field in addition to removing them. Call it something like "Spike Launcher".

Or something. This shit needs to get nerfed. :/

Alright, so we have (changed types in bold):

  22. *Mega Banette (???)

Gen 1: 10
Gen 2: 2
Gen 3: 7
Gen 4: 3

.

I don't know how to feel about Mega Tyranitar still having that glaring Fighting weakness.

Well, advantages Charizard Y has is that Drought makes it possible to use Solar Beam in one turn. With that, Charizard Y can take out a lot of Rock/Ground/Water Pokemon which can be a threat. It's also pretty cool to have another grass pokemon in your team if you have charizard y, so that pokemon can use solar beam in one turn too. If said Pokemon has Chlorophyll as its special ability, its speed stat gets doubled on top of having a Solar Beam that doesn't need charging. On top of all this, all your Fire attacks get stronger in strong sunlight, iirc.

Charizard X has the advantage of being Fire/Dragon. Better resistances I think. Especially the awful Rock weakness (x4) gets eliminated. Which also means that Stealth Rock isn't such a threat for it anymore. On top of that, it has an increased attack stat, which means you can make a nice mixed attacker out of it. But the disadvantage of a mixed attacker is that it's never going to shine in both departments. I'd have preferred a stronger special attack just like Charizard Y but we'll see what the stats are like.
I didn't even think of some of that, but yeah it makes me think Mega Charizard Y is the more useful typing regardless.

Meowstic is one of my favorite looking Pokemon ever. Quote my username, see if I care.

I doubt he has an attack stat as good as breloom.
And Breloom looks cooler imo:

Just look at the motherfucker.

Breloom shits all over Chesnaught. It is known.

Ugh. First thing that really pisses me off here.

There was NO NEED to nerf those special attacks. The game gravitates towards the Physical too much as it is :/

Earthquake better be 80BP now or something and nerf Close Combat to 100.

So I tried to see if a local Target would hook me up, and the clerk brought it out from the back, rang me up... And it indicated street date. No sale. No convincing. I'm hurt.

Blame Gen V. Way too focused on offense and glass cannons.

I still see people going back and forth with it. If it remained unchanged, GF seriously doesn't know how to balance. They mess with weather and the ultimate special moves but not SR? I'm speechless at the stupidity.

I mean according to the interview they went back and re-did the weakness chart from scratch and Bug and Grass still ended up being shitty, they screwed around with type's weaknesses that should have been left alone like Fighting and Dark. I just don't know sometimes.

Whoa, Hi Jump Kick is now High Jump Kick.

Oh man, Mega Medicham throwing out Fire Punches, Thunder Punches, Ice Punches, Psycho Cuts, Bullet Punches, shit son.

Someone over at vp said Close Combat is still 120.

This thread is going to fill up before the games even officially launch, haha.

Close combat has been spared.

I'm naming Medicham Kishin

ugh I need to think of cool names for my pokemon

I'm thinking Sebastian for my Froakie. It sounds kinda pretentious, but pretentious seems kind of fitting.

Doodled an idea for Mega Banette. Rather than go unzipped and reveal its true form, it goes full Super Voodoo Saiyan.

Just to clarify, the red dots (not the pins) are buttons. Two are sewn just below the eyes to resemble bifocals.

Looks like an evolution rather than a Mega Evolution.
Remember that Mega Evos are the same poke but reaching their potential, regular evos are basically different species.

Sweet idea. Banette as a voodoo doll, maybe the Mega version is something as simple as him with a tilted head and full of pins =). Banette design is amazing and it's one of the few physical Ghosts so Gamefreak has a high ceiling to reach. Too many ways the design and stats can go, too many ways to screw it up. But after the perfection that's Mega Aggron, I'm slightly hopeful =)

Looks pretty good, was a pokemon fan but missed out on the recent ds games. Whats preventing me from purchasing this game is the age factor. It still looks incredibly childish in every aspect, and have seemingly made no overtures to the older audience.

There's people for which this isn't a plus?

Yeah, well. Darmanitan is prob my favorite Pokemon ever but it got really unbalanced in Gen V. I was hoping they'd help special attackers a bit :/

But Instead they make this gen's Pseudo a Dragon Blissey.

Help special attackers how? They didn't really need any help.
