Really? They released a vid doc rather recently showing Marius fighting in different locations that still looked pretty janky.

The game looks absolutely incredible from a visual perspective, especially the facial and armor animations. But the gameplay up to this point has been average at best.

The most exciting thing I get out of this launch title is how amazing games are going to look this gen on advanced middleware engines like Cryengine and likely Unreal 4 right out of the gate; if you think this updated version of Cryengine looks amazing on X1, just wait to see what it will be able to do on more powerful platforms like high end pcs and ps4.

I am also surprised how the launch games look. Not all but KZ and Ryse both are absolutely next-gen and aren't even close to possible on current-gen. But we talk about Crytek and GG here, so...

I actually think that while GG's offering looks very good, Crytek's engine is distinctly superior, at least within the context of a more linear game.

The Crytek guys like to run their mouths, but in this instance, they were right in terms of nothing outclassing the Cryengine at the beginning of this gen.

Seriously, comparing games in different genres and gfx styles to compare engines is silly. Hard data would be needed to compare engines. I think KZ:SF:s graphix pipe is too complex for its own good.

Yep. KZSF looks great, but Yerli, Crytek and the CryEngine are serious when it comes to graphics. lol

I'm ready to see Unreal Engine 4 on next-gen consoles. Rumor that Black Tusk's game is running on UE4.

I'm the staunchest? Is this some kind of joke? I want the PS4 to do good, in fact Sony needs it to perform well and the more they compete the better gaming gets for all of us. I've never trolled anyone for saying they want to buy a PS4 or attacked someone for it.

You start with "dude"? It's funny to read this post especially from you but either way. Let's not get personal but instead agree that Ryse is the best looking game there is. There is no other opinion allowed. If you disagree go to a KZ-thread and you can say there that KZ is the best looking game there is.

It was the whole point of the post.... It is no miracle that spotgame looks best... I expect best looking game in whole gen be MLB the show ps4 version. Those games propably do not have engines that scales well beyond their own genre. Ryse looks exelent on far and middle range and only nice on close range. Cryengine seems to quite a beast but without knowing other engines crunching power and scalability, comparasions are moot.

Having a preference and being civil about it are two different things. Generally it's the latter that ends up getting people banned.

And no, of course different people will think different games look best. Hell, some people think Mario is the best looking game out there. Opinions and all that.

From everything we have observed and heard officially, yes they are.

If you watch the E3 demo they transition between cutscenes to gameplay seamlessly and one of the reasons for getting rid of LoD is for a more movie like experience where it is always the same quality.

There should lod models for others than mc... it would be idiotic otherwise.
Have not seen good quality anything (only off-screen e3 footage and badly compressed pics/gifs) from this game to judge iq. If it is as good as this footage seems to makes me believe they have good aa solution for sure... Need direct feed high quality gameplay pics (not from video, but uncompressed screen cap) for that. Forza should take a look at ryses aa solution.

There is LoD farther away but they balanced the LoD so that it maintains in scenes where it's needed.

This is 100% in-game and in-engine.

My experience of you trolling is not solely in this thread. But referencing just this thread, there is more to a game than cutscenes. Justified criticism of a game's core attributes (I.e., gameplay) and then having you "lol Marius kills the haters" without addressing the fact that Ryse is likely a mediocre game at best is laughable. Without any criticism about gameplay, these threads just become graphics circle jerks...which is why we keep getting "aaa" titles with mediocre gameplay. I've also seen you sniping solely about graphics stuff in the edge and other ps4 vs. x1 threads.

Nib certainly seems to have a Sony bias but he doesn't conspicuously troll. You have an X1 bias and you do. So, how is his statement false, regardless of both of you being fanboys?

In my book Trolling is turning up in a thread for game for a console you refuse to continence and then picking holes in said game, not defending a game you are interested in on a console you are buying!

Trailers are always trailers. Do not know if marketing would let it trough without touches. I am just dissapointed with lack of uncompressed screen caps in nextgen games. There are some but then one have to think "be bullshot or not to be bullshot". Anyway, Ryse looks great.

Anyway, Ryse looks amazing but I'm not entirely sold on gameplay, anyone have the latest video for single player build gameplay?

So if you don't think this is a good game, why are you spending the time defending it?

It's obviously got good graphics, but is that all this thread is about at this point? We've moved on to talking about the gameplay, etc. And so you attempt to change the topic to be about "the lack of civility being displayed in this thread". Maybe you were referencing something else, but I hope you weren't passive aggressively referencing my criticisms, which have been justified via what we've seen and experienced from Ryse's gameplay up to this point.

Nib makes sure to mention Sony or the PS4 in every xbox thread and he does it purposely but in many of his posts he says "he doesn't want to do it" keep this in mind going forward in new threads and you'll see a pattern with him. it's very disingenuous
 
I think Ford may have just had a go at some of the downgrade and 900p criticisms of late. Beyond that, he is just posting enlarged gifs because the game looks so damn good in this newest footage and most of us enjoy seeing them. No harm, no foul there.

As far as the gameplay goes, I don't think anyone is expecting the next Demon's Souls or anything. But it does look like it is shaping up to be a fun hack n' slash game with some amazing production values. That is enough for those of us who like games like that.

Yeah, I've been coming at it with the attitude of a western hack-n-slash even though I've seen some positive previews lately on the combat. Going to hold any judgements until I play it myself in final form.
 
I find it funny that anyone would complain about posters in this thread focusing on cinematic graphics over gameplay. It's a thread about a cinematic story trailer.
