New Ryse: Son of Rome story trailer [new footage]

24 different unique AI characters on screen at once is about on par if not more than what Halo has had in the past no? Not including the flood of course.

I feel like the ends of Halo 2 and Halo Reach had to have had at least 24 ai characters, although I'm not sure. I do wonder what the largest Halo encounter is.

I must be missing something, or massively overvaluing Killzone.

I don't really know, I'm a PC gamer, I just like observing all this new console madness.

I still think that the PS4 will be my preferred console in the long run for exclusives, but Ryse, Dead Rising 3 and Forza 5 just does more for me straight out of the gate. Killzone Shadowfall looks absolutely stunning, though, and I'll still probably get a PS4 first because of the price by Spring or so of next year.

Okay, I understand. I think Dead Rising 3 is going to be a huge bomb (awful reviews, awful sales, forgotten by next year, etc), and I don't personally play racing games. I'm sure Forza 5 will be great, as always.

I'm talking about gameplay and overall quality, not really graphics.

well, if you're talking about gameplay and overall quality I guess it's a brand new start, we'll have to sit and wait for what's coming next

well, DR3 is my launch day game and I can't be excited enough to play it

Ryse already looks better than the Sorcerer tech demo. Skin in particular is way better.

Remains to be seen, of course. But Dead Rising 3 looks better than ever to me. That open world instead of just a mall will work wonders.

Killzone Shadow Fall, Witcher 3, Infamous SS, The Order 1886, Quantum Break and Uncharted 4 will all top it without too much effort imo. 2015 the gap is only going to widen.

Basically, we can expect gameplay graphics to look similar to the Deep Down and Quantic Dream Sorcerer tech demo's.

Shadow Fall? Game looks good but be real here. A few you listed could certainly compete with Ryse and maybe surpass, but this game, at this very moment, is on a whole other level.

Impressions from people who have played DR3 indicate it should be a lot of fun. Who knows, though... it could certainly bomb in sales.
I'm not really worried about sales, it's a launch game, they all sell like shit.

I just don't want it to be another Perfect Dark Zero, great previews and impressions all the way up until an absolutely awful game at launch. Obviously this is all just cynical, baseless conjecture and rambling on my part.

Nope, but i like expressions and animation more in Ryse demo. Also physics and reflections on armors really pump quality a lot.

Basically every QD game has looked better than the tech demo preceding it.

QD's next game will look even better.

Until they will realize that they cant spend half of polygon budget on 3 characters on screen and will downgrade them a lot. Still, they will probably use around 200k models, which is still very high.

Basically 1m polys budget for characters is bullshit in real game, they know it, we know it, everybody knows it.

QB is really low on gaf hype list sadly so it's easy to miss. It got posted a few times.

that's why, it's a Remedy title, then after how long took Remedy to release Alan Wake, and what *happened*, well, many people are skeptic about them, then, it's a XBOX One exclusive title, then you know, it lacks interest

Pretty unreal looking.

I'm not an Xbox guy but I have to admit this has the best next-gen graphics out of all titles announced for the PS4/ Xbone. The character models are straight out of CGI and are on par with The Dark Sorcerer which was a tech-demo set in a small room anyway.

Too bad the game will suck humongous amounts of dick. All they had to do was copy God of War but make it based in historical and "real" ancient Rome environments. Next gen God of War? Yes please.

The same mistake Deep Down devs made - everybody asked for a next gen Souls game yet they offered you a shitty, randomized, always online F2P title.

Tremendous missed opportunities here for both titles (Ryse, Deep Down).

I'm sorry but I'll eat the crow and say you're delusional to expect Dark Sorcerer tech demo graphics anytime soon on either console.

Tbh I think it will happen sooner than you think. If Crytek is pulling off Ryse while the console is still in development and tools aren't mature yet all while working with unfamiliar hardware, I wouldn't discount it so easily.

You know... not every game has to be a God of War or Halo clone to be any good.

I wish this kind of logic would stop already it kills fresh and new ideas for designing games.

Might come close to mimicking it, but David Cage's PS4 game won't have 1 million poly characters. Count on it.

I think games like RYSE show that amount of polygons is really a waste and just so you can play the number game. When optimized they could probably mimick the dark sorcerers models at a much lower polycount.

Don't stop there... Dig a bit and witness his N4G brilliance.

Game looks phenomenal btw.

Not seeing anything wrong with my comments on N4G. It is funny to have someone like Nib criticize my comments though. lol

Although resorting to post history, on a different website for that matter, is a pretty sad tactic.

I want a next-gen God of War. This could be it. Too bad, though. I also want a next-gen Souls game and the first (February) DD reveal looked like it was *it*. Too bad, though.

This is all my opinion of course - keep that in mind.

So you have played the entire final version of the game then? Good to know. Also, how is this comparable to Deep Down? It is not a free to play title, it's full retail last I checked.

It doesn't really need that many to be honest. They could reach and even surpass Dark Sorceror without having 1 million poly characters with a variety of techniques.

Actually Ryse is a prime example of lowering poly count and still looking better.
