New Ryse: Son of Rome story trailer [new footage]

I would say it's a cutscene pretty clearly with the stuff happening after that hit.

Well, if it is then it still looks right there with the gameplay footage to me.

Never noticed the guy hanging from the rampart on the left. Poor guy.

If You watch video from Cevat presentation closely, in a scene where hundred troops are going through the gate, one guy is thrown from the left wall and get spiked :)

Btw i recommend watching this trailer in slow motion [like 5 or 10 fps] in Your media player, it will show all the details You missed. Seriously do it now.

This freaking guy :)

I see two more goat head guys holing his buddy up. Guessing you show up just as they are about to take him out, Be cool if there is a chance for you to not get there in time, kind of like the part in Halo 3 in the Sierra level when the Brute is holding up a soldier about to kill him and you can either save him or not.

While this does look beautiful as a whole, you can see where the tradeoff was made in poly count: marius's body.

Much of the poly resources are naturally applied to the face and to the moveable pieces of armor. If you look at marius's elbows, you can see where geometry has been replaced with flat, non-deforming textures.

Still, I think the trade-off was worthwhile. It allowed them to do better animation in the face and armor and use better shaders. It makes the end result look more believable.

Holy crap guys, these gifs are getting huge!

I really hope this game can properly capture the scale of large-army combat. I'm afraid there may end up just being like one or two "big battle" set-pieces and that's it.

Depends on the scaling tech. But at lower resolutions there's less point going balls out on texture resolution, minute polygon detail etc. Because that stuff will have a touch of blur to it anyway, rendering that extreme texture detail rather pointless. But we'll have to wait and see.

What? Generally textures max out at 2 times the res of the rendering resolution before you start lose details, wasting resources as a result. Games that render at 900p are not losing details using 2048x2 res textures or even 4096x2 res textures.

The facial animation in this and Quantum Break are really nice. Xbox One seemingly has the lock on games with quality facial animation for the moment

Remedy has really stepped up their game since Alan Wake , when it comes to faces that much is for sure.

I'm on the bandwagon also now and will probably pick it up day one but I have a real hard time believing that is gameplay when we've seen other clips look pretty janky.

But that was a gameplay section from the latest build. By "other clips" do you mean the combat vidoc? Because that was an older build.

So sharp elbows would not hit?
:p
