Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

Similar things could be said about Link.
In OOT, yeah, but the various Links from other games are completely different people. And besides, there are obviously different rules regarding Nintendo characters and guest characters. I just don't see there being a situation where Sega gets a second representative, and certainly not in the form of a shorter Sonic with black eyes.

Still waiting on my man G&W to be announced.

Besides him the only other brawl characters I'm hoping for that haven't been revealed yet are probably Wario, PT, and Wolf.

This news about the MLG thing has me excited.

Not because *I* want smash to be more competitive, I really don't care. I'm a casual, I play with family and friends.

It makes me excited because nintendo is realizing the importance of twitch/youtube/competitive gaming and the impact that it can have on sales. If the new smash is trashed by competitive players, that could reduce sales of some players that never intended to play competitively, but won't get it because 'it's not as good as melee.' This game is going to be a system seller, so they need as many sales as possible and as much good press as possible. I grant that the people affected by this are probably in the 10% range of potential customers, but enough bad press and this could spread and affect even more. Even people who just visit gaming sites casually my read an article that claims that 'so and so player thinks new smash brothers is not as good as melee' and therefore think that 'oh maybe the new smash bros isn't worth buying a wii U for afterall. If it's not going to have legs, why bother? I can still play melee on my gamecube/wii and it's better.

I think it's a smart move to make this smash more competitive, more like a fighting game. It's free press to have it played in tournaments. It increases exposure. It gains new fans. I think they could potentially get 10-20% more sales by being competitive vs being the mario party of smash bros games.

Classic Sonic with Sonic 3 elemental shields for his special attacks would be excellent.

B = spindash
Up + B = electric shield
Down + B = bubble shield
Side + B = flame shield

I just want Classic Sonic as an alternate costume for Modarn Sanic.

hitboxes be damned.

Available as a mod in Brawl. :)

Any new "tonight's the night Sakurai unveils a new pokemon thing for X/Y" post? Or has everyone given up on getting an X/Y related post?

Pokemon hype never dies.

Though honestly at this point if anything, I would expect it as tomorrow's update to finish off the week.

That middle mouth makes Classic Sonic looks really weird haha, but I guess that can't be helped due to modding limitations. Nice mod otherwise though!

I feel that's way too repetitive now that I think about it. I think some of the shields should be A moves.

Should be cool if Sonic's regular shield (as in the smash bros shield) is the Sonic 1/2 shield

I have a feeling that you could keep Smash GAF awake all night with the same kind of logic logic that gets applied to the HL3 stealth announcement running joke.

Feh, no one haven't saying anything about it yet.

Here is interesting situation (I know it wouldn't happens.)

If Pokemon Company decided to denying Sakurai from accessing to other pokemon characters, so basically we would lose our chance to see Pokemon Trainer, Mewtwo, Lucario, and Jigglypuff again. Basically Pikachu would be our only Pokemon representative. How would you feel about that?

I'm not going to try and pretend I wasn't largely disappointed in regards to the lack of a new Pokemon character following the release of X/Y. Its a big burn when expectations are built when new characters are unveiled alongside the release of a game they star in, only for one of the biggest Nintendo of the releases of the year to go unnoticed on the Dojo.

I have my own theories about why we didn't get a character, such as wanting to space out the reveal from the recent Sonic and Toon Link reveals, to not wanting to show secret characters from past games (Mewtwo, Jigglypuff, Lucario), or the character not being ready to show. (Pokemon Trainer having trouble on 3DS?) Of course none of this really matters now, all we can really do is wait, but at the very least this experience has taught us to never predict a reveal on the Dojo again.

I've long since given up trying to anticipate when Sakurai shows us characters or his methology, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if he follows a more basic approach to his reveals,....whenever they are "complete" enough to announce. Think about it. Last time on the Dojo, it took a short while for known veterans like DK and even Bowser to be shown. Why perhaps? Maybe DKs new "fur" took a little more time, or as for Bowser, he gained some tweaked updates to moves such as Flame Breath and Koopa Klaw turning into Flying Slam, so maybe that took a little time to finalize. This time, we see them right off the bat, perhaps meaning that DK didn't have many changes to undergo and Bowser might've been because the ideas created for the changes to him were made far before development, therefore he was able to quickly implement them alongside the other veterans that were shown first.

As far as Sonic, Megaman and Wii Fit, the same could be said concerning Bowser. Sakurai probably figured he wanted them in well before actual development started, even so far that he already had finalized movesets and such for them. Sonic's own popularity and raw demand from the last game pretty much cemented his spot....and I can imagine Megaman's speedy reveal gaining precedence during development in order to build hype for the game once it was finally shown. So with that being said, whomever we get announced, and maybe the time period and order could just be determined on who rolled off the assembly line in good enough shape to be shared with the world....

Just a thought from me but hey, it could be possible.

Even a trophy's stretching it. Sonic is Sonic. It's not like there are going to be classic versions of Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Pit, and so on.

Yep. Aaron Webber has said bringing back Classic Sonic was a one time thing. Besides, they've tweaked Modern Sonic's design a lot since Adventure and especially 06.

Both of the Mega Mewtwo's look weird as fuck.

The original is best, and M. Mewtwo X is less ugly.

Also, people who are disappointed by the lack of reveals should really learn to set their expectations, and know that trying predicting any sort of pattern with Sakurai is nothing but a catalyst for disappointment.

He reveals Toon Link who a lot of us weren't even sure would return, then Sonic a week after lol. No one saw that shit coming. That alone should tell you it's pointless. I mean, if you guess or predict one thing enough, you're bound to be right eventually. With that said, it would be nice if the updates weren't so random. I kinda like it though, Dojo's updates were overkill.

Mega Mewtwo X's weird toes, massive legs, and stub tail ruin the whole thing for me.

I love Mega Mewtwo Y's design though, but I can't exactly pinpoint why I do. I just... like it. :/

Anything can top last nights picture in my opinion.

Agreed! Don't understand everyone calling me an entitled gamer because I was disappointed with last night's reveal. We are all participating in a forum that lives off of hype and speculation, why wouldn't we all want screenshots that tease new info than reused screenshots?

These are daily pictures of a game that isn't close to being released, not a Nintendo Direct.

I'm all for manufactured hype though regardless of reason.

It's fun.

Yup, and they suck!

also it's smells goooood

That's what happens when a show is forced to stay on the air for years.

There's a saying that all good things must come to end an end, whether it be for better (Spongebob) or for worse (Smash Bros).

Smash Bros hype must come to end an end someday though.

It's definitely 60FPS for sure. 1080p? I think it's kind of likely, but we'll see. Didn't we had actual 1080p screenshots?

everytime someone posts a screenshot without the watermark it is 1080p, 1080p was confirmed a long time ago c'mon guys
