CBOAT's latest update

I'm too paranoid, maybe I'm doing the wrong thing but not Xbox One for me until the first "slim" or "elite" version is launched. This guy rarely lies.

CBOAT the GOAT!

Looking back at in general about all those rumors from 2012, especially about one of the two vendors running late and possibly aiming for 2014 release, its crazy that it was MS. I always assumed it was Sony until the rumors came out about the Feb 20 reveal. Sony really stepped up to the plate this gen. Threw their ego out the window, got input from devs all over and put the system in Cerny's hands with trust and they've created such a beastly platform.

I can back the boat up on a few of his points.

The story out of nearly every person I know in the industry, outside of Sony (as Sony employees wouldn't know this), is that the February reveal of the PS4 was a jab to the face of Microsoft.

They had no idea that Sony was as far along as they were. They had no idea that Sony had better specs. They had no idea (nor did we) that they were also behind in RAM. The stories are second hand from third party people who talk to people at MS but they all have said the same thing... Microsoft was coasting along looking at late 13 / early 14 release and thought they had the upper hand on Sony who was only now just starting to make money on the PS3 and would be behind them, most likely holiday '14.

This doesn't explain every misstep along the way, of course, a lot of them were just bad decisions from within. But if someone writes a book about this upcoming generation I think there will be some interesting stories from inside Microsoft about their reaction to the PS4 reveal.

Well, everyone could see that Microsoft got pretty much blindsided by Sony. Their moves after the february reveal are horrible and just reactionary. It's also clear that they were surprised by the 8GB of GDDR5, most of us didn't think one of the platform holders would go that way.

If they thought they were launching 1 year before Sony, they could have been confident that their DRM would have flyed by the consumer and could have speculated Sony may adapt to it. People are hungry for the next gen.

Sony has been very aggressive with their strategy and as a consumer I like it.

Everyone chooses what to believe. The past record doesn't mean reliable information all the time and he was proved wrong recently.

So, I'm sorry, but I prefer to be skeptical to leave believing in someone who does not always right, and I don't know the motivations.

Can anyone guarantee that cboat has no interest in harming the Xone?

His past record is what makes everything he leaks legit. If he was only right half of the time then everyone would take it with a grain of salt. Which there is plenty of in this thread. Him having an agenda toward MS is reaching a bit.

These xboners just hate things that say their precious xbox is going to get beat by a ps4. They won't believe anything unless it says otherwise. CBOAT is an insider he's not just some dude trying to make MS look bad.

I can't wait for both systems to be out. With their release dates so close, every gaming website is going to be doing comparisons. Poor xbone. Had MS used their time wisely and got the system out a year ago or even earlier this year, they could have had a nice head start and nothing to be compared to besides 7 year old consoles

He's a fucking saint. A fucking prophet in the belly of the beast. Those fucks. Those tremendous fucks are gonna try and bone us again, just so they can "keep up appearances" in their competition with Sony. I spit. *ptoo*

i gob alongside ye, matey. those fucking fucks.

We already knew the up-clock was causing problems? Could you provide us with a link to the articles that spoke of this please?

im commenting on the original post
after ryse it is obvious that 900p upscaled would be best for best performsnce on xbone and that it will continue to happen

I also see no proof that the upclock is causing problems
didn't cboat leak that they were going to downclock the xbone and instead they upclocked it???
maybe that was somebody else

That later point is fairly well known by now... but my point is that an engineer is looking at the last/highest possible figure.

This is true not for just engineers, but practically any kind of teams, be it marketing, etc.

When given a range of dates, teams would always go for the last figures. Not everything would be ready by then either, so a later date is always better than earlier.

More times than not, an earlier release date is a top-management mandate. Either due to a competitor response, or needing to coincide the launch with a sponsored event ( NFL, FIFA, etc ).

And the latter rarely happens, because if the event had to be coincided with a major event, the 'last date' would had been the event date in the first place.

So upscales, but not actually native 1080p.

Yes. When you look at what CBOAT has posted and then look at this tweet, it does appear to have correlation. He mentions two games and then talks about up-scaling. Perhaps this tweet gave us more insight than we originally thought?

Well yea if the people giving advice on which console to buy are doing so based only on which platform runs games at higher resolution then it would matter. I usually try to take my friends' tastes into account as that's why they're asking me and not somebody who doesn't know what they like. Most of the people on here probably aren't close-minded enough to evangelize for one platform for something so silly, and Microsoft isn't going to reach those people regardless of what they do anyways.

BS. Friends are going to want to play where there friends are. That's why early adopters are so important in this upcoming gen. Those early adopters are going to set the stage on where their friends will play and what console they will buy. It's why PS4 is looking so great coming out of the gate due to people making up their minds and persuading others. Once the launch dies down, those advice giving people (aka the kinds of people who post on here) will make the largest difference.

i dont see anything that we didnt really know before, right? Did people think that somehow xb1 would overcome those deficits in bandwith and gpu?

and Xbox is not going anywhere... if everything continues going horribly wrong for them, they will end up being 2nd biggest console on the market by reasonable % and still probably be profitable. Sony might end up selling 20%-30% more but thats about it.

The fact that no Xbox One versions of 3rd party games were shown at E3 & that Microsoft included an hardware upscaler inside Xbox One should be pretty telling to everyone.

I'm pretty sure the PS4 will have an upscaler chip in it too, it's sort of a necessity even if it's just for DVD playback etc.

Same guy of PS4 late october and XOne indies limited to 3GB ?

Ok...

I believe his prediction was October 28th, so the very end of October. Those winning the Taco Bell promotion are getting the system at least a week early, so the system will obviously be ready to ship the end of October/ first week of November...

That shows me it could have been launched the end of October. Plans could have changed after Cboat got his info, or he got bad info. Sure, he ended up being wrong, but it's not like he predicted it to release the first week of October and missed it by a month and a half.

Also you are conveniently leaving out everything he has gotten right, going all the way back to all his correct leaks BEFORE even the 360 launched.

If you feel he isn't right or simply blows incorrect smoke, then don't worry, you don't believe him so these rumors shouldn't impact the Xbox One at all. After all, he did miss those two predictions you carefully selected.

recently befallen are welcome in the steam thread. let volgarr and teleglitch wash over your filthy, green slimerings. lord gaben's finger always points north.

By the way, I hope you aren't fans of 1080p on Xbox One. When the hardware is out in the wild you will see what I meant about issues. Up-clocks too.

I'd interpret that as meaning 'another issue'.

Ahem... the possible RROD part deux thingie is new?

Wait, what did IBM do?

TL;DR version.

Sony, Toshiba and IBM entered a partnership to develop what became the Cell. Due to an oversight / fuckup / whatever, the contract allowed IBM to use the R&D of the Cell to produce its own variation of the Cell. When they did when MS came asking for a new CPU for their new Xbox. The Xenon CPU is kind of a Cell Jr.

The team at IBM who were working on the Xenon were doing it in secret, while working along side the team that was working on the Cell.

As you can imagine, when Sony found out about this, they weren't too pleased!

the problem is this isn't a rumor its just logic that anyone following the consoles should already know
weaker hardware leads to cuts, resolution cuts quite frankly don't really affect the games so they are the most obvious cut zones

But not everthing he leaks was legit, so not necessarily this new informations are (despite 1080p not a rule is pretty obvious, we don't need him for knowing that.)

Your point is inane...the fact that you are doubting a leak from a source that has a success rate of 90%, that has been leaking correct information since 05, and has been verified by every mod on this site speaks to willful ignorance or stubborn opposition to facts proven time again due to your own personal agenda of spreading fud.

Can anyone explain how MS is behind Sony in nextgen hardware and software even though they stopped 360 first party game production about two years ago, while Sony released probably more first party game in the last few years than any other point in the gen?

Welp time to sleep. Thank you cboat. I really enjoy the discussions about your truthfacts.

Thank you fellow gaffers for the great discussion. Looking forward to checking out this thread again tomorrow.

resting on laurels breh

anyway, cboat threads are always amazing.

Yea, ever since Kinect came out my 360 pretty much died.

The XBone really is a clusterfuck of a console.

Worst case scenario, Day One or Launch buyers are fucking beta-testers.

what the fuck.

By this thinking, "beta tested in the future" would be one of the most accurate gaming slogans ever, considering beta testing won't start till November.

I feel confident Microsoft knew what they were doing with the upclock, they had to learn from their previous mistakes. At least in reference to hardware issues. The impact on gaming we will have to see.

Sony built one hell of a foundation with their first party studios this gen. They are just starting to reap the benefits of that going into next gen

Why do people with sonic avatars not like Sony? =/

Maybe it's a Sega thing? Sony generally gets the blame for pushing Sega out of the console industry :P Though in reality it was always Sega's own incompetence on the business side that caused their own demise in the console market

Is that partly why Sony didn't go with IBM for next gen?

No, it was Mark Cerny who kept pushing Sony to go x86 until they finally just gave in and started listing to him. It's the smartest move they made all generation.
